    Wow what a beast! I have absolutely no need for such a thing whatsoever, but hot damn, wouldn't I love to have it anyway! :D

    When you realize, that nearly 40-year lens (i was not exist and MS Windows had 1 year :-D) can use with mirrorless body, which was release "yesterday" AND images are still pretty sharp and nice ... 😮👍

      Good point! It was back in the time when photography required lots of skills from the photographer not from the camera 😉

    The old film cameras had focus screens with split image and focus prisms. Very helpful for manual focus.

    This lens has a primary hood and the removal secondary. The primary comes out by thread. You have to unscrew it out. It extends the left of the lens even more.

    • @hajakelyphoto
      @hajakelyphoto  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Are you sure? I mean the 600mm f4 has 2 lens hood but the 800mm only has one.

    • @ele4853
      @ele4853 Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@hajakelyphoto Yes the "old" 600mm has two "external" hoods. Meaning you can remove them and attach it to the lens. This 800mm f/5.6 (I have one) has two hoods. One detachable which I am calling external, and one that is built in the lens. This one you cannot detach from the lens. Only unscrew and it moves out a little bit. Not much but moves out. Maybe your lens has this hood so tight that it's been hard to "unscrew". When I go home I will check the direction of the thread to unscrew the hood so you don't put too much force to the wrong direction and the hood doesn't come out.

    Well... that's all pretty outrageous. Given where i live and what i like to shoot... you don't have a spare one you'd like to sell??? Lot's of useful observations - many thanks from a cabin in a swamp in a rain-forest in New Zealand.

      @@hajakelyphoto I've spent a lot of time in Germany - it has its up-sides too (as NZ has its down-sides, although some of us are extremely lucky). Anyway... fabulous photographic opportunities here, and especially around where i live - i'm not biased at all. Going to have to watch your video again now, as i need another laugh, and when you unveiled that absurdity in your video, i just lost it. Cheers and all the best.

  • @helisoma
    @helisoma Před 4 měsíci +1

    now you just need the 1.4x or 2x converters i have both and the 2x quality is really a step down but the 1.4x is still pretty good

    • @hajakelyphoto
      @hajakelyphoto  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I have both as well. The 2x tc is not bad on the 600mm f4.. I even stacked the 1.4 and 2x plus other to get 16 000mm in this video:

    Front element of 600/f4 is larger than 800/5.6

    • @hajakelyphoto
      @hajakelyphoto  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Yes because a 600mm f4 plus 1.4 tc is actually 840mm f5.6. 😉

    • @helisoma
      @helisoma Před 4 měsíci

      the 600mm f4 is actually in the front just like the famed and very rare 300mm f2 and the 800mm f5.6 is identical in the front (i mean externally) as the 400mm f2.8 (which i have as well)

    • @nimuil
      @nimuil Před 4 měsíci +2

      @@helisoma 300/2=150mm>800/5.6=400/2.8=143mm
      simply 600/4 is 300/2 with TC2x, 800/5.6 is 400/2.8 with TC2x.
      The bigger the d (=focal length divided by aperture ), the better the optical in theory.

    I’m curious if you’ve thought to try the Megadap Leica adapter + Nikon/Leica adapter? If I’d it’d work on such a long lens. From what I’ve seen online this adapter combo makes auto focus possible on other Nikon Ais lenses.

    • @hajakelyphoto
      @hajakelyphoto  Před rokem +1

      Interesting idea 💡. Technically, it should work, but you need to prefocus the subject roughly first.

    • @helisoma
      @helisoma Před 4 měsíci

      there's a Nikon AF unit for these lenses and i used it on the 300mm f2.8 AI-S and it's works pretty good but i still prefer manual focus
