- There is nothing better than a bathtub to soak & relax at the end of the day.
But, before you go shopping for a bathtub, think about the best type of bathtub for your bathroom space. The size, style, and comfortability.
Some of the options include:
- Freestanding bathtub
- Alcove bathtub
- Drop-in bathtub
- Knockdown unit: bathtub integrated with shower
The other IMPORTANT tip we cover in this video that you need to know before you start shopping is:
What is the difference between Fibreglass and Acrylic?
When doing a bathroom renovation, you may want to choose fibreglass over acrylic but it depends on the function of your bathroom.

@@splashesbathandkitchen Bathtubs can also differ from model to model like toilets.
wow
The second freestanding tub how much is it
Question about the free standing or clawfoot tubs. Are they hard to clean around and under especially when they’re up against a wall or more? Do people have to put in a shelf for the things you want to reach for once inside? Sometimes my girl and I just like to soak our feet (after a good wash of course) on mom and daughter “spa dates”. Where would we sit? The drop ins seem so much nicer and practical but the free standing ones are more expensive. I’m not seeing it. What am I missing?
Yes. So many things people do not think about, including how to clean, water retention (old-fashioned metal porcelain do not retain as they don’t misshape), seam fungus, access to needs while IN the tub or shower, etc. That latter is a big bugaboo about “old-fashioned” stand-alone tubs -how do you easily get your soap and shampoo etc? I say this as a user with engineering background, not salesman or interior designer (my sister was one).
@@bkras483 engineering background here too. Our brains work differently I guess 🤓. In case anyone else is thinking through this stuff, we ended up getting XL length and depth (fits two) but chose undermount with tile surround that provides comfortable seating for spa days and putting items within reach while in the tub. Also added a well placed window for light and air, pulled up the tiles a few feet on the walls from the tub so we don’t have to deal with mildew issues from splashes. Been about 3y now and turned out very usable,
comfortable,and cleaning friendly.
I love bat tap so so mush
I have to decide between a freestanding tub and a built in. I have 2 questions.
Can the cost of tiling a built in be excessive? (This is a master bath) and with a free standing tub, which is beautiful, where do you put your wine?? -or book or candles.....
If you look on Pinterest, I’ve seen little shelves you can get that go across the tub almost like a tray
Well I just looking for a bathtub that fits me and my boyfriend 😅
