She is not studying in a program to become an engineer,but rather an engineering technician. While there is nothing wrong with that, there is a notable difference. Graduates of this program will be employed to repair hospital equipment, under the supervision of a certified engineer. I am surprised that the miss universe organization is not fact checking bios. I would also like to add that there already exists robotic integration into the Canadian curriculum, including after school robotic programs (discussed in her bio). In addition, there process to provide robotic prosthetics is intensively detailed and very expensive.

@@ngokien9779 You missed the point. She misrepresented herself completely by using the terms biomedical engineering and degree. Those are not terms for her to use. She lied about what she's doing. If she can lie about that, don't you wonder what else she can lie about?

My original comment: What she said about discrimination in the field of engineering is so true. When I first entered college, I majored in engineering. The first thing the professor did was put us in a group for a project. I was the only woman in my class. Thus, the only woman in my group. I had never felt so rejected in my life. My thoughts, opinions, and ideas were completely ignored. I ended up changing majors but half-heartedly regret giving up so easily on a major I'm pretty sure I would have loved. I wish I had been strong enough to stick it out and show those boys that women can do what they do too. So, bravo to Miss Canada for being brave enough to help make it easier for other women to go into engineering. I'm so proud of the newer generation!
This is sad to hear. Sorry this happened to you but you will have plenty more time to show them you can do more! However, this is not a role model who stands up for that when she doesn't actually study engineering (St. Clair College - Technical program on equipment and devices).

@@jivitsabay840 haha that's the confusing part. If that's the case, I'll apply to be Miss Universe as a rocket scientist! You can easily find it too (St. Clair College biomedical diploma). It isn't even allowed to be called a Degree
@@justinesagarino5669 Yeah. At least she's attending school, but I felt really deceived. I'm not trying to be snobby about levels of education or anything, but a degree shows that the graduate has a more solid foundation of skills and knowledge, whereas a certificate/diploma shows that the graduate has studied a specific subject without taking general education courses (less rounded education). This is not to say a certificate/diploma holder is less intelligent or anything, but it's a lot more time-consuming and challenging to earn a degree than it is to earn a certificate/diploma. I felt mislead by Miss Canada into thinking that she is working towards becoming a biomedical engineer. Rather, she's working towards becoming a biomedical engineering technician. They're not the same thing. Wouldn't engineers feel offended by her claim?
@@jivitsabay840 That is not necessarily true. I have both a degree (Health Sciences - Honors Specialization in Health Sciences) and a diploma. Most University degrees in Canada are researched based and while I was exposed to many different health related fields, I found myself simply reading about them and writing papers. It was not until I went to College where I learned skills I would be using in my current job. Sure, a degree looks great on paper, but please don't discredit diploma programs.

@@josefg5212 Google St. Clair College for Ontario, Canada. Read the description for biomedical engineering technician. They don't have a degree for that particular field.
@@jivitsabay840 www.stclaircollege.ca/programs/postsec/biomedical/ if you enter to this program you do 2 or 3 more years and get and engineering diploma in other University, and she says she study BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY and yes that is the name of the program.
she does not say "technology". In this video she says "Biomedical Engineering" and "Degree" with a high GPA, much easier to achieve than in true engineering studies. A diploma in Canada is not a degree. She also says "future engineer" not "future technician". She is making it sound more than it is @@josefg5212

i just learned that after graduating she will be earning her diploma as a bio medical technician and not a degree in bio medical engineering. there certainly is a big difference. she will not be an engineer but a technician . did she intentionally mis represented her education to sound more proficient? or perhaps being a technician is not so honorable for her. i guess, lying is more disgraceful.

Sooooo does this mean Miss Canada pretty much lied about studying to become a biomedical engineer? She's saying she's a biomedical engineer but she's not technically enrolled in engineering but rather technology and they're not the same thing. Pretty deceiving of her to misrepresent herself as a biomedical engineer when she's studying to become a biomedical technician...isn't that like saying you're a lawyer but you're currently a legal assistant? Nothing wrong with that at all and no one is discrediting her accomplishments but man, kind of shady to go on live tv and embellish like that.

FYI lying about her education. not an engineer, or future engineer. She is studying to become an "engineering technician" and fails to talk about that. making it seem like she's an engineer
