    methadone maintenance therapy is the thing that saved my life..I was addicted to heroin as a child. my dad sold me and shot me up. I was addicted until 9 years ago. I was tired and dying. today I'm 9 years clean..and I am 9 years serene. thank God for this miracle MEDICINE not drug. I will be in methadone clinic for life and I am living now..

      I have a question. I started methadone yesterday, as a short term detox plan from 1 year IM heroin addiction. Before going into methadone, I already tried cold turkey 3 times, but failed at around 40 hours mark, scored, but I'm sure my tolerance dropped quite a bit. So my starting dose is 10ml/day methadone, it holds withdrawal at bay 80%, my aim is to quit totally, not for maintenance. How do you suggest I should go about this plan? What dosage reduction and timeline should I follow? Thank you.

      @@PinacoladaMatthew hi honey, first congrats..now, I believe In slow and steady..if you are still withdrawing you need to go up on your milligrams..they should have started you at between 10-30 mgs with a dose cap of 60-80..it's ok to go up in milligrams, that's what will ultimately get your life managble..my dose is 180 but I've been on methadone for 13 years with no plans of getting off..the biggest thing is if you at all feel uncomfortable, you need to slow down on your taper... Don't even start a taper for at least a year..By than you will know what dose works for you and if you want to come off at all.. please don't let anyone scare you into going off..it is like insulin to a diabetic. methadone is our insulin... just imagine waking up not having to hunt..not worrying about puking and shitting between your last hit.. congratulations honey and please just take your time and keep going up until you aren't having symptoms..that goes for cravings as well...

    I tried coming off like 1-3 grams of pretty potent heroin occasionally mixed with fentanyl and it took 8 8mg suboxone to get stable. It just doesn't work well with coming off high doses of heavy narcotics. However I just got on a methadone program and even though I started out at a very low dose now that it's being raised I can already tell that my craving are diminishing and withdrawal symptoms are significantly decreased. Hopefully I'll get stable soon and be able to hang in there until then. Pray for me someone please?!?

      Thank you very much for speaking to your experience, Beau. It sounds like you’ve found a program that is working for you and I’m happy to read that. As your experience shows, treatment of opioid addiction is client specific and often what may work for one individual may not be successful for another. It is important to find a health care provider that can assist in finding what treatment option is best. Thanks again for the comment and take care.

      I’ve been on heroin and suboxone for twelve years. Would always use heroin for a couple days / weeks then switch to sub and go back and forth. Could never stay clean just got on methadone two weeks ago. It took me to get to 60mg to feel fine. I feel amazing actually. No craving. I’m content. I feel good. That hunger inside me is gone. I feel satisfied in that sense. I always stayed away from methadone because it’s like for the end of the road junkies... it’s helping me though. I’d rather take this than struggle back and forth from dope to suboxone.

      @@PinacoladaMatthewhi ❤️💚 fellow past Heroin and crack used here .I don't have much advice but before I started my program I was almost 16 when I started injecting unfortunately I didn't get help till being 18 because i was so fearful to tell my parents but also I was scared that being underage I would be taken on to some type of cold turkey detox program and I knew I wanted methadone because I wouldn't be able to whistand without anything long time anyway I live in UK by the way . So here in UK the starting dose usually is 30 ml that is 1mg to 1ml of medicine so equals to 30mg of the medicine in the liquid I was like 4 good years almost 5 on heroin before that so I'm not sure if someone who used for less time would get less at start also I think it depends if you injected or not as I think us who inject need bigger dose so I started 30mg in late 2015 then after 2 weeks they review you and give a rise of another 10 ml if you still feel cravings and mainly to stop the pain like you didn't take anything do I got yo 40ml then 2 weeks later I got to 50 i stayed on it for probably 2 years and then went to 60mg I was on it for at least 6Months if not longer by the way I was still using at that point heroin and crack not every day but occasionally like once a week or 2 then I got to the biggest dose of 70ml which is 70mg !😵 and I was told this is the biggest dose they ever prescribed to anyone of my weight and height and they said they will not give me more because that's way to much and they wanted me to just stabilise and stop using so then after maybe around 6 months but definitely not longer I went down to 60ml and I think it was around that time 2 years ago when the pandemic came in and the stuff people were selling was absolutely disgusting and mixed with all bad stuff my dealer who I was buying from for 1year sold me 2 times in different weeks bad mixed stuff and the first time I realised it pretty quickly and out of 1ml of injection I only did 0,1 ml like 2 drops and I realised its bad and I felt like I will be possibility having some emergency situation if I will cary with that so I throw that away and then another week he had good stuff again unfortunately me hoping it's not sold anymore and buying another dose thinking it's all good now I injected about half of the 1ml syringe and that's when I realised this is same bad stuff I had before I started to get some type of asthma attack because I'm diagnosed with asthma I knew how it fells and had blue inhaler with me I also had the opioid reverse injection when you overdose close to me I forgot the name but its still injection that is used by paramedics to get you stable till you get to hospital and get proper care so I realised something is bad so I did inhaler and imedietely I phoned to 112 to get ambulance while talking to them I tried to stay calm and do whatever i can to stay conscious as I was getting really dizzy plus could breathe really bad and I took 1 dose out of 5 available to my arm my inhaler actually helped so much I started to pack my most important things just in case they need to take me in including the syringe with that heroin so they could straight away test the contents if needed to treat me and the life saving injection in case and all the stuff but anyway it took them 50 minutes to come to me and I was doing actually OK by the time the man came he gave me not cool speech about why I shouldn't do it ,but it wasn't actually him but my mum who was literally 6hours away from coming back home from holiday that made me realise that I could have died and she would be coming back home to this scene where I'm not there or if in laying on the couch or floor dead and she would be so heartbroken plus my dad and I would never get to say how much I love them .it was so strong experience for me mentally that that day was the last time I took heroin and crack that was 4 August 2020 and in about 3 months will be my 2 year anniversary 💙 not using drugs but being on methadone only I'm so proud of myself ! 😭💚😊 the longest I was without anything completely cold turkey was 5/7 days compared to your 40 hours that was before I was in the program and I had to go to Poland for my grandfather funeral I had some bupremorphine from my boyfriend at that time unfortunately we were injecting it and split into half his 8mg so because he couldn't get that much I needed I just went without whole supply and hoped I will be able to get some h in Poland I knew it will be hard to get anything there but knew kind of where to look unfortunately I still didn't manage to get it then I was so bad that I literally begged my dad to buy me plane ticket to get me back home without them knowing why all those weird thing are happening to me as I started to experience 40 degree temperature and I was do cold and my body was shaking horribly I almost was taken to hospital then

I was 85 kg and till the end of that year I endup 106 kg I'm still same weight and I'm trying to losse weight because it's so sad for me I would usually make only 300 steps a day for a year and the last 11 months I'm doing at least 1500 steps but definitely trying to get to at least 5k as a minimum I have good days where I even get to make 2/3/ even over 4 k steps a day but its not every day which sucks yes so I found out there is 6 types of arrhythmia that can make you faint so I'm quite positive it's one of them that I'm having and hopefully someone will finally help me I'm trying to save cash to go to private cardiologist but it's so hard as I only get 380 pounds a month to live on I can't even afford new cheapest possible t-shirt not speaking about 300 pounds that I need for 1 visit .anyway I wrote that comment so long because I wanted to adress you the commenter but also the person who uploaded the video I forgot to add since I stopped using h 2 yrs ago I went down from 60 to 55 and then 50 and now I'm on 48 soon will be on 45 because anything under 50 is hot stone for me and this is the area where I need to be careful as I feel more intense effects of going down so I asked to go down by 2/3 ml max at a time every month or few months definitely don't be scared to tell your fears to the doctor who prescribes it to you if you fell like you starting to feel more bad symptoms of going down say it and say you want to go down only tiny bit at a time that way your body gets time to adjust with smaller changes instead of suddenly cutting down half the amount you take now or even 5ml /5 mg especially that with my situation I actually started to get more dizzy now when coming down more so 2/3 ml seems like a good idea to not overload my body and brain and to not panic every day that I'm starting to feel like I need another dose of methadone even that it not time yet for my usual daily dose which I always drink a early /late night around 8pm/12 pm max because I get extremely sleepy after drinking it in about 1/2 hours to a point I slept on my desk whole night like almost every day because how powerful it is so I try to drink it about 30/60 minutes before bedtime unfortunately sometimes I still will get overpowered and endup sleeping that way it's like strong sleeping pills once they kick in I have no power over my counciousness 😫🤔😒💙❤️💚🙃☘️ anyway its 11 months now since you posted comment I seriously hope you are doing great by now I don't want to sound like your case wasn't as serious but 10mg/? Is so low dose you should be rocking it and be not as hard as my case is and was I hope you are perfectly fine by now and happy with your life if not then don't give up eventually we all get there it's just that for some people it takes much more time to adjust and heal the body and mind just be aware that the less time you are on methadone the better for your body as like my case shows and this video on yt I have possibly developed arrhythmia and Qt syndrome because of taking it especially for the last 6 years it's long time let's be honest ,.. much love Vicky ❤️

    I was on Suboxone for 2 years but I still had cravings. I ended getting into a cycle of relapse and going back to the Suboxone over and over. I went to treatment. Got about 4 months clean, I usually get around 6 months when I relapse this time I tried methadone instead. I wish to god I tried this 10 years sooner I truly believe I would have 10 years clean now if I would have. I haven’t relapsed in 2 years. I’m doing better than I ever have. I’m healthier than I’ve ever been. I wish we could get methadone from a private doctor! I think it’s silly to make someone go to a methadone clinic after they have had years clean if u can get Suboxone from a private doctor why not methadone?????? I don’t plan on ever getting off of the methadone. So what’s going to happen when I’m elderly and still on methadone am I going to be hobbling my geriatric ass into the clinic every week?? That’s ridiculous.

      @NorthernhealthCanada  Před 8 lety +1

      I am happy to hear this is working for you, Johnny. Methadone is an effective opioid agonist and many others have found success in this treatment option. However, for other individuals, Suboxone has also been effective as it does not have the same effect on the respiratory system which lowers the risk of overdose and has fewer side effects like sedation. Treatment of opioid addiction is client specific and often what may work for one individual may not be successful for another, therefore it is important to find a health care provider that can assist in finding what treatment option is best. We appreciate your comment and thank you for speaking to your experience!

      Go down 1 mil per month until you get to 5 mils. At this point reduce by half a mil until you get to a mil or 2 after that ditch it. Drink plenty of water, eat good nutritious meals. Also excercise. It helps to get a prescription of dalmane or diazepam maybe a months worth just to aid sleep and muscle spasms. 👍
