    I like your lay out. It's great to have kids on the property, they will be able to help you out when needed and it's nice to have good company close by.

      +@raybonecrusher4516 Thanks Ray! That’s my idea of the only compound I need.

    Smart thinking. My aunt had her house in the middle and daughter in right side of her house and son on the left all in their own houses. It was her husbands parents old farm place property.

      +@judithcoe7551 I see this gaining in popularity for sure. I like my family being around.

    I'm not going to let someone other than family rent a room or put a tiny house in my back yard. I can understand why you won't do it. The whole "prepper community" or compound idea makes sense in a lot of ways, but I'd rather be friends with my neighbors and help each other when needed, than all live on one piece of property. Especially if it's someone else's property. I'm really looking forward to seeing how your house turns out. In regard to your land, I've seen someone said they got a good deal on their property because they can build on both sides of it, because it's so steep. I think some of these folks have already hit the lottery, or were executives at some big corporation. They sure have a lot more money than we do! Linda and I both have health issues, and we MUST live close to medical help. As far as off-grid living, I applaud those folks who can and do. In our case, our solar power will be as a backup and to keep our bill low. I'm the same age you are, and I'm not trying to make my little house into a doomsday bunker. I'm just trying to be as self-reliant as I can, and to live comfortably. We have water, and electric on the grid, and garbage pickup. We also have a generator, and soon we'll have solar. Water catchment and filtration also. Gotta take care of ourselves, nobody else is going to do it for us. All the best to you and your family.

    I've been thinking about the shed to house route but it all comes down to money and space. I came across the Arched cabins and like that idea, was wondering about what you think about the Arched cabins.

      +@bs9977 I like the idea of the kits, but the expense is a lot much for me. Also, I’m not sure I’m a fan of that style.

    Joe you would think you would have more consideration to other preppers ideas and dreams

    • @StBernardAcres
      @StBernardAcres  Před 16 dny

      +@Cindy9043atyahoo I have plenty more f considerations for other preppers ideas and plans. As I have mentioned many times, prepping is a personal thing. Everyone is different and has different needs and methods of meeting those needs. There is prepper on here that can tell you “how” to prep for your personal situation, only advise how they do it. I try to explain the negatives I find in other ideas, why they won’t work in my situation, and why I have to choose different routes. Again, perhaps an over abundance of sarcasm and arrogance on my part. But, that’s part of my charm! Thank you for the observation, and comments. They are helpful.

    I told my daughter when she was little, when you were a baby I changed your diaper. Hopefully when I get real old you will be close by to help change mine. She said .... Eww.

      +@user-tn7hc4ww3j That Makes sense. It’s not just Ed doing it. I’m not saying it’s a bad idea, just I’m fortunate enough to have St Bernard Acres. For those that feel the need to have a bug out location, Ed’s and other properties like his that offer it, it’s a viable option.
