  • What's up, guys and girls! Today we review my course of action when it came to finding help for Oscar. After months of positive and negative comments, I figured I would give some insight into what I was thinking at the time of the situation. I am NO medical professional and I did my best to get someone with potentially more knowledge to assist in aiding this individual.

    Love how calm cool and collected you were, thanks for helping out. I believe all riders should have some common knowledge on what to do in the event of an accident/ emergency it can happen to anyone at any place and being somewhat ready to help could save someone’s life.

    Creating urgency was a good move for sure. Even if you pissed some people off that didn’t end up hearing about it, you may have stirred up a medical professional or someone who could actually help….
    Lots to be learned from stuff like this where it went well and didn’t end poorly for the kid.

    EMT in training here! You did very well! Thats pretty much what i wouldve done personally! The questions you asked were pretty good! Theyre called A&O (Alert and Oriented) questions, if they can answer: where they are, what time/date it is, who they are, and what happened. The goal is 3/4 questions answered, means minimal to no trauma to the head. If they do not checkmark 3 of the 4 boxes, you should call the ambulance. Period end of story, they have some form of head trauma.
    Calming that friend of his was great! For future refrence, if theres suspected trauma, do not move the patient, just talk to them, if they dont respond, pinch them (sounds weird, i know, but if they only respond to painful stimuli, needless to say theyre in pretty bad shape-). Other than that, call medical professionals and theyll help out in a pinch!
    Wanted to say well done for keeping calm, getting help and stopping to help him yourself! I hope you learned something from this! If you didnt, no worries, just dont mind me, a nerd just nerding out in a youtibe comments section!😂😂

    you probably wouldn't want to do a sternum rub on someone that just had an impact injury just incase the they might have chest injuries

      @Moto_Mills Yeah boss this is a learning moment for everyone involved. Friend definitely shouldn't have been moving him around like that. Sternum rub wasn't the best idea either. But I appreciate you designating someone else to slow people down over that jump and notifying people who may be able to help.
      Best practice is to calm down his buddy, keep yourself calm. If you're worried about him aspirating, put him in the recovery position (best for you to google, hard to explain). Explain to his friend to keep him stable in the recovery position, and tell him you're going for help. No matter the situation, it's best to call first responders. Yeah it may fuck them monetarily, it may get them deported, whatever, better to be alive with less risk of lasting effects. Overall you responded pretty well but definitely a learning experience.

      Yep. I 100% agree. Working for Chesapeake several years ago I came over a hill and found a semi vs car. The 90 years old man (Yes that was his age) in the car I gone to move out and I felt his shoulder just in pieces. I thought fuck. Only reason I moved him was because of the smoke and the hill.

    Yeah when I broke both my wrist I was in the sand dunes here in Oklahoma. It it was dirt. I would've had more then to broken wrist, a concussion, and 4 stitches in my chest.
    I was going 30 mph. Flew off a 10ft sand cliff. I tried popping my 450 front end up so I wouldn't lose dive but I was in to high of rpm with the sand.
    (Yamaha four wheeler)
    I stood right up. I couldn't see, my nose is caked of sand. Eyes. Ears. I actually did break the strap on my helmet. My phone and wallet both got lost.
    I stood up. I asked my friend if he seen any water. He said yeah that way. I opened my eyes for 2 seconds long enough to see it. I started walking. I washed out the sand from my eyes and looked at my wrist which I already knew was broke. Thought well fuck.
    Then it hit me. What about my back I just had a 400 pound quad land on me going 30 mph off a 10ft cliff.
    So I laid down. My friend freaked out I said I'm just checking myself. I laid there for 10 minutes. Finally stood back up. Thought well time for a hospital trip. I get on my quad and I do a wheelie. I set it down and that's when all the pain hit my wrist. I had 3 surgeries in total on each wrist.
    When I got back to camp. I noticed blood running threw my shirt. I look. I have a decent cash. From my helmet. 😅
    Them chest plates are actually handy lol.

      That’s a gnarly situation dude. The desert is so sketchy for that sole reason, you come over something and it could be a straight drop. Sorry about the outcome of that crash… that sucks no way about it

      @Moto_Mills dude, I thought it was a mellow dune. That sane day, I came across 30ft Cliffs 3x. I just made sure it was an even drop. That 10ft cliff, lmao. I was too high on the rpms to get that quad level at that speed. Anyways, stay, bro.

    reminds of a hike in primary school. we must have been around 8. the girl in front of me was playfully jumping from wet rock to rock. she slipped and i just remembered her eyes looking at me in pain from the ground. i was just a kid so I said i will run to the front and get help, there was no teacher in the front, at least i stopped the other kids from going further away from the group. that's where my memory stops. i heard later that she got surgery on her arm. in the end the story is not such a big deal, but it keeps popping into my mind occasionally and makes me ask questions like should i have stayed with her and have other kids run in both directions. i guess a pretty good approach could have been to collect others nearby, but not make them all come close to her. We should really teach children how to deal with situations like this. now i'm almost 27 and i barely have more knowledge how to handle a situation like this.
    this video doesn't feel to be about "spectating other people's suffering" and it's a good thing to observe the decision making of someone who handled the situation calmly, if we get into a similar position.

    • @jonkluver7912

      I think the friend was panicking trying to wake him up. Being an illegal or not, people don't know what they don't know about how to react in that situation. Ambulance rides are expensive and you can refuse a ride.. once you get in that thing, youre paying for their ride there to you, too.

    • @DJohnson899
      @DJohnson899 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@jonkluver7912 An ambulance ride is better than dying in the middle of the night because you didn't go to the hospital when you were out cold for over two minutes. Top that off with him having almost no motor control, barely aware of what's going on, slurred speech, obvious loss of memory, and very possible c-spine injuries. The dude should have gone to the hospital.

    • @Wildoggs_Adventures
      @Wildoggs_Adventures Před 4 měsíci +2

      Possibly not illegal. Even if they were, the hospital has nothing to do with their paperwork. Most likely they didn’t have insurance. I have family that don’t have paperwork and go to the hospital all the time. But others for lack of insurance because of how expensive it is won’t go to the hospital.
