My New Gameboy Game - Unfinished Gameplay - Damuel, A New Gameboy Metroidvania Game Coming Soon!

  • Some notes to mention: hit detection was disabled for this video so that I could get through the levels without dying. There's the idea shown though, the camera will shake with momentary invincibility. This is unfinished. When finished it will be quite a robust Metroidvania game for the Gameboy and I will make the ROM free for everyone. I may even upload and share all of my assets basically making everything open source. This has been a project of love began in mid March 2024 and is expected to be done in a couple or a few months, I can't really say just yet.
    Sorry for the slight audio skipping here but I found it acceptable. I'll adjust my screen recorder settings to make it better the next time.
    What is shown here is a small portion of all that's been done, I'll show more the next time around but I felt this gave a good idea of... the idea of everything. I have spent whole days trying to figure out one problem or another such as programing in health meters and buying things at a shop, or more like displaying the money amount that the player has. Sounds trivial but I am learning. This is my first video game after all. And I will probably stick with making Gameboy and Gameboy color games, sticking to what I know. After I get done figuring out just a few more things it will all be smooth sailing. The sprites, maps (levels), music, are all done. I am in the programing phase of things.
    Most importantly, helping me get the word out about this new Gameboy Metroidvania (again, called Damuel) will be helpful and appreciated!

    Are you going to add a HUD for gameplay?

      Yes, I just disabled the health variable decrement here to get through these areas w/o dying. Normally a heart with an exclamation mark appears when the player is low on health.
