About Dude Dad:
Hi! I'm Taylor Calmus, a rural South Dakota born and Colorado-based actor/comedian. I started Dude Dad© two weeks before my son Theo was born as a way to stay creative while learning to be a father. My wife Heidi and I now have 4 kids and over 500+ videos. We also have a TV show on the Magnolia Network called Super Dad. My purpose for the channel is to entertain, enlighten and inspire.

“A native would’ve choked you out by now.” Truer words have never been spoken. 😂
"Didn't you forget the Rockies?"
"No I did not."
I'm dead! 🤣🤣🤣
For real!!
“Just call it The Springs.” 😂 so accurate!
The Springs is Idaho Springs. I'll die on this hill.
@@LizT-qx3xl sorry, but CO Springs is The Springs. It’s the largest population, otherwise we could get in the weeds over Glenwood Springs, Steamboat Springs, Manitou Springs, Pagosa Springs… biggest in population gets the title.
@@amberbanuelos7053grew up in Eastern cO in the 90’s and when we drove to the city for shopping or to see a Dr o
We were going to “The Springs”.
Nope! It's my hill, and you can't take it away from me. It's the only town in the county that has a chain grocery store... maybe there's a King Soopers over by Bergen Park, but that's Evergreen, and Evergreen ain't gonna be anything but Evergreen.
@@LizT-qx3xlI lived in George Town. We called Idaho springs IS . The Springs is Colorado Springs
As someone who lives on the Western Slope, this whole thing screams "Front Ranger Transplant School."
Or ski town yuppies
You didn't stay until the end. The end was for you. 😆
“Nope food poisoning”😂😂😂
I missed dinner with a friend I hadnt seen in years because he was doing Casa Bonita in 06 to avoid the food poisoning he did get.
The transplant was right. Back in the day the sopapillas were the only safe thing to eat.
So many people won't understand all these references! But for those that do they're amazing!
💯
I’m from California so I’m in the “I don’t get this one” category, but from the others’ comments its sounds like they hit on something!
Taylor did his homework on this one. 💯
4th generation native--you NAILED it!!! Btw: it's the transplants from California that are a**holes on the roads--we natives are as nice as you midwesterners. Casa Bonita is a reliable purveyor of food poisoning since I was a kid in the 80s (and well before that). Sigh, good times. Welcome to the club!
Casa Bonita is a great way to weed out the weak transplants from the strong. Darwinism at it's most useful!
California natives don’t move out of California. More transplants re-transplanting 😮
Fun fact dude dad is from LA 😂
@@jessiethrelkeld3628 he’s a South Dakota native , moved to LA , then Colorado .
@@jessiethrelkeld3628 ah, just like every other current Coloradan!
As a lifelong Colorado driver, the correct answer is to get into the left lane if you can when someone is merging onto the highway. If you can't, then you should slow down to let them in, but things are getting crazy out here for sure. 😬
Yes! That's what I've done since I was 15 because that's what everyone else did, lol. Except on 225, where I never go because the other drivers are trying to kill you.
As a native, no. You maintain speed and they merge around you. They're merging, their problem is absolutely correct.
As a Massachusetts native (top 5 worst drivers in the country imo,) driving on any highway in Colorado is a real gut check
"The natives are probably debating it in the comments" Me: About to type a paragraph about how Taylor doesn't know what he is talking about since he's only been here for like 5 years.
"Didn't you forget the Rockies?" "Nope, I did not."🤣
Colorado Native and this is 100% accurate. Great job!!
As a native, I definitely pronounce the state like "Colorahdo". No idea where I got that from. Also, I have chapsticks everywhere. Bathroom, bedroom, my car, husband's car, daily bag, hiking bag, etc. When you need it, you need it.
And hand lotion… and a Subaru
That's how native Idahoans say Colorahdo... Course there aren't many native Idahoans left either...
Don't forget about the ones stored in the pockets of your favorite jackets... Or is that just me?
If you use it too much though, you might get a thing called lazy lip :)
I have 4 come every month in my subscribe and save from Amazon, lol. They are EVERYWHERE.
As a transplant married to a native, this is way too accurate. 😂
Spent 3 years in Colorado and loved it. This should be a series. So much more to include!
Drawing the vehicle out of the Nalgene with stickers!! 😂😂
Stay out of the springs is the best info in this program.
As a Springer, I wish everyone would follow this advice.
I simultaneously love and hate how accurate this is
"Ever heard of Ault?"
Never have I been so insulted by something I 100% agree with.
I own a ford and I live in Ault... and I sadly also have to agree
I worked on a project "Ault to Eaton" a few years back. 5th Gen native, never heard of either of em.
Been in Colorado 43 years and I still had to go look up where Ault is at. Actually it looks like a pretty neat little town - with 2 stoplights!
I used to drive trough alt and Eaton from Greeley when I student taught in ft Collin’s. Otherwise I’d have no clue.
No, Ault is not A Pretty Neat Little Town... it is actually "A Unique Little Town". But you probably have to go there to know that.
Love the ice scraper as your pointer! As a CO native, this hits home. 😅
Ice scraper good.
Hot water bucket bad.
😂😂😂
Yes! Please stay out of the Springs! 😂
Please stay out of Fort Collins too!
Oops, too late!
🤷😜🤣
Amen!
I live near Boulder and someone just told me recently “oh you are so from California!” When I said “the 119”
Folks north of Denver say 'RAD' in Colorado, and folks south of Denver say 'ROD' in Colorado.
Talked to my fellow natives at work to verify.
Ohhhh this is interesting!
I live in the Springs, can confirm I and everyone down here say “rod” lol
Just north of Denver, guess I gotta 'RAD' my ColoRADo. Thanks for the heads up.
Transplant from Chicago living just south of Denver, I’ve had my Midwest accent too long to naturally say ‘ROD.’ My apologies, native Coloradans living south of Denver.
Exactly!
“Terrier mix” 😂
That was my LOL moment😂
We only have 3 shows left this year and they're all in Colorado! Hope to see you there! www.dudedad.com/pages/dude-dad-live
The front range mantra: be like I-25 and never stop working on yourself no matter how inconvenient it is for others.
Always enjoy your comment... Btw, can I get a link for that orange couch??
I was confused through the whole video . But still was laughing. 😂
We truly are an experience to behold. And for many of us, it's not because we enjoy anything from a dispensary.😂😂😂
Me as well
If you lived in CO you’d get every single sentence he says 😂. It’s so spot on it’s odd! Ha ha
When he said your only other option is to live east of I25, I felt that in Greeley 😂😂😂
It's "Loo-uh-vull". Pay attention. It's Derby week.
Totality agree! Transplant to Kentucky for almost 2 years & definitely learned quickly how to pronounce Loo-uh-vull! Hubby & I are still learning somethings & with our traveling in the RV fulltime for 12+ years we picked up from many places we've been (Oregon, CA - native born, upper mid west, south west, Texas, southern states & Ozarks of Missourah (yes, I came by this because of my mother's family was from Neosho / Joplin area)
Native approved! Driving/merging didn’t used to be like this, you can drop the The from Poudre. You’re hilarious!!!
The heck it wasn't. They did this to trucks in the mousetrap all the time in the 80s.
When I worked at the DMV in Lakewood, I had to process all the duplicate titles, and there were some Colorado towns I never even had heard of before and I am a Colorado native!😂
The "forget everything I taught you and start applying for elk tags" gets me every time
Grew up on the Front Range. Currently living on the Western Slope....😂😂😂😂 There be truth in this tale!!😂😂😂😂
Go back. Lol
"Didn't you forget the Rockies?" "I did not."
And that, folks, is how you tell a true native from a transplant. A native Coloradoan passionately supports the Rockies no matter how early in the season they fall apart.
The answer to "no matter how early in the season they fall apart" is 2019.. they fell apart in the 2024 season in 2019
Taylor: “Didn’t you forget the Rockies?”
Me: Colorado has a baseball team?
When I went to colorado to meet up with my boyfriend where he was living in a small town everyone was nice. Until I said i was from california and then everyone groaned and gave me the dirtiest look. Took a week but they started to like me.
Depends how you vote. Lol ✌️
Nobody likes people from California
I don’t believe you.
Def took more than a week 😂
They're merging it's their problem!
That works no matter where you live
@@Bdhstl95that be true, read the driver's manuals, that's what they teach.
Me watching this very state specific video while living in the Netherlands: Ah yes interesting 🤔
*Colorado Invasive Species School*
There, I fixed it for ya!
😂😂😂
Western slope doesn’t really drink Coors either. Born and raised 4th gen native. Happy you guys landed here!
Yeah, the western slope thing was a bit of a reach if you ask me. But still funny.
Palisade peaches, the best part of Colorado for sure. ❤😍 I’m from Missouri!
I grew up in Arvada, Co. Some people pronounce it Ar-vauda when is Ar-va-da, like Nevada.
SO annoying when people say Ar-vauda😂😂😂
As a Colorado native (now living elsewhere because I can't freaking afford Colorado anymore) I can confirm absolutely every one of these things! LOL
I've been trying to forget the Rockies since 2001. But love em anyway. 14 years in Denver now in Alabama
Sending this to my Ft. Collins, CO son! I keep telling him to keep his eyes pealed for Dude Dad!!
This is way too accurate! 😂
He shoulda said "I'm not a Native, I just went to CSU"🤣🤣🤣
I couldn't imagine not moving over for someone trying to merge 😅 Wyoming is completely different
The drivers here are pretty nuts.
Anyway, I like Wyoming!
No no no it's obviously "catch da la river"
Taylor I would love to spend 5 minutes inside your brain to see how you come up with this stuff, you are hilarious 🤣😂😅
Hahahahahahha in my part of Canada a transplant is someone who was brought here as a kid. Adults that move here are called come from aways. Or just...from away. For the next 30 years. As in oh that's Gerald, he come from away back in '97 eh. e's ok but he sure do talk funny! 'is kids? Oh, ya, transplanted em too. Good kids. Daughter married Bill's lad from up over the hill 2 year ago an 'they be spectin their first baby long bout here any time. Beer?

Newfoundland?
Ouray! It's the dead give away of a transplant.
You make fantastic videos dude dad!!!! Thanks for all you do ,you make the world a better place
I am an Oklahoma boy who married a girl from Colorado Springs 23 years ago. All of this is true.
You crack me up. Keep it up y'all! Cheers from Boulder.
You forgot Ouray in the pronunciation. I was looking forward to that one.
I live in Olathe Co, but have to come to the office for work once and month. I have a guy I work with and no matter how many times I tell him how to say Ouray correctly he insists on saying it incorrectly
“Colorado! Dang it NO! RAD! Colorado! Keep Colorado RAD!” 😅 Too accurate 😊
Haha! The windshield scraper pointer 😂. Made me think of every winter growing up in Denver!
lol! We are an Army family headed to ColorOdo SPRINGS! Lol the springs haha Fort Carson and will be like 40 mins from Pueblo! This was perfect timing for us haha 😆
I would like to submit my application to be a transfer instructor. I don’t live in Colorado but I live in a tiny town 6 miles from the Colorado border and am constantly over there to go shopping for things as simple as decent produce, clothes and shoes so I might as well be a Colorado resident at this point.
Love it. Tried to post this to facebook but it made the hippies cry.
Agree with all but not sure where I fit in here. Born and raised in the Springs and moved back during pandemic, but spent 15 years in NYC and ❤still in Brooklyn. My family is here though
Lmao I was so emersed that I didn’t think until the very end.. wait that was Taylor playing both characters 😂😂
I don't get this lesson since I'm from upstate ny but it is none the less very entertaining lol.
I love all your videos!
One of my favorite videos you’ve made! Haha
You missed all the water bottles. Everyone I know has an entire cupboard full of water bottles (around my neighborhood it's mostly Contigo). We never leave the house without water bottles. And we all drink SO MUCH WATER. We recently were visiting out of state and no one had water...it was so weird.
This is sweet. Although I grew up in Colorado and we used to be Colman stoves and John Denver.
Wear your sunblock.
❤️
As a Louisianan, the Louisville thing had me 💀
You're a Louisianian and a Maddox? Hey, Cousin!
Definitely had to get the Louisville pronounced correctly when we first moved to Kentucky!😂 With all of our traveling, our vocabulary is a mix of CA, Southern, Texan, Missourian & now Kentucky!
This is definitely more a front range thing, but I can appreciate it 😂 disregard this I just finished the end 🤣 my gosh you nailed it.
This is hilarious! We are in the process of closing on a house in COS and moving from FL. Super relevant haha
Keep us posted in a year if you are still here. Hint: snow in May & June, normal. Actually any month but august. And no just getting a 4 wheel drive isn’t going to let you drive on snow!
Bro who tf doesn’t want to live on the western slope? Least accurate part about this 😂
Western slope is pretty dope. Probably shouldn't be telling people that though...
This person has no idea what they're talking about, the western slope is absolutely terrible. Dont move here. And please keep publishing articles about how terrible it is! Terrible place. Very scary. Not beautiful at all.
@@Zman1379😂
Please 🙏🙏 tell me your going to do one with charlie berens about Coloradan's being transplanted into other states. I moved with my wife to Iowa .... Don't get me started and it's been a hell of an adjustment.
My husband moved me to Ohio and Georgia. That was 15 years of hell save my darling children
Came back in 2008, I will never leave again. But all my family is in Iowa, so that’s where I would go if I had to. So there’s that?
Clever 😂 just saw you have comedy tour coming up and that’s so bad man❣️👏🏼👏🏼😃
The casa bonita food poisoning is 1000% accurate 😂
Not gonna lie, I’m dying from laughter!
I’ve heard it called just “beyounie”, Pueblo as “pee ebb lo” Westminster as westminister, don’t even try saguache. You are hilarious. 50 year eastern transplant who has purchased 5 Subarus here.
Pueblo was always “pee-u” town when I was a kid
I am impressed saguache got an honorable mention
I, a front range native, met someone from Buena Vista who was very adimate that it was NOT "Bewnie" and "Bee-vee" was only acceptable for BV natives. The rest of us ought call it Bewna Vista. 😂
Bewnee, Sawatch, Del Nort, Sal-eye-dah, Monty, and by a prominent Republican state senator in the 1970's, Pew-ebb-low. Also, the river that drains the Culebra is pronounced "Picketwire" but google knows how to spell it properly (Purgatoire). The oldest town in Colorado is San Luis, but it's in the South East corner of the San "Louis" Valley. Its much-coveted water is drained by the Ree-Oh Grand, unless you are an actual cowboy, in which case you might call it the Ree-Oh-Grandee. But the railroad is the Rye-Oh Grand (Don't blame me, argue with Commodore Vanderbilt).
Pueblo can be pronounced over a dozen different ways. I lived there for a few years (under duress...hurried back to Denver as soon as I could) and where I worked we kept a list...
So. Spot. On. Hilarious!! 😂
Best video yet. So good.
As a Transplant married to a native we both cracked up. You nailed it!!
I’m an Oregonian and we for sure need someone to make us one of these videos! My grandmother was born and raised in Colorado but she always pronounced it in a kind of hybrid way as someone else commented it was more like “Colorahdo”. 💜💚🧡
The beauty of homeschooling and getting to do school work outside at our picnic table on nice days.
Too funny. Nobody on the western slope drinks Coors since they quit buying barley in Montrose in '84...not that we carry a grudge!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Taylor, i had to learn this stuff, but in Michigan, not Colorado. Thankfully, my mom is a native, as are my aunt and uncle. Also, i had spent ALOT of time out here over the years before moving, so i picked certain things up on my own. My husband, however, was completely out of his element. What's hilarious is that we have been together 19 years as of this year (5 dating, 14 married) and i have been trying to educate him the whole time. I don't think he believed about 85% of what i was saying, because he was totally out of his element for a while. He was born and raised in Southern California, I had lived there for 25 years before we moved to Las Vegas for a decade. We moved to Michigan 5 1/2 years ago. First time deer season came around, he kept hearing guns go off and it scared the crap out of him (we lived with my parents at the time, the house was on 22 acres of woods, and our neighbors both to thr north and south would be doing target practice and also hunt from their deer blind). He started believing everything i had been telling him for 14 years at that point.
This is spot on. Nicely done - even though you're a transplant you got it figured.
Looove Canon City! Camped there back in Summer 2018. 💖
“Ope”, really? That was your tell 😁
My daughter (Colorado native, finishing up her freshman year of college in the Midwest) totally caught that in the video too, LOL.
South Dakota transplant here and I heard that immediately 😂
I lived in "A Unique Little Town" for 5 years. Loved the video
Nailed it!!!! …. all except ColoRAHdo for the majority of true high altitude Natives! True for Buenie (or even just “BV”) for Buena Vista. A non-native would also say Veesta!
But we don't call it Buena Vista. It's Byooney or BV. And Canon City only recently added the squiggly thing over the N so out of towners would know how to pronounce it. I remember taking a dermatologist down the Arkansas in my raft guide days and having him assault my ears with sunscreen at the put-in. I got food poisoning at Casa Bonita after I took my daughter there for her birthday. My husband has an F150. We adopted a pitbull 3 weeks ago. (Oops - terrier mix) Good job, Dude Dad. -Transplant from Tennessee, going on 30 years.
Lumineers are the best
“The 25” 🫠
“The interstate” 🤝
Calling Calorado is the same debate of freaking oregon lmao.
If you’re an old timer then I-25 is actually the Valley Hwy! Also, some other words that you need to know how to pronounce are Arapahoe, Ouray, Olathe, and Arvada.
I almost forgot, Montrose! You need to learn how to correctly pronounce that too!
I know this is done for comedy but gosh I am LEARNING. Edutainment ftw Dude Dad 👏👏👏
btw, is there a particular joke / significance as to how the flag is hanging there? or is that just how it's supposed to be oriented?
Come to Phoenix, AZ!! (Or Tempe or Mesa, AZ would be good too).
Spot on!
10 year transplant and im rolling!!
Im in Montana and this is accurate. LOL
Lived in Denver 35 years so good to be back in Milwaukee 💪🏆
denver is not Colorado! It's more like little California. IOt's even full of California expats.
F150 and a Carhartt, so accurate 🤣
Colorado native and I agree 💯!
