- Primal Scream - Come Together (Screamadelica Live)
Primal Scream's seminal album "Screamadelica" defined a generation. It's mix of rock, dance, dub, gospel and more caught the zeitgeist of the early nineties to perfection and it went on to win the inaugural Mercury Music Prize in 1992 and consistently be named as "Best Album Of The Nineties" and appear in numerous "All Time Best Albums" lists. This show, filmed on November 26th 2010 at London's Olympia, was the first time that Primal Scream had performed the whole album live and it became one of the "must see" gigs of the year. The band was accompanied by a brass section and a gospel choir with back projections specially created for the event. The result was a stunning musical and visual triumph and proved, if it needed to be, that Screamadelica is one of the finest albums ever made and that Primal Scream are one of the truly great live bands.

There are 3 ways to tell when a song is great
1. It gives you chills
2. Brings a tear to your eye
3. Makes you wanna dance
This song does all three
Nailed it.
James Broyles agree on all 3. Heard Weatherall first play this in Dingwalls at Gosh. Still makes me giddy now
Amén bro
You misspelt 'Wanna'.
Otherwise, yes.
@@hygtfrdevgdsehy9166 There, there. **Pat, pat**.
You'll live.
I took on an Expat job in 1992 in Ireland. This was one of the songs that helped me to settle and forget my "Heimweh". I still live in Ireland, happily married to an Irish woman with three adult children. Still love this song.
hard to believe this happened on the same planet we live on now...better times better times
Amazing this we need it on
One of The Masterpieces from Screamadelica! RIP Denise Jonhson, Martin Duffy and Robert 'Throb' Young
Respect to the late and great Andy weatherall, without him screamadelica wouldn't have been 🙏
That’s why nothing else they did sounded like it. RIP
One of the greatest live performances of all time, it's musical perfection. The way the song builds up is simply magical, the gospel choir, the brass section every single musician on that stage comes together truly as one, it's absolute genius.
Never forget 1st time i heard Come Together. A great away day watchin United then back to town, dropped a cheeky one later on. Groovin all night till the early hours, smiling from ear to ear as this masterpiece finished the perfect weekend. Then strolling out into the misty moody Manchester sunrise swaggering back to Ancoats with this still ringing in your ears. Bliss. Thank-you for the memories.....................
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing your incredible memory with the world.
This song is always working, no matter how old it is. People will sing it along and dance to it. A masterpiece from a time when rave music didnt mean techno. Oh and I love Bobby Gillespie ;)
1992 Mushroom trip. After carrying a brick I named Vicky [the bricky] home for 2 miles for absolutely no reason I stuck this on, then put it on repeat. Happy days. [Obviously the album version as psilocybin can not induce time travel]
@@MrAlanlaing It just feels like time travel. You lose, you gain. Makes no difference so long as you keep taking the shrooms. But sooner or later you've got to get out because it's crashing. Then all at once those frozen hours melt out through the nervous system and seep out the pores.
😂😂😂😂 we were on strawberries on top of Arthur’s seat thinking a plane was going to land 😂😂 good times
Vicky the bricky!! Brilliant 😂😂
@@maureenmccraw5760 we all think the same thoughts when someone suggests it...on the "strawbs"
Primal scream at V was probably one of the best sets I've ever seen live, they were truly brilliant
I seen the scream at v, was that 2004?
Southampton November 2019 (when life was pretty normal!) was so excited to see them that I turned up a day early!
Absolutely amazing evening that I will never forget and wish to experience again. Mr Gillespie, you are a friggin legend and I will be your slave forever!
One of the best groups I have ever seen ✌🏼️✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼
you sound like mi mother. . rolling stones ect ect are you mi mummy please be my mum!
Louis Dawson 😂😂😂✌🏼️
Rachel lewis without a doubt. Magical.
32 years of gigging (and counting...) this was the best, giving me goosebumps watching it back.
Just floating around on here and saw this. Not the first time I've watched this clip and I was at Olympia when they did the (25yr?) Screamadelica tour when they did it in this form. I don't normally write anything on youtube but felt moved to say I'm sitting here shaking with the majesty of this utter masterpiece.
This has just got everything I love back then and now from rave to the blues brothers
I love this record and this live version just enhances that. Brilliant. Those who don't know what the 90s was about should listen to this.
.....an IMPROBABLE (although NOT entirely UNforeseen) revitalization of the Sixties / Seventies cusp - that stretch of time where I came of age so, this just vibed HUGELY for me 2 decades later.....
Welcome to the Church of Primal Scream. I'm a believer!!
Perfect play yors or do a mix of this rock my boat 💯☮️✍️
Musical definition of the word euphoric
When you turn an average rock song to a masterpiece remix and then you witness its perfect live rebirth by a massive orchestra...you can RIP. Thanks Andrew Weatherall
have a listen to the original demo of the song...it was ace even then.
@@sodiumlights Was that I’m losing more than I’ll ever have?
@@nervesinapattern7261 no, you are thinking of Losing more=Loaded. The (original version) of Come Together was only ever released on the Rock the Dock Liverpool dockers support compilation, but hopefully it will be on the forthcoming Demoadelica. Its fcking brilliant.
@@sodiumlights ah cheers!
The Farley version was still great, even if “average” in comparison to Weatherall’s version.
Best music ever, no music nowadays (2021)will come near
Fucking amazing.
Also by the look of the audience it was a bumper night for London's babysitters.
This what we should of done back in the day thinking about the green hill lads who are we together always remember that ☮️💯💚

Awesome, awesome, awesome.
It's a song that will b better
Very impressive!
I was watching TV when I saw this show on a music channel.
And I consider myself a very lucky men for this.
Bravo, my man.
U do this for the boys yea
Good sound
I remember there was controversy about who came up with “let you love light shine on me” first, Primal Scream or The Black Crowe’s... then I heard Angel Eyes by Roxy Music :)
They did this version in Glasgow last week. No-one who was there will forget it.
i was there and im still in a daze...fuckin awsome..took me back to my halcyon days lol
What if they get Alzheimers or fall into a coma?
What’s this version called?
I cry that I missed it...
Beautiful ❤🎸🎤🐝

What a night
2020 listening to this dope music
Rip to Denise that died today
Tears my heart
A timeless classic album my god, remember mixes of this and loaded in the clubs in Dublin in the 90ees especially one club sides😜 There's fuck all I can say except pure class and the early to mid 90ees were pure class aswell👍🇮🇪
Nice one! Did you go to any primal gigs in Ireland ?
@@nervesinapattern7261 No I was never lucky enough 2 get 2 see them live, From what I've seen on t.v like the time they played just that album at Glastonbury they looked and sounded class.. But what an album it's like them oldskool classic albums from that era like "Thrills pills and belly aches" Happy Mondays and one album that I think never got any recognition Steel MCs think the album was called "Connected"?? I'll look that up and txt you back if I have the name wrong??
@@eoinmaguire6691 I get you, don’t think any band could recreate screamadelica. Seems like music released now is only in the charts a week and then it’s something new, miss the stone roses and early 90s primal, will never be a better time in music.
@@nervesinapattern7261 Yeah I was right it is called Connected, I just thought that was a very gud album from that era, I'm sure you would know few of the songs?? If not check it out.. I'll leave on this I did get 2 see Grove Armada think it was around 1994/5 in a club here in Dublin jaysus they were brilliant oh uve got me thinking bout back in the day, We no it was mainly clubbing and raves in the very early days but one concert I was brought 2 was Jay k the rat in the hat as we used 2 call him😂😂 But he put on sum concert everyone up dancing that's still a night that gets brought up when me and the lads have a get 2gether, He was only after releasing Virtual insanity.. Ohh they don't have them like we had the underground clubs open till the wee hrs those mornings when you come out of the club and see who Ur after been hooking up with that night😳 She looked nothing like what you thought during the night😂😂
@@eoinmaguire6691 😂 😂
the backing singer at 5:30 is one of my music teachers lol
Unbelievably powerful
Scream are unique. They made loads of rubbish LPs then came out with a masterpiece! Never to be repeated sadly, but no shame in that. I saw them, quite unbelievably brilliant in the Screamadelica phase.
With Mani they were just so much more balanced, and his live edge is just pure power...the most mesmerising band i have ever seen live and i thank my life for Primal Scream
I love Mani, he always looks like he's trippin balls and about to have a heart attack and he never misses a note. Top bass player
@@sofakingwhat4798 So true. 😎 Always looks like he's pure struggling, but still manages to dig out the groove (perfectly) for hours. 😊
@Mikk Lüftumie yawn
R.I.P Denise Johnson xx
Perhaps better to post that on a video of a performance actually involving Denise...
@@keithmoon8838 Perhaps I could. I chose this song because I like the sentiment. I might like it at my funeral, God forbid my family choose something actually involving me. My son was in a band, I chose to use a Mozart Requiem at his funeral, maybe I should have picked something he played?
Or perhaps I should have just sent her family a sympathy card, or posted in a newspaper, or scratched R.I.P Denise in a bus shelter.
But... I didn't.
Have a lovely day. (Sorry Denise, don't wish to disturb your resting with an argument)
@@CaitStringer Did you mistake your son for someone who looked a bit like him?
@@keithmoon8838 No, he was definitely dead, and so was Mozart.
@@CaitStringer So is Denise, yet you're apologising to her, even though you mistook another black woman for her 😄🤣 Dreadful...
It was unbelievably. Used to have chance seeing Primal Scream at June 2019, Wild Mint festival nearby Aleksin, Russia.
how did it happen? omg wtf only if I woild know that, i live in saint-petersburg 😢😮
You once had a chance to see them?
It was unbelievably - unbelievably what?
Was the chance to go to the festival, unbelievable? Or was the gig unbelievable? - Did you see them, or was it a missed opportunity?
The stars were aligned in favor of Primal Scream when Screamadelica was born.
Rest in power, Andrew Weatherall

Hell I dont remember much of the early ninetys but this I remember. What is it with us Brits we hate anything new or different. Shit man smoke
Muy grandismo
wish Denise had of been there. Just listen to her signing on bootleg tapes from `91 and you'll hear why.
I'd love to have the lyrics to this song - this particular version is a little different than other live "Come Together's" I've heard.
If you don't love this song/version...you are dead
this was fucking awesome!
2 songs defines the baggie era for me.
Weekender - Flowered Up. Let’s face it, the majority of people did what that whole video was during that time.
And this. The unity shown by young people during this era was amazing. It’ll be a long time before we’re so unified as we were then.
