Hi I'm from the Fiji Islands. For those who don't know much about Fiji Indian's . More than 99% of Indian's here are pure Indian's, not mixed up with other Races like in most other Colonies ..Majority ancestors are from UP , then Bihar, South India , Punjab etc.. We all Speak in Fiji Hindi but majority do understand Hindi and can speak too .

@@Christian_Paul_nz I'm talking about not mixing up with the Natives of Fiji and the Europeans like many did in Mauritius , Guyana, South Africa , Trinidad and lost there language and Culture. Majority North Indians mixed with water each other but not the South Indians , Gujerati. I'm a Punjabi Sikh and I'm not a descendant of a Girmitya but have full Respect for our Girmitya Hindu Brothers . For your information there is no caste system in Fiji for over a century now . So we are not hopelessly mixed up or a cross breed but pure Indians . Even Indians of India are mixed up for centuries ..Sorry no magic machine buddy but looks like we are more Indians than the people of India itself .

    British parliament banned slavery.
Typically changed the label to "indentured labourers."
After the Maumau judgement 14 carribbean nations are suing the colonizers who indulged in slave labour.

More like a propaganda documentary rather than telling the true story of the Indians truthfully as we all know the many discriminations that indians suffered after the coup overthrowing the Indian Fiji PM in 1987.
He also didn’t tell why many young Indian Fijians migrated to other countries than stay in Fiji.
As i said, unshamedly , a propaganda documentary.

So why the British brought indians there by tricking them ?
Bcos they knew the natives could not work and develop the country as how the indians could and history proved this.
So, accept the truth that without indians, Fiji would not have developed as it is now.
So, accept all as citizens bcos of the sacrifices their ancestors made.

The British are to blame for taking the Indians to Fiji. Fiji was the last of the colonies to enter the British Indentured Labour System hence lasted only 60 years. Many Indians came to Fiji from other plantation colonies, many returned to India. One thing is certain, they were not slaves and compared to African slaves who worked the plantations before them for hundreds of years.

Its not only Indians making up the Fijian diaspora, but native Fijians as well. And the second language of Fijian Indians after Hindu is usually Fijian (Bauan). The paucity of intermarriage with other races has caused problems over the years, as has the tendency of many Indian girls to marry early in arranged marriages, thus leading to an unsustainable population explosion, to the point where Indians made up more than half the population at one point. This was not appreciated by the native Fijians who retaliated by abandoning any concept of birth control to redress the balance. But generally speaking the racial groups tolerate each other (barely). The native Fijians, though, will never relinquish one thing and that is the land, about 90% (I think it is) is owned by the matangali, the native land holding groups.
