Rice Cake Recipe in Tamil | Soft and Spongy Arisi Cake | Kalathappam Recipe in Tamil

In this video we will see how to make rice cake recipe in tamil. This is a soft, spongy and fluffy cake which can be made with raw rice. This cake is sweetened with jaggery and the grated coconut adds some texture to the recipe. The added baking soda increases the air bubbles in the cake and makes it spongy. This cake / appam can be made in no time and tastes absolutely delicious. This recipe is also known as Kalathappam and is a traditional Kerala recipe.

Ingredients:
1 cup Raw Rice (200g)
1/2 cup Water
1 cup grated Coconut
1/2 cup Water
1+3/4 cup powdered Jaggery (250g)
1/2 cup Water
little less than 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
pinch of Salt
2 tsp Ghee

Sister.... this is called kalthappam in Kerala very tasty and healthy too. If you fry coconut pieces and onion in ghee and pour it on the top and steam.... it's heaven in your mouth.... thank you for the recipe sis....

Did it today mam...(followed the exact procedures u said)..
I used a cooker..
It burned at the bottom and sides...
Apart from that it turned out to be so good...
Even my mom said...it tastes good..
Only sad thing is bottom of cooker burnt and it took lot of time to clean the cooker😅..
As everyone in home loved the taste.. i want to try it again once...
Would love to know..how to avoid the burning of cooker wt bottom...
