The most superhero thing he did was figure it out the train schedule so fast.
Quick reading is a must skill.
i watch it every time but i didnt realize it. good ..
and after Come in in the train , bourne still looking around him make sure there is not Police, or whatever thay threaten him .
That and his ability to choose his shopping at a glance.
In his down time Bourne could work as a personal shopper.
His ability to improvise is the most superhero thing.
What i love about bourne is he never takes on some 10 men with machine guns like james bond or other heroes. He knows he doesn’t stand a chance so he does what anyone would do - run! And run beautifully :)
He runs better than Tom!
@@kssrider6766 Hard to say so. Tom runs pretty good himself.
You mean it's realistic
@@kssrider6766 nah
😀😀
Bourne is probably the most realistic action thriller out there. The protagonist always looks to flee when cornered and NEVER fights unless forced to.
-realistic- reasonable
This is not realistic at all. If the police really had a suspicion that a dangerous ex-cia agent was in a specific building, they would keep ground troops at all time surrounding the area to build up a perimeter. Ya know so stuff like this doesn't happen.
@@erikeriks Not a documentary for sure
@@erikeriks Not on a moment's notice. QRF got there and they were moving in more police as quickly as possible. Would they have set a broad perimeter but let the dangerous ex-CIA agent have free reign within their perimeter first?
That is what sets Bourne apart - not only he is indeed deadly, he is incredibly smart and well-trained in the art of tradecraft. He doesn't try to take on 10+ highly skilled and armed SWAT officers, he finds a solution how to outmaneuver and escape them
He has a mission and he's on it, police and whatever are irrelevant.
yup he was trained not to exist it makes you wonder was this how things were back the night he killed neski
the thing i appreciate about these films is the police aren't just bumbling morons, they pose a legit threat to him. He knows he can't go against the entry team, so he escapes, but then he's seen on the street and cop radios it in, so he has to evade that, then he realizes he can't stay hidden on the train long enough, so he has to evade again and distract them long enough to escape.
Bc it's a movie. In real life the cops are pretty dumb, just a fact.
No one would watch the realistic chain of events.
Police are not that smart Trump event proved that
I love how competent the police are in this scene.
I was just thinking the same thing. Esp when the one guy caught him walking in the crowd LOL 1:35
@@NoodleBoy26 well yeah... theyre not American cops. 😂
Bourne was playing on Ultra Hard difficulty.
Well the raid team is GSG9, and the cops aren’t American so that helps
@@SgtOddball90 This is SEK not GSG 9
2:57 I really love that he calculates the time and know staying on train won't work and then goes right on with plan b
Plan b? I think this was plan a.
@@teologen Plan A was to stay on the train, he knew it wouldn't work, so plan B. Comprende'?
@@CB-xr1eg No, that wasn’t the plan, as we can see plainly. He checked the listings to see when the trains left. He went onto the first train to trick the police, then jumped out if it, crossing the tracks right before the other train - that he knew was coming - so that he could escape. Plan A all along.
@@teologen No no, when he was on the train he realised he'd made a mistake so he quickly formulated plan B. You're clearly underestimating his speed of thought. Which you shouldn't be doing when you saw how quickly he read the train timetable.
@@CB-xr1eg No, you are the one who’s underestimating his speed of thought. He clearly lured them into thinking he was going on that first train. He only used it to jump ahead of the second train so he could escape.
Best thing about the Bourne series is that the police aren't stupid
Escaping the hotel... and the streets... and the bridge... and the train... and finally the boat and bridge again. All in under 5 minutes. Impressive
The most impressive thing is adaptation.
The most impressive thing is that he hotel is in Berlin. Which explains why the police is shouting in German ^-^
Not to mention learning the train schedule in 6 seconds.
@@adamsjay212it doesn’t matter, he improvised when he crossed the opposite railway just before the train passes💡.
@@memati7199 it’s called “thinking on your feet.”
That much shaky cam could get annoying for a lesser director or film, but for Bourne it just works perfectly and heightens the tension.
Paul Greengrass is a master of this style.
Great chase scene. John Powell's score really made this scene work.
The bass instrument at 3:19 is so cool
@@jacobname4310 Yup! Super cool. Love it 😍.
His ability to assess and action on the go is the true gamechanger.
I love the underhooks
As strange as it is, hearing the cops yell out "Polizei!" every so often makes this scene more tense.
That German aggression crazy man
German police do not mess about
Was at a festival near Stuttgart in 2011, and someone decided to climb 40ft up in the air in a circus tent( don't know what you call them) and three brave Polizei climbed up and hauled him down.n
@@calebdixon784 What aggression? American cops would just start blasting, how is that less aggressive?
@@chiggsytube american cops would fill that whole tram department with bullets LMAO
This might be the shortest time anyone ever ran from Zoologischer Garten to Friedrichstraße ;)
Fun fact: Matt Damon really did bust his lower knee when doing a stunt jumping on top of the boat. But he basically improv'd every single scenes afterwards with him limping and Paul Greengrass thought it was much better. Plus, Damon was out for injury for couple of months, so he didn't want to re-shoot the whole thing.
Ah, that is why it looks so real......
I like it, it made Bourne look less indestructible, which is a real problem with alot of action films where you see the hero get completely wrecked one moment, then just shrugs it off like nothing happened in the next scene.
source: trust me bro
How do you know?
These 'Bourne' Series are the movies my whole family likes to watch...
its so engaging and the flow of sequences are very well done....
ntm, everything seems realistic, His mindset , and decicion making at that particular time, his skills and injuries... reallly Well DONE.
The Jason Bourne series (FYI) Bourne is not misspelled, by far the BEST REAL LIFE ACTION person anybody could create.
You have to be in the best shape of your life for that chase.
ABSOLUTELY! To run at such a pace for that long and also constantly scanning the roads to see if there's anything you can pull off to escape
naaaaaaa ... just be an 'actor ' and let the camera do the rest ... ( i think i;ll have another cheto ... )
Hah, in the best shape I've ever been in, I could make it halfway up the pipe outside the hotel before having a heart attack or just losing my grip and falling eight floors.
I’ve always loved the little details they put in the movie that show he’s in unbelievable shape . In almost every fight and chase he never even gets close to winded .
Bourne was running on the beach earlier in the movie in India. He kept his cardio up.
You can’t stop Bourne, he is too smart. Go Jason ,,,,,,,
The moment he starts running is when you know he has a 4-star wanted level.
Jesus I can’t believe this is almost 20 years ago.
I love this movie. Thankfully I have this on DVD. Thank you.
Jason bourne is like 47 in Hitman video games. He is the ultimate survivalist.
i need to watch these movies again. bourne legacy / jason bourne weren't necessary sequels, but still fun to watch. too bad we never got an aaron cross / jason bourne cross over.
Just a quick correction, the escape is in Berlin, the sequences after this scene is in Moscow
So, another skill is that he can teleport. No big deal to Jason Bourne, all in a day's work.
@@CB-xr1eg Haha if only
I love that they move the boat back and try everything to see if he is there.
Gotta say the filmography was superb
Legendary level presence of mind Bourne has
I wish I can be like bourne...he had the time to figure out the train schedule even with the cops breathing down his neck...epic🔥
I think that can be attributed to his training. His goal, after all, is to escape. He's always been calm.
have many cops chasing you near the trains do you? 😀
As if that would work - the S-Bahn in Berlin is notorious for not being on time. Unrealistic!
That surprises me, I've heard that germans in general get angry because their public transport services are *one minute late*.
@@Ryosuke1208 They do in Germany, not in Berlin.
As Isherwood said: “Berlin is its own world.”
Calling before time is always good to do….
Ich komme ganz gut mit der Bahn zurecht😂
Paul Greengrass camera shake style adds SO much to the film, especially in these chase scenes. Fantastic work!!
Understatement!
The best part of this chase is that even though he does everything almost perfectly he still injures his 🦶 on the way down onto the barge which shows that even though you can always do things really well you're never going to be able to do anything absolutely 100% perfectly. There's always going to be an error in there somewhere which is why I love the Bourne movies much more than the John Wick films (the first three Bourne movies anyway) because they show life as it really is and even though it features a world most of us know very little about everything in the film is so believable you just buy everything that happens in it even though it might feel out of the ordinary at times.🤔🧐😏
This escape is a piece of art! 🙂
Misdirection at its finest. Bourne writers top tier
Im in the process of reading all 18 Bourne novels. It's next to impossible to imagine anyone else as Bourne than Damon.
I do love these films… that being said it’s a bit frustrating that they missed the heart of the character in the book. He was supposed to be a chameleon, able to change his look in seconds to avoid suspicion. He would never have just walked down the street in the same clothes that he left the hotel in able to be spotted by anyone.
In the books Marie actually learns some basic tricks from Bourne. When she is kidnapped she escapes and disappears by kicking off her shoes and turning her jacket inside out - thus changing her appearance and height in a few seconds. Some tricks are really basic and everybody who keeps cool can do them.
The books were nothing like the movies but the movies were outstanding on their own.
Didn't know that
@@vincenzoberetta1085 I can't help but feel going shoeless would draw attention when trying to avoid it.
I waited and waited for leonid in the movies
he must love that coat not to ditch it and change description and try and blend in the crowd.
It’s a nice coat
When the movie is better than the book.
I liked, James Bond, i liked Jhon Wick, but jason Bourne is majestic
Such great movies! Now I have to watch them all again.
The barge escape is hilarious, because the navigable canal ends 100m. beyond where he jumps on!
Are you treadstone?
Best movie ever
Just a brilliant film well done to all
"Narrow escape through Moscow..."?
The police is speaking German, the vests say "police" in German...
I love how Bourne uses his training to show the hotel staff his passport, then goes & breaks into the room anyway.
This is why we work on our rope pull-ups!
The BGM is dope 😍
The train jump timing. Awesome
Just two movie series can't be forgotten. Bourne and Jhon Wick. These films just changed the whole scenario.
Even Jason Bourne didn't want to take a chance with GSG9 ..
Scene, acting, action, music.... PERFECTION ❤❤❤ No action movie is even close
When I'm drunk I think I'm like Jason Bourne: finding way out of any given situation. But in reality I'm like band from Spinal Tap: I can't find stage even when I'm just 30 ft from it...
One of the rare examples where the film adaptation is far superior to the novel. The latter are written with a trowel, full of inconsistencies that are unacceptable for a spy novel, and the characters are caricatural and insubstantial. The films, on the other hand, are breathtaking, no doubt because the spy-film narrative is merely a pretext for an excellent, fast-paced action film, driven by the performance of Matt Damon, who brings a psychological complexity that doesn't exist in the novel's character.
Eh, to each his own. I think that book Bourne is also complex due to the trauma of losing his wife and kids in Vietnam adding on the 3 years he spent undercover as an assassin which then led to him losing his memory. Because of that, in the second book onwards, he suffers from split-personality disorder. There's David Webb which is the husband, father, and college professor to Marie and her kids. Then there's Jason Bourne. The chameleon. The perfect assassin. While I do like the films, they do miss the heart of this character dynamic and the fact that he can blend into anywhere.
It’s all about realism. Anyone can learn real life lessons watching these films
Mother of all thrilling movies !!!
Bourne makes bond and wick look like cabbages.
Einfach mal vom Zoo bis zur Friedrich Straße gesprintet in 30 Sekunden
I like the Bourne movies, but I hate the combination of shaky cam and relentless hard cuts. I have to look away to avoid crossing my eyes and getting a headache.
Are you disabled ?
most unrealistic thing is that the train is on time
Actually, in Berlin it usually is on time.
POV - me and the boys playing manhunt around the neighborhood when we were 10
Jason is the real superhuman 👽
Never be a motorcycle cop chasing Jason Bourne ! Every movie they end up in a crash
If you follow the different landmarks in this scene you realize: Jason Bourne runs from Kurfürstendamm to Potsdamer Platz to Friedrichstraße (5 km according to Google maps) in less than 3 minutes. What an incredible guy !
hahaha
This things are just for the beauty of the locations
Bourne, training
The most crazy part is that he's extremely lucky to avoid getting hit by the incoming train
I don't know if Jason Bourne is really good with what he can control, or really lucky with what he can't.
it's wild you guys
both those movies, someh9ow they got it right!
This is why the trains must run on time. 😀
This is Berlin, not Moscow ^^
In a real world situation, I wonder who pays back the damage done to the hotel? Insurance company or government?
As this scene is in Germany, the government would have to pay for the damages. I've kicked in my share of doors during my time as an EMT. People could bill the fire department for it, even though we did it to save their lives. The same is true for police as long as the owner of the building/ apartment didn't know about criminal activities.
Unbearable suspense and you get glued to your seat.
Looks like you have to be in fair physical shape to be an assassin!
Die deutsche Polizei wird hier überraschend effektiv dargestellt, Kompliment !
First thing he does is to try for a height advantage. People look up less often than down. Moving upwards now is easier than moving upwards after being spotted. He can move from rooftop to rooftop and determine where he re-enters street level, and somewhat when. He only has to break the outer cordon to get away, after all. Berlin isn't a small city.
His tactic reminds me of a video I saw of a rabbit escaping a dog chasing after it
The rabbit is running ahead with the dog beyond the crest of the hill, but the rabbit doubles back and off to the side before the dog runs in and clear past it, none the wiser
I don't think any cop would think Bourne got off the boat and BACK into the train station he just ran from, and now they gotta search the boat to be sure
I like it that he didn't kill people if he could
This represents two things, I think. Firstly that his character is evolving from assassin to normal person. Secondly that if you kill people the authorities will divert more resources to finding you than if you don't.
Foreign govt to local police: "Find this guy!"
Local police: "Why?"
Foreign govt: "Um, because reasons."
Guy kills people, including cops.
Local police: "Find this guy!"
Hated the shaky camera technique!!
these movies are what made people think shaky cam was a good idea
I love it. Makes it feel real and as if we're actually on this journey/adventure with him
Shaky cam is okay. I hated color corrected green
I wish he'd be in another one of these
Shot James Bond ain't got nothing compared to Bourne's.
And the most incredible thing was... the guy from beginning of this scene was right: police at the sidewalk did notice Jason there. Maybe the special ops aren't that special after all?
I don't hate shaky cams. Just like any cinematography techniques, it all depends on how you utilize it.
Gracias
Todas las películas están increibles
Muchas gracias

You know this is fiction when the cops seem organized and determined.
In Germany there are
This ain't American cops though. Heard about real stories of the German cops, and this story did them a fair level of justice.
Talking about analysing. Sharon Coetzee.
Con Bourne siempre tienes la sensación de que pueden capturarlo en cualquier momento 😱
Good luck catchin' 'im.
It´s always like that when you try to catch the train. You miss it anyway, then you quickly try to make plan B and you think you made it, you could actually choose the other line and make a switch and so on... and you end up running and sometimes even hurting yourself.
Commitment. Experience. The job comes first. And practice (watch him run). The 'Oscars' are part of the 'Olympics when done right. J.
He's always injuring his ankle.
The most unrealistic aspect of this ist the (in reality non-existent) punctuality of trains today in Germany. "Vee are sorry too tell yuh sett yoa trehn has been cansld. Senk yuh foa trafeling wis Deutsche Bahn."
The movie the music. Well. Done movie..i dont got tire watching. It...
Good thing he didn`t need the DB be on time

Jason is a cop magnet.
Bourne did make one mistake - he didn't change his look.
Take off his coat and fold it up and carry it, and try to grab another different colour jacket while Police don't have line of sight on him.
In the books he is known for being able to change his appearance on the fly. Not just his clothes but also dying his hair.
In the thumbnail Matt Damon looked like Nate Diaz to me for some reason!

You have made a mistake in regards to the chase location. It is supposed to be Berlin, not Moscow.
I like Jason Bourne better unlike James Bond, with his super-duper stuff in the "a la Batman" style.
