    I feel sad for this generation that all of this BEAUTIFUL HISTORY is lost to REALITY TV and FOOLISHNESS. I long for the day when we can return to this.

      There's still a world of tap out there that has so many amazing people doing amazing things. The news just doesn't cover it because it isn't mundane enough. Not sure what you're on about.

      I think what they mean is stuff like this while you are correct it’s still out there, this generation just doesn’t care enough about it. At the same time there’s a catch 22 while they don’t care about, it is there generation that allows our generation to all look at the same stuff together and enjoy it in there creation of social media cool huh?

    I used to have lots of love and respect for the man that interviewed Sammy Davis Jr. & Gregory Hines but the moment he got on to them for hugging each other and said that he didn't have time for that on national TV..... I've got "nothing" for him anymore. That was totally unnecessary humiliation to bring to such historical giants of the rare art of tap dancing now.
    I do miss both of these late great tap dancing artist, who were both talented in other areas too such as singing and acting too. Rest in Heaven and dance on forever before The King of kings, Elders Davis Jr. & Hines, too.

      @Miss_Myth Před 2 lety +3

      I genuinely didn't take it that way. I'll admit it surprised me at first, but as I kept watching, it seemed to match the feel of the whole interview, from bith directions. Meaning I took it as him matching the joking tone that Gregory and Sammy often use - if there were another tapper with them in LA, say Sandman, and Gregory started hugging on him, I could see Sammy coming in and saying "Alright, knock it off" or whatever, and vice versa. They seemed to have a very warm conversation back and forth, I didn't notice any irritation or anything from the tappers.

      @@Miss_Myth Hmm... 🤔 After carefully watching the video again with your perspective in consideration I can see what you mean. 😉 And you're right. The kings didn't seem too bothered by the comment either. 🤴🏽🤴🏽💕💯
      Thank you 😊 🙏🏽 so much for your valuable time & kindness in sharing your thoughts on this platform. I don't mind admitting that I make/have made mistakes and misjudged a situation. I appreciate how you were mature enough to share your thoughts with me without being disrespectful or attacking me I some way. Well done. I'm a mother of 4 adults, grandmother of 2, and a 3rd grandchild on the way. I enjoy meeting others through the same interests and show each other kindness & respect. You've quite honestly made my day. May peace, love, & blessings always be yours. 🤗🌺

    If the dates are right, in 1988 Sammy wasn't that bad off. He really got sick in mid 1989 and he still whipped Gregory's but on his own Tribute show right before he died in 1990. He was a genius. The world was blessed to have those true Legends.

    You are entitled to your opinion but Steve Condos is a tap legend. He even appears in the 1988 film "Tap with Gregory Hines. He died in 1990 at the age of 71 after giving a solo tap performance in France. He was sharing the stage with the Nicholas Brothers and Savion Glover.
    I wish I could tap 1/10th as well as Steve.

  • @yvettemcphee5116
    @yvettemcphee5116 Před 4 lety +8

    Is Ted Koppel still alive? If he is he must look back at this brilliant footage of one of America's most beloved and greatest icons as he demonstrates rhythm, style, talent and beauty which The Idiot reporter Ted Koppel has never demonstrated, and ask himself: Why would I be so boringly inappropriate. He was so nauseatingly disrespectful towards the two guests. Sammy Davis and Gregory Hines love tap dancing and they both celebrate each other's talent so much they can't help but to embrace and laugh and demonstrate the love they feel for one another and for the love of the tap dancing craft!! But the idiot Ted Koppel more than once insisted on squelching that joy on nationaltelevision. Why? I think Ted Koppel was jealous of their freedom, talent, and happiness. And I also think he was trying to convey some kind of evil White racial reporter control over two powerfully successful African American men. Why couldn't he just be normal and show everyone in America how much he truly admired Sammy and Gregory without the disrespectful rubs. Grow up Koppel!! I will always love, respect, and admire my favorite entertainer of all time. Mr. Sammy Davis Jr.!!!!!!! He deserves all respect and accolades. Ted Koppel deserves none. Yvette M.

      You didn't personally know Sammy Davis so you don't have the right to comment on his character. I bet he was a better person than you. He did something with his life and left the world a better place for gracing us with his talent and at the same time fulfilling his purpose on Earth. You on the other hand are only someone who needs to senselessly label others to feel better about your hopeless life. Get out of here and stop draining all the goodness out of beautiful stories like the brilliant life of the Master entertainer, Sammy Davis Jr. His life and legacy is something that a jealous want to be like you will never achieve. Get lost! YM
