Depends on the QB.... If I'm Jones living in super expensive NYC/NJ (unlike Mahomes in cheap MO in my $2m Ranch House & beaucoup land want as close to max money I can command.... Mahomes has proven he can win on a rookie deal AND big money deal. He's so skilled he can make any money he forgoes in endorsements & other income streams.... He & Brady are 2 highest endorsed players - Jones has done nothing in his rookie contract to indicate he can carry a team to SB... So he selfishly should maximise on field income cos he can't rely on his talent granting opportunities to do so off field ala Brady & Mahomes
IINM the way the rolling guarantees &. attainable bonuses work other than getting less than he could demand less guaranteed money (which he will get one way or another) is tied up in escrow giving KCC more flexibility .... Though I could be mistaken

There are plenty of people on here questioning the decision to pay him at this level but I think it's a really smart move by the Eagles. Waiting could only hurt them financially by allowing several other QBs like Burrow and Herbert to get paid and set the bar even higher. He won't be highest paid for long and by paying him now they will save in the long run. Of course all this depends on him playing at the same level he played at last year or better but he's clearly improved every year as a passer and his stats clearly show this. His athleticism and ability to run will give him the time and opportunity to develop in the pocket and get better at reading defences. As a Chiefs fan I think it's a shrewd move from Roseman because he answered the biggest question this year. How a QB handles the increased pressure of the playoffs as well as having to play against a higher level of competition is the biggest unknown for most young QBs and Hurts more than rose to the occasion this year. His leadership and composure in the SB were very impressive and the way he battled back from the fumble spoke volumes about his character. It's impossible to predict the future but in my opinion Philly has a special QB who will continue to grow and get better over time and paying him now to tie him up long term will prove to be a masterstroke.

It’s crazy how people love to instantly criticize a contract like this. People say it’s “too soon” or “too much” based on what he has done so far.
However, anyone who tries to make this contract solely about Jalen Hurts statistics(or lack thereof) when compared to other elite QBs, is completely missing the point. Yes, his numbers are great. He took them to the Super Bowl last year. Played lights out bell to bell last year. But that is such a small aspect of why locking him up is absolutely unequivocally 100% the right thing to do. This guy is to the Eagles what someone like Tom Brady or Peyton Manning was to the Patriots/Colts/Buccaneers/Broncos. Now to be clear, I’m not saying he is on that level yet. But what I am saying is he is unequivocally like them in the sense that he is the CEO of the organization now. You don’t have to worry about personality issues. Don’t have to worry about work ethic. Don’t have to worry about what he does the night before a club. Don’t worry about his teammates despising him. Dude is a complete package in a way so few QBs have really ever been. Jalen's guarantees were 110 million at signing and 170 after March 2024. Lamar's were reported at 133 and 200 respectively. 17:00 As long as Mahomes is leaving football money on the table allowing the Chiefs to spend on players who help him win Lombardi’s, Mahomes will make up for it and then some in off-field endorsements. He’s following the Brady model.

Halen Hurts definitely deserves this contract extension. With his achievements he's made in his short time in the NFL, he's earned every penny in the new contract.
As for Lamar Jackson's situation, he's screwed himself by trying to bypass the agents and keep their share of the deal for himself. He thinks he's smarter than everyone else around him, and thinks he's slick, but he isn't. All he's done is to piss off the people within the Ravens organization with his outrageous demands and antics. However, the Ravens still want him, and believe in him. So he should do something smart by hiring an agent, and let him work out a contract with the Ravens, and then sign it because as he's found out, he's not in demand with other teams because they don't believe he's worth two first round draft picks to get him. Also, his history of being injured, and his below average play-off record doesn't impress either. So, if he's committed to being "the guy" for the Ravens, then he should sign his tender, hire an agent, and take the new contract offer they work out. Lamar needs to let his talent do the talking for him out on the field. Just as Dak did, he played one of his best seasons moths prior to him getting his big contract extension. So Lamar needs to do the same. Then his actions will speak volumes to everyone. However, all of his complaining, and him trying to be the victim is just making him look stupid, entitled, and arrogant. That's why many fans and team execs have turned against him.
Anyway, Jalen...congrats, and Lamar; quit whining and go do your job, or sit out the season where you'll fade out as a has been.

VERY few QB's able to win with mediocre rosters around them (a la Brady) as a result of their contracts, and therefore very few worth those dollars. Look at Aaron Rogers...

Mike, seriously, how many times are you going to reiterate Patrick Mahomes is getting screwed? He's not. One could argue that his contract has allowed the Chiefs to win more games, thereby lining Mahomes' pockets with more advertising gig money. (I haven't seen Mayfield, Watson, or Jackson in commercials lately.)
Also, if not for the team and coaching situation Patrick is in, he might not even have become the "Patrick Mahomes" that we see today. It's silly to get irate about it and to claim someone "deserves" such and such amount of money.
