his voice is so pleasing to listen to

No, is he god? erh umm I mean good?
Yes, it's quite soothing lol I love his singing voice too
"I'm not a psychologist" lol coulda fooled me 😂 I've personally listened to you sing me through many, many tough times dude.
album confirmed @ 42:22
wow i actually fell for it :P
Leon Mckeever What the f... What hap... you sombitch
Leon Mckeever I see what you did there. simple, but effective
well done
hahaha
Maynard's voice is so relaxing to listen to.
whoever disliked it didnt even play 1/10 of the video
JUST
People who refer to Maynard only as the "lead singer of the band Tool" are missing the point. That's not who he is. It's part of who he is yes, but there are many more dimensions to the man.
This ain't Diana Ross and The Supreme. Maynard.
Maynard's voice gives me ASMR tingles
I feel so incredibly gifted to have been granted the skill set I have mainly and especially in my younger years. The tools I've had at my privilege along the way couldn't be any better. I feel now at 23 that I'm able to face anything else that comes my way and continue to learn and grow in the process.
WookieJinx I've already died three times. gotten over a 5 year heroin addiction and lost my biggest dreams multiple times over. So bring it I guess.
This Is You died 3 times?
Jared Martin Metaphorically 'died' to the old ways or previous versions of himself, perhaps.
Jared Martin All are three very long stories running together. But the common theme seems to be me drowning on my own blood. The first two times were complications from throat surgery. The third and most significant time to me,both physically and in terms of starting life down a brand new path, was the crash that stopped me from continuing my career as a professional motocross/enduros racer. My lungs exploded from the impact of hitting a tree, resulting in collapsing both lungs and then drowning from both the lack of air as well as the internal bleeding filling up my chest cavity, where air should be.
boy is right.
I wonder how those angels on the sideline are doing.
PseudoPlox nice.
I think they're wondering when this tug of war will end
not too good
onecortex why did father give those humans free will?
i dont think they have been this baffled before
The input of your childhood is gona dictate where you gona go... Biggest true I ever heard
I never realized there were so many conservatives in the Tool fan base. Even weirder than that, they get triggered so easily!
I've been seeing them show their asses more and more lately. The head asshole has given them courage.
@@Itsunclegabby Head = Bottom
@@cymbalsjefen Lol! Correct!
If artist weren't forced to grand stand political biases nobody would know the wiser. Picking a political side does not strengthen any message or lyric of Tool/PC/Puscifer
dmcook333 Forced? By who? Are you even a fan? 🤖
"We have the most retarded president [GWB] we’ve ever had, and were frustrated and that’s the reason it’s a little heavier this time" reveals drummer Danny Carey. "That level of frustration back like when we first got the band together: we were products of that fucking Reagan thing, we were pissed off and bummed-out, we had that angst, and now its coming forth again: like it or not were products of our environment. We’re pissed off again" ~DC 3/06
6 times. 6 times the bees spun around.
Ryan Hoole Nice observation 👍
cicadas *
haha, thanks dude
I thought they were fleas.
ARMED SNOWFLAKE “No.”
I applaud manyard for this because he's very reclusive and generally isn't comfortable speaking publicly as a single person rather than a character on stage good on you mate
MJK would be a great golf commentator. Lollll
The year is 2050 and we still haven't received the new Tool album...
Jared Martin receive?
Diamond Cutter Its received not receive.
it is "it's" not "Its"
...if you want to play that game.
Did you listen? Tool don't owe you anything @ 30min Maynard explains why you'll be food, you can't work it out.
ChizzyBeats go fuck yourself!
I'm just glassin
dirk bowman best
dirk bowman "mommy jeans". tool's next album
dirk bowman hey hitler
im no finished with the vid yet but i felt an urgency to comment. mr.keenan, im sure its weird to get admired from ones who are just as damaged as you but those are the ones who your words resonated with. its not your fault that some are too vacuous to understand your logic which at times are truth at its most basic level. we all are messed up, but the way you have lived and the way you create you are more ahead of the game than most and thats why you are so revered. we recognized that, some ofyour teachers recognized that, and your family recognizes this. i hope you see this or someone tells you. dont worry about failing us rabble, we live, fail, succeed and die based on our own choices. for you whats most important is you your family and those you bring in who deserved to be brought into your perfect inner circle. i will always love and respect you. AJR
why do so many fans care about Maynards political views? who gives a shit? they're just opinions! views! you can't just despise someone just for not having the same damn opinion as you! liberal this, left wing that, it's all a bunch of shit. just block all that out, and listen to him. sorry for the small rant.
The Philosophy Of Tool clearly.
The Philosophy Of Tool but really, all I'm saying is if you don't like his point of view, then just don't listen. Don't hate the guy for being a left winger, and then hate him for everything else because of it. This is mostly pointed towards right wingers, because it's mostly them who I've seen complain the most. Personally, I enjoy hearing the man talk, and I enjoy hearing and visualizing the world from his view
Well some people will always hate someone for their political views, but I feel a lot respect Maynard for his insight. It's always better to listen to a lot of different ideas than live in a echo chamber.
Christian Tovar because they suck, he is another illuminati puppet, same as the rest of Hollywood.
ArminMeiwes23 that shit doesn't apply to smart bands, only dumb ass rappers and pop ho's looking for financial gain, selfishness. .. Maynard is an artist, not a satanist!
Fantastic interview that shows the professionalism needed on both sides discussion to produce such great results. For those continually attacking TOOL for not putting out an album, consider that they do not owe you a new album, they did not owe you any of the albums that came before either. Do not, as a listener, ever let your ego go so far as to believe that any artist owes you anything. Be thankful for what you have received, be patient for what is yet to come, and if you want a great album to come out before the next one, then please, create an album yourself and offer it up to the world.
I love how he does measure word by word to do a kindly soft spoken speech. I love his way to be so kind.
Hey Maynard, when you and you said you failed to move something within us, that you were the bulldozer and that the aggression at Tool shows were us trying to move it based on your words. For me personally, that's not the case. I experience the aggression (not usually the one causing it) as a reconnection with the moment when we first were moved internally by your words. This is our yoga, our little piece of sanity when we can connect with other people in the world who have internalized the power your music has given us and to reawaken our passion. We do that because you helped us move something within us long ago. Thank you for that. You/Tool/Puscifer has done us all a huge favor and that's why I'll always come and support you/your endeavors. Great book btw, greetings from SF. Hope to see you soon.
WHAT A GREAT INTERVIEW
I thought I was Hallucinating looking at the cicadas at first
Crazy Dave yeah is it just me or are they moving as they rotate??
No I don't think so, the blue lowest foot/claw traces out the same vertices/points on the graph every period.
they are not rotating. It must be the LSD that somebody slipped you
ure not buggin they are deff rotating
I just love listening to how soft-spoken he is, in contrast to his vocals, especially for Tool
This is amazing. It is inspiring. Beyond elated to see James 3 times live with Tool, and once with APC, always a treat beyond.
Maynard is wicked smart...he's a conduit to something so much more important than my opinions. I was led to his music, etc. when I started asking the important questions. He's been one of my teachers and whether he cares about it or not is totally irrelevant - he's served a positive purpose for me and whoever just listens and allows the message of the music to resonate, you will be led...😜✨
I think Maynard can do whatever he wants.
and he has shown that. look how it backfires when he abandoned his supporters
Just as long as I don't like it...
I think he wants you to realize you also do what ever you want. Ride the spiral. Learn to swim. Use your work ethic to be your best you.
damn his voice sounds amazing...
I can listen to him forever. He has a lot of truth and wisdom to what he says. Especially about making mistakes.
19:00
Still the best music I've ever heard.
Starting around 13:30 Maynard speaks volumes as to maybe why there hasn't been a new Tool album just yet. Tool has never been just a band, and definitely not a group to follow "normal/expected" patterns. Whatever the collective reasoning of Tool, when they finally release a new album it will be what they wanted to release and well worth the wait.
Puscifer will always be my favorite of the 3
Sounds like a conversation under a child's blanket fort. I like it
Hilarious that people could actually *listen* to Tool's lyrics and then be surprised that he'd be against everything that this Trump administration represents. Or to think that he wouldn't be empathetic enough to understand the plight of marginalized people.
Man, how did Took collect so many Republican fans that despise themselves for loving Tool. Did you guys listen to any of the lyrics? Their liberalism shouldn't be a shocker, and did you actually listen to all 40 minutes of a guy you disagree with just so you could troll the comments? That's amazing.
Tf is took
If artist weren't forced to grand stand political biases nobody would know the wiser. Picking a political side does not strengthen any message or lyric of Tool/PC/Puscifer
such a great interview because of both parties
Awesome interview
Maynard....you soothe me, darling! I bought the book!
thank you
side note this is one of the most ignorant comment sections I've ever seen I feel sorry for the man who uploaded this
Maynard's voice is like butter on hot mash potatoes . His voice was meant for Radio
cereal4u fuck, now I want some Maynard audio books.
great ASMR video!!!
25:50 you can imagine maynard must've been sighing the hugest sigh of relief internally that he may have ever felt at that question.
probably the best question i've ever heard (imo) posed to MJK.
Tool is such a powerful band, hands down the best music ever created by 4 people
i have a clue about the new album it will come out when we're all dead !
Voodoo Mojo I have to agree
There better be new album conversations on here.
Guys he says near the end why he sounds not so good. Watch the whole video before making assumptions
The art is it moving or am I high af?
Reinaldo Cartagena both
Excellent, ty...
"moving things in her body that most people are incapable of moving" :D
so many comments so many comments
heart swelling with the pressure...
and pop
i yield the remainder of my time
New Tool album will come be patient!
Great question on asking "What you reading?". Joseph Campbell nice one Maynard.
"There's a war coming. There's a war coming." thanks for the heads up!
And now we have Covid
@@jade_08 covid will feel like an appetizer if things keep happening. it'll likely be actual war
The left wants a race war.. sad
Inspirational.
"It's like herding cats." Lol, what a great analogy.
Maynard mentions "work" a whole lot. I wonder if he is an adherent of Gurdjieff.
I enjoy Maynard interviews, but the pretentious bollocks in the comments section is always more entertaining. :-D
When is the new TOOL album being released.
So... What did he say about the new album? (too lazy to watch the full interview)
Maynards music is like 10th level wind. And you can understand 3rd level, and all the patterns make you feel comfy in 8.
I appreciate all the praise for Michigan brother. It isn't perfect here but we are definitely unique in the Union..
Where do they talk about Tool?
couple things:
1) Seems like MJK always wants to downplay the importance Tool has played in his life. Sure, he's had other achievements, but no one is especially interested in those things, and they didn't earn him the mega-bucks that enabled him to invest in wine-making, etc.
Even Adam Jones has pointed this out in a recent interview, when he was told that MJK mentioned the live Halloween Tool show by saying the other guys "had to con him into it." Adam said, and I quote, "I'd rather you talk to him about it, but we all know that the stuff he does outside of Tool he wants it to be just as important as Tool, and the Tool fans are the main people who support that. And the Tool fans are the ones who made the other opportunities happen for him. So I don't know why the fuck he would say something like that."
Adam goes on to say, "He must be joking or taken out of context," but from the text it seems like Adam is a little annoyed by MJK's attitude. I feel like MJK's other projects are obviously nowhere near as good as Tool, but he has a hard time admitting it----reminds me of chess master Bobby Fischer, who said in his later years, "I'd be a genius at anything I put my mind to, I just happen to be a genius who plays chess."
2) MJK shows his egotism in this interview with his false modesty----when he says, "I failed," it's actually contrary to what he claims his stance is, which is to dislike the way rock singers are idolized. Yet he says, "I failed," as if his role as singer was to awaken awesome potentials in every listener, and when they still worship him, he's failed to empower them. On the one hand that's self-deprecating & modest by claiming failure, but on the other hand, he himself is playing right into that role that sycophantic fans hold him to, and that he claims to abhor, by acting like his art had some holy mission or purpose. That attitude is exactly why some idiots worship him. No, the FANS failed, Maynard. To say, "I failed..." is to take yourself too seriously, as if you were some guru---which is what you get mad at people for treating you like! See the self-contradiction there??
Yeah. I like the Sticking with the blaming as that will be emotionally stimulating to the ones (?) who (?) need (?) it / perhaps sparking the ultimate fandom transposition awakening
I’m just dipping my toe into exposing myself to this whole tool : James Keenan thing
really cool, i should really pick up a copy
13:52 Most accurate words in this whole video. I feel same.
the fact that Maynard doesn't yell or sing in an intense way as much as in the past when making old albums almost make me not want a new album because i would have a feeling it wouldnt be "tool" Maynard isn't as angry as in the past and all the anger and craziness made him a really great in the past but now he doesn't have that in him like if you've watched all recent live shows he seems pretty separated from the band as in a couple right at the end of the concert he just walks off and does nothing else he's not as connected with the band as before and that just makes me think a new album just might not be a good idea but who knows could be better then the rest of the albums if he's hiding some things whoooooo knoooooowwwwsssss
So many people give Maynard shit for not releasing the album when they want it, so i'll touch into this.
If Maynard listened to everyone and released the albums when they wanted, it wouldn't be top quality. He isn't even a perfectionist, the band is! So, If you all would take a grain of fucking patients and just fucking wait, everything will be fine.
Can anyone please tell me if Maynard has ever spoken about Lateralus' Holy Gift ? I listened to it and i'm wondering if it was meant to be like that or is it just fans over analyzing Tool's music.
Tool the trance heaviness is back🤘🤘🤘🤘
i wonder if at 14:58 he's referring to like a swans show.
i know i definitely felt that way when i saw them in 2013.
Maynard: "And then,-"
Interviewer: interjects and changes the subject.
Apart from that, great listen
This is why my sons name is Keenan:)
I think 10,000 days was a clue as to when the next album would drop...
When he was like “I’m reading Joseph Campbell again...” I was like fuck yea!
there hasn't been a new tool album cause art. cannot be rushed Maynard cannot be rushed
this is some good asmr
Late 1900's. 95, 98.
Conquer and Divide!
What song did they play at 9:37?
"Weak and Powerless" by A Perfect Circle
There music is very unique but there lyrics are actually meaningful and helpful and true
ohhh Maynard is pretty cool, he has had so many impossible things to overcome in his life.
MJK interviews have the same excitement level as a Bill Belichick press conference
it's not supposed to be entertaining.
what it is, what it was, and what it shall be...all things TOOL
Maynard for president
perSonal growth is so important here...
"wouldn't buy the wine if it weren't for Tool or A perfect circle" no shit Jim, we wouldn't know about YOUR wine if it wasn't for YOU in your band's
3:25 -3:31
Can't rush excellence.
👏👏👏
why so edited?
"you are going to be food"
incredible.
Around 26 minutes in, Maynard talks about fans questioning the new album. For some it's probably entitlement, for others like myself, it's from the fact that every year for 7 or 8 years we've been told by the other 3 members of Tool that the new record is coming. The fact that Tool has trolled it's fans before gave a false hope & a desire to hear new music from our favorite band.
Maynard lives up the hill from me. He sure loves grapes.
u for real?
bwanna23 I live in dewey lol I go to his winery all the time. great wine
Have you ever met or seen him?
No. But he has a little 'Puscifer' shop just a few doors down from the 'Spirit Room' in Jerome, AZ. I like to check and see if he's there when I go by.
Can't we all just get along.
Derek white ^this
I gave up on the new album in 2014.
even tho I love U.....your a great mind.
hi i make sacred geometry with bukake
April 28, 2017 the 11 year anniversary! Real tool fans know the importance of 11...fingers crossed. (Also don't believe this to be real without MJK himself in the video..or lack there of)
If i had a scab everytime he said UUMM i WOULD be one big scab i lived by his same town as his Judy's parents an they where at APC at KENT STATE not sure they dug it???..bad ass show for sure
I listen to Tool for Tool, not Maynard for his wacky ass ideas and thoughts on life lmao. Tool isn't Maynard. Tool is an entire different entity on it's own. Individually, they are all just a bunch of "nerds." As Maynard called himself and his band mates.
