I feel over-prepared already lol I am only 31 weeks, and having a home birth, but i have already started packing my emergency hospital bags, my nursery is pretty much done, and I have ordered 90% of my home birth kit and postpartum stuff!
That is so awesome! Is this your first? I'm 25 weeks and have slowly been working on things...no home birth for this 40y/o first time momma though but we are days away from possibly hiring a doula who IS allowed in the hospital....THANK GOODNESS
Everytime I have had a baby I always want a chipotle bowl after lol 🤣. Brown rice black beans chicken cheese lettuce and GUACCCCAMOLLLEEE 😍 my hubby isn't a fan of chipotle but he always willingly buys it for me for my "push present" 😂
Can you explain more about the reasons behind not putting hats on babies with little hair?
This was extremely helpful and informative. Extra tips that I never would have thought about. Thank you so so much Kira!
Great refresher video! Was thinking about what to pack this week!
Loved this video one of the best videos on CZcams related to preparing for birth, extremely helpful.. 🙌
This was very helpful & specific. Thank you!
Great video! I am a Birth Doula and just found your channel through the panel you were just on with the opening birth center video. Might be beinge watching your videos as I prepare for first client's birth due April 13th!!😍
Good luck!!! Thanks for subscribing :)
So helpful!
Thank you. So helpful. I will definitely do that. I live too far. I wish I could go to your birth center.
Great tips!
I only did c-sections in the OR, this is so interesting!
I'm so grateful I found your channel!! I'm 20 wks pregnant and just switched to a midwife. I finally feel a sense of calm and excitement. My experience up to meeting my midwife was not pleasant. I'm a first time mom! Thank you for your content!!
Congrats! You’re going to love it!!!
Cord blood tube? Eye gel for post partum application for baby's eyes? I never did L&D. That bag is cool! What to pack for cord prolapse emergency?
Helpful video! I don’t see the link including the list at the top though?
Can you please share your list? like amazon registry or just word document
Awesome thank you!
Hope it helps!
Do you have a new recommendation for a sitz bath?
I’m trying to educate myself as much as I can on my own before I graduate so I’ve just been watching your channel a lot and when you said that depends are comfortable my first thought was “no they’re not” I used to be a bed wetter and I’ve stopped but occasionally have accidents and typically every period I’ll have an accident so my Mom got me some and I do not like them because they always end it clumped up.
More comfortable than those bulky gigantic postpartum pads, haha
@@CajunStork You do have a point on that one, I watched my Mom’s last four natural births and saw what comes in the process of that and every time I cried, but learning about midwifery had changed my perception on pregnancy and labor and postpartum because of how much better it can be and like you said it makes better birth experiences.
@@randomghostonthisapp5370 my sister is getting a product like Depends...if that's not the brand because her friends and sister wife all wore them post partum. I've never worn one so I couldn't say but I would think it might help if there are lots of various things leaking all the time so you can rest better. For me it'll be worth giving it a try and if it doesn't work then trying something else.
@@weldonservicegroup6962 I think it’s also a personal preference I also can’t say the feeling of wearing them postpartum because I’ve never had a kid but they do work I just hate the feeling of them.
For me it was a chipotle’s burrito!
Yum!!
Oh my goodness, here I am, 15-16 weeks pregnant with my fourth and I’m already beyond excited to have this baby 😂
Trying to plan my first homebirth and I am stoked!!!
I absolutely love watching your videos! I love how you cover every birth outcome. (Hosp. Birth center, or homebirth)
It’s nice to find that.
Thank you! I respect that midwifery is possible or right for everyone and I want women to have better birth experiences no matter WHERE they plan to birth!
Hey Kira! Do you dispose of the placenta for your clients or are they required to dispose of it?
We can dispose of it or clients can take it to encapsulate.
Foot print equipment? Have they gone to doing this on computer, with a plug in device to get foot prints, maternal finger print ?father's print? Birth and death certificates?
Bag for placenta?
I've heard lots of people suggesting witch-hazel post partum and I have tried it with hemorrhoids but it BURNED so bad...do you think it may burn post partum too?
Frida just came out with a witch hazel based foam that you may prefer. It’s amazing stuff. Check it out kit.co/CajunStork/birth-packing-preparation

I’m actually starting to pack my birth bags now!
Don’t forget the depends!
This might seem silly but...can you do a video on how to go about using a midwife meaning the process. Do you find the midwife then find out if your insurance covers it or do you contact the insurance first? Do you go to an OB first or do we skip them and head straight to the midwife?...I haven’t found any videos that covers this. Thanks for all the information so far!
Greetings! I currently have a midwife and I just looked in my midwife website to see what insurance plans they work with. If for any reason your insurance doesn’t cover a midwife/birth center your midwife will work with you on financial options. If you already know you want to have a birth center birth than you don’t need to go to a ob.
It depends on your state regulations. Here in Louisiana, clients confirm they are pregnant once with an OB and then transfer to midwifery care as their primary for the remainder of their pregnancy
I went to an OB for the first 11 weeks of my pregnancy, then switched to a midwife. I have interviewed many midwives in my area (Southern Maine), and discovered that midwives don't usually directly bill your insurance, and you'll most likely have to pay out of pocket (around here the average price is between $2500-$3500 due by 37 weeks). However, they have all mentioned something about possible reimbursement through insurance after the birth, depending on your individual plan. None of them guarantee anything though. Hope this helps!
I am always scared to poop while pushing in my labour so I don't eat, what to do in this case?
What about drinking Liquid IV for electrolytes?
Yes!!! Great choice
@@CajunStork Awesome! Thank you!
Candy bar....I ate a full candy bar, no shame. 😂
Just wish your practice was local to me😢
Awww…
Muslin Swaddles is enough? Iive in Georgia, due in Oct
If it’s hot like it is here, then yes!
Do y'all accept people from Mississippi?
Yup!!
After birth I wanted a pancake breakfast. 🤣
We have a Waffle House around the corner from the birth center and Sooooo many of my moms eat that postpartum!
My friend who is Muslim, said she ended up fully naked during her labor and delivery. I mean she did have a women doctors, her husband and her mother. That's all but she was like it's ironic how it happened. I hate skin showing.
