Can you imagine how a Police-less Period Time it must of been like back then in Medieval Ages?!
No Constabulary.
No Medics.
People had to try and save themselves.
It was all part of lifestyle.
They might not have had a police force, but cities had guards and patrols, many villages had some feudal patron looking after his property and workers, others had some council or leader that punished criminals. So I wouldn't really say that people were all living like outlaws and outcasts like Robin and his companions.

There were rules back then, granted it was a more barbaric time, but it wasn't a free for all.

I find it interesting that the French speak French and the English speak English. It aligns two sides that did not yet exist. At that time I imagine that the English would have spoken Anglo-Saxon or Norman or some form of primitive English among themselves. A kind of Spanglish or, in this case, "Normanglish".
Richard the Lion Heart never had contingents of English archers. His armies consisted of retinue of mounted knights and of German mercenaries, the Brabansons. Brabansons were both mounted sergeants and infantry. Anglo-Saxons did not serve Richard, he was for them a French Normann oppressor. The movie completely distorts historical realities

I'm french and the way sir Godfrey speaks french is not correct at all. He says "Allez-y" for "Move" but it doesn't mean anything here... The right translation would be "On se tire !!" or "on s'arrache" or "On se casse"...
