It might be Victoria 1 I'm thinking of, but in at least one of the games it eventually forces you to end slavery because it's just not an economically feasible system past a certain point.
@@principetnomusic, that's literally what we've done in the US. Not only is slavery legal for prisons because of the 13th Amendment but 1 in 3 black men will serve time in their lifetimes. And, not only that, no state pays minimum wage yet several states consider labor mandatory and a couple don't pay anything at all.

To be fair the CSA if it survived would be a rightist, authoritarian state with slavery right next to democracies. So its people going too far left through sheer anger at their situation isn't exactly impossible.
I don't think slavery would have survived very long. The cotton gin and been invented and the southern states had started industrialising more, eliminating the need.

@@idkwhatsgoingon4584 Could be, but I think if they were independent they would see the need to manufacture more goods domestically, so industrialization would be pretty swift, especially if they had strong industrialised rivals right next to them. Remember that their goal was secession/independence, not conquest, so the northern states would still pose a realistic threat. Also, I don't buy that the Northern states were any less racist for their time. Abolition became an issue long after the war began and it was a measure to weaken the south by driving slaves to revolt.
Play as Sokoto and form and survive as the Tukulor Empire. That is quite the challenge.
