- The professional body for psychotherapists has acknowledged, after being sued by a student James Esses that the legal protection exists for the belief in only two genders. The student was removed from their course for expressing 'gender critical' views.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy has further stated that the opinion advocating counseling for children questioning their gender, instead of an immediate path to medical treatment, is considered 'valid' in the professional realm. Additionally, the council said that it is against the law to discriminate against therapists holding such beliefs.
Peter Cardwell speaks to James Esses to get his reaction to the story.

As a therapist myself I draw a hard line noting that as a psychotherapist, it's not my job to affirm anything about anyone. It's to help explore and learn. The propoganda I was exposed to in my education was surreal. Now we have a whole generation of mental health professionals who dont understand the difference between therapy and Marxist activism.

Governments and medical world know that the medication to stop puberty causes alot of damage to the body as its not allowed to develop and mature and the person becomes sterile. That the surgeries causes sterilisation and higher risks for developing infections.
Because the available evidence shows that medical intervention (for trans people who want it) has a very low regret rate, and it is associated with a dramatic reduction in psychological distress. those seem like good reasons to me.

Yep, that’s how we’re in this mess because most of the therapists are nuts, and the ones that aren’t are afraid of the ones that are. He’s a brave guy to stand up to the nutters.
Unfortunately it’s true, I work in the field and although I understand that having some people with lived experience can be helpful it has become more a case of the insane running the asylum due to all the equality and diversity quotas and not being able to discriminate. I have had shifts at work where I have spent more of it worrying and looking after colleagues rather than the patients that I should be caring for. It’s a joke.
I find it rather frightening it's not just therapist but the whole NHS has lowered standards to meet diversity quota

Let's be honest, these institutes are also scared and under pressure. They would not be able to come out and defend him. The consequence could be dire... They could lose their job, the degree program could be shut down or not receiving enough applicants in the future.

I experienced a similar situation. I was doing a degree in couples therapy in London and the lecturers were “ encouraging “ a certain ideology and if I brought up any differing view, they were shut down. I was offered to repeat the year with “ supportive” mentoring or leave. It was a snake pit of ideology! Btw, I already had two degrees in psychological field with 1st.
Every responsible mental health professional throughout history has taken the stance that you do not buy into the delusions of the patients.

If a supposedly professional therapist is so fragile as to require a "safe space" merely on account of being in the same room as someone who disagrees with them, perhaps they're in the wrong line of work. It feels really similar to when a sports player puts on a show of being 'fouled' even though nobody touched them. Such bizarre behavior.
My best friend studied psychology about 15 years ago. He remarked that almost everyone there had significant mental issues, which is why they studied psychology in the first place.
I imagine it's even worse now.

Completely agree. Working in this field it's just astonishing how many of the training institutions have been captured by this insane ideology - they now operate like cult organisation doubling down on poorly thought out, pseudo religious beliefs in the face of any challenge. They hang the threat of extreme sanctions (cancellation or expulsion from the cult) if it is questioned.
I have to say that in my experience most of my colleagues operate independently of this cultish nonsense and maintain a healthy respect for both the sensitivities of the patient in the work as well as truth and reality. mostly because this is a much better therapeutic approach with much better outcomes.
The reason for it becomes clear when you follow the money. All these training institutions, formerly independent, are now totally dependent on universities for academic accreditation (without which they will be un accredited), or on the NHS for funding.
Neither the NHS, nor the universities, will provide accrediation or funding for training institutions which do not incorporate and implement the DEI message, of which this nonsense is an integral part.

Imagine an anorexic person (a mental condition where the person SEES and BELIEVES something they are not) went to a therapist for help and the therapist not only agreed that they were too fat but helped them write out a meal plan for 200 calories a day.....
