I think people should talk about this more because there are so many characters and it's really confusing who fits more in a certain comp. I feel like a lot of bad games can be avoided simply by proper comps.
In my opinion this video is among the most helpful ones I have seen from you, thanks a lot.
we actually have so many characters now (around 66??), and like you said, i feel like it’s difficult to understand where they all fit if you havent been playing for hundreds of hours 😭

I started playing with my friends and the squad with the best results were Martina, Arda and Alonso.
if an assasin jumps on the backline if he targets arda i can kinda peel him with my cams so he can land his things easier
if he targets me, martina basically has 2 hp bars and the current build is just too tanky (keep in mind that this is from normal games, one of my friends is not lvl 30 to try ranks)

i was actually struggling with trying to avoid that impression 😭

How do weapon abilities affect your reasonings? in specific you have Aya as carry and I assume AR is the best because of overheat but what about pistol or sniper?r
i just took the most popular/stable archetype of the character! pistol/sniper aya would end up falling into specialist since they arent quite as good of an anchor as AR, but they do open much more mobile/high burst playstyles
it was just waaaaay too much work to go into every weapon type for every character. maybe in the future if NN does a significantly better job of making them more evenly spread
Do you know why echion build is tank build? Apart from the fact that his weapon give 300hp. His skills (esp shield) are AP scaling
i believe its because his R in the red weapon form echoes, so you don't really need to build more damage. i believe you could still build upgrades like auto arms and halo -- it's just less preferred and a bit expensive
I find Abigail and Isaac as assassins to be odd.
With Abigail’s heals and shields, she’s pretty darn tanky but with her movement I can see her being called an assassin sure. Pretty tanky for one but yeah, her kit’s damage based.
Isaac though?
I mean I guess his ult doesn’t make sense as a tanky bruiser, but his constant heals, the pull, and the counter with tonfa makes him really good at peeling for your own carries.
He fits more in the section of bruisers that deal damage rather than assassin, imo.
isaac is definitely a character that should belong in the bruiser class, but for some odd reason he FEELS more assassin to me in practice
in the background gameplay, you can see how i just run in and try to focus a singular target, bursting them as hard as i can -- and it ends up becoming a race between mine and the opponent's hp bars, which ultimately fits more into the assassin style than the bruiser style
tonfa skill doesn't really peel for anyone -- it's more of a brief damage block for himself, and while his passive is consistent healing, it directly scales off the damage dealt from specifically the passive proc itself, which isn't all that impressive on most targets. if it healed a set amount that scaled decently with AP, i would 100% agree he could trend more to bruiser

i think my heart tells me that he’s supposed to be a bruiser, but the way i played him on release and the way he plays in squads feels way more like an assassin 🥲
I dont agree with Laura being structly burst.
She plays like a bruiser, functions like one (just with good burst thats it) and has built in survivability in the form of W def.
i think she is one of the burst mages that teeters on the line of being a bruiser
the main reason i put her burst is mainly because ive never seen her being a successful solo frontliner. when i watched gwork and other lauras navigate her, their gameplan always seemed to be to land W and R somehow in order to deal massive damage. the fights were never ended up being extended, which is what bruisers want (imo), and were generally determined by a damage race
@@myaaniflakes I consider her a bruiser with an option to assasinate just becusse how she approaches fights.
Jan plays simularly to Laura in his current incarnation with tonfa full amp and likewise suffers by not having any frontline and hes considered a bruiser.
(This coming off someone onetricking Jan and having Laura as a secondary).
I feel like burst mages need to be able to have alot of ground coverage and effective range, otherwise if a burst mage is mellee or short range its either an assasin, or somewhat bruiserish.
@@lanternno8491i can definitely see where you’re coming from, especially with the jan point. i was considering slamming him into the burst/assassin category, but i honestly havent been close to being 100-0’d by him, so i just defaulted him into bruiser
with the W mark, i do think laura does fulfill the “ground coverage” niche of an assassin/burst mage more than jan. jan has never really had the ability to fly across a screen and engage, and somewhat relies on facetanking a few things to close the distance… i havent seen much of him and i havent played him in 1.0, so its likely a dated impression of him!
honestly, laura is definitely a character that suffers from the type of generalizations i made in this video, because she can be objectively be placed into either the assassin or bruiser role with pretty good reasons. for me, it was mainly due to her being a bit longer ranged than pure melee, and a bit squishier than bruisers that pushed her into the burst class, but the smallest of number tunes could change how she’s played by a lot

I agree how number tuning can really shift the characters in these cases.
About 100-0 by Jan it happens more rarely with W nerfs but with pre stacking and amp drone + % amp it can still happen.
