Maybe (my suggestion ) you might want to fry those small dried fish with chillies and anion in vegetable oil. Try it.. add some salt and sugar for better test.. in my hometown we call it “ sambal” 😅

You will see things as you have said, reminds me of what a Ghanian said to me while living in Tokyo, as I suggested living with her and her mom. That must be a common saying in Ghana. She was the first person that I met that had Diamonds in her teeth. Needless to say, they didn't allow me to live with them, that I wouldn't see things.

Akple looks something like ugali in Kenya although ugali is stirred until hard and salt isn't used
It is ugali, we just prefer it very soft that’s the only difference.
