  • DOCTOR ZHIVAGO 1965 Cast: Then And Now 💕 (57 Years After).
Based on Boris Pasternak's 1957 novel of the same name, David Lean's epic historical romance Doctor Zhivago was released in 1965. Robert Bolt wrote the script. The story takes place in Russia during both the Russian Civil War and World War I. Omar Sharif plays the titular character, Yuri Zhivago, a married doctor and poet whose life is affected by the Russian Revolution and the subsequent civil war. Julie Christie plays Lara Antipova, his love interest. Supporting cast members include Geraldine Chaplin, Tom Courtenay, Rod Steiger, Alec Guinness, Ralph Richardson, Siobhan McKenna, and Rita Tushingham.

I was eleven years old, & I too never stopped watching it during all these years.
It makes me teary as I have watched it with my grandma who was Russian refugee. I am from Iran. All my mothers family loved watching it & those beautiful romantic eyes of Omar Sharif.
No character was so built for him at the time.
Beautiful memories. I am 68 now.

However, I really enjoy visiting the area trying to identify the exact sites of every part of the set ( Zhivago´s house, the Kremlin walls, the tram route, etc.).

If it weren't for the director David Lean this would have been just another film. He brought everything he did to life and memorable much more than any other film maker there has ever been. If you haven't check out all his other greats.

I like a many 18 year olds in 1965 fell in love with Lara. The movie still moves me to this day- watched it again a month ago. Luckily for me I found my Lara 54 years ago ( still going strong). We still laugh every time I call her Lara and she calls me Yuri. Believe me when I say the film changed my outlook on life.

My ex looked like Omar Sharif. He had Sicilian ethnicity. Sicily was invaded by what were called the Moors which I believe were mostly Arab. Omar was from Egypt (Arab). So it makes sense.

Communists murdered the Royals; and their children. All the aristocrats and intellectual people; were tortured.
They spoke French mostly. Russian language was spoken by peasants.kj
So most russians who were left, were actually stupid people. Potato picking serfs. Even pushkin spoke French; and learned russian from his servants.
Most of this was hidden by Stalin, the murderous ba**ard.
Fast forward modern day; and rashist orcs are slaughtering Ukrainians.

In Tito’s Yugoslavia Boris Pasternak was forbidden…..Lara’s song come first, than the movie and the novel….
In the beginning of the 90. I was visiting some relatives in London ….
Luckily me ,I nearly bumped to Julie Christie… even more beautiful in the real life , you can see the real lady regardless of the outfit
Her eyes, simple style, the way she was walking …
I was literally staring at her, she gave me a warm smile 💐
