The pink outfit: I see her wearing it in the first season, when she is shy and soft and lack confidence. The light academia : Second season, when she gain some confidence and show more of her fashion sense and skills. The paris chic : Her final outfit, after major character development. She is now confident, still sweet, and is ready to show us why she is the best💖
I like this too, also, it lines up with her age too. As the series progresses she gets older and with the last outfit in particular, it just feels a little too grown up for someone 13/14 to me, but someone closer to 15/16 not so much. Hopefully this makes sense!
Honestly i was so suprised when we didn't even get like a classic dress up montage where Marinette just mixes and matches outfits at home to show her fashion designer side
Pretty sure that would be super complicated to animate in 3d though. And even if it was just, a montage of different outfits without animations, they'd have to model every piece of clothing.
@@MsLilly200 but if you have a fashion designer character, its weird you wouldn't take that into account first- that different outfits for them would add to their character building
@@brunetteartist24 True, I just figured the cost would would be one of the reasons they didn't do anything like that. It is dumb that Marinette just had the 1 regular outfit.
Absolutely loved the outfits, the show really fails to show Marinette's fashion ability and the most they ever do is make her make a hat for Adrien. I mean like Marinette has always looked like a divorced say at home mom to me not a teenager good with fashion.
To me as well! The middle one just gives off the vibe of what someone would use to walk on the balcony of a beach house and stare into the sea. Just imagine the breeze hitting her hair and making it fly as well!
Yeah, but being 3d limits us in a way that 2d doesn't. I mean I for one thought that the flower print looks good in 2d, but in 3d it's really flat and I think it would have worked better if they went with knit flowers in 3d? But considering the switch was done just because they couldn't get Ladybug's spots to work... yeah, ironically they just went with the lazier solution.
It's interesting because it shows a lot of the limitations of 3D models. She has tight buns, simple t-shirts and jackets, and trousers mostly so nothing hangs loose or could overlap, like a skirt or fluffy jacket. I imagine Marinette was one of the first characters to be modelled so it's even more prominent
Yeah, I kinda wish they kept the show in 2D like how they originally planned it, a bit of a shame that they decided to go with 3D, I feel like though, yes, you can make great stuff with 3D, it just didn’t really, idk, fit?
They really only switched to 3D because the animation for Ladybug’s polka dots on her costume was hard to do, the spots kept moving around, it made people morion sick, etc.
@@sunkissed_apollo I mean, they could have easily fixed that just by changing the costume a bit. Instead of a big red mess with random black dots they could have gone with something more structured. Like, there's a ton of fanart of people redesigning the ladybug suit that looks way easier to 2d animate and also look better aesthetically. Iirc even the creator posted some alternate costume concept arts once that looked really good.
I think the second one might be the best, because it feels like something she would wear. She'd want to look pretty, but not show off too much, and I think the second outfit really shows that.
OMG YESSS FINALLY! One of my biggest problems with the show is the fact that characters like Marinette, Gabriel and Nathaniel are supposed to be people who draw/design outfits for a living yet their civilian outfits and hero/villain costumes have a severe lack of style (ok except Evillustrator and some of Ladybug's fusion with other Miraculouses, those were good). The ironic thing is that I heard that Thomas claimed that this show had "the best designs in the industry". Your designs are so good, keep up the good work!
Lol "best designs in the industry" Thomas just stop, Totally Spies had better, more varied outfits for the main cast than MLB, and that show is pretty dated, all things considered 😂
I mean, I'd understand Nathaniel not having much of a strong fashion sense if he's not economically well-off, but he's going to the same school as Chloe, so that can't be a possibility.
Yeah I agree with you on that, Marinette’s outfit is really boring every time we see her, Calimara’s designs are so much better they make the characters look a lot better heck maybe she should be an outfit designer for Miraculous Ladybug
“Best designs-” Tell that to Adventure Time- literally TWO characters, Marceline and Princess Bubblegum, had wayyy more fashionable choices and designs for them than all of the characters in MLB. The animators even did their hair in a unique, personality wise, way! I guess they couldn’t try with those 3D models, their clothes are practically glued onto their body. I get how it would be hard, cartoon/anime would’ve been a lot better! So much for saying that ladybug’s spots were “too hard to animate”.
I absolutely love how cute and trendy you made Marinette’s outfit, considering how she loves fashion design, I think this fits soooo much better than her plain old outfit. My favourite is the light academia outfit, because OMG I LOVE THE BERET. The colours you chose are also really aesthetic and not too harsh, but also shows that she’s soft but fashionable.
Totally random but as a fellow artist, I'm in *love* with the fact that all three designs have baggy sleeves. I used to draw in tight jackets like Show Mari's all the time as a kid, and those things were so damn constrictive when it came to arm movement (in the elbows or the shoulders). And you don't really realize how important that is until you've spent 10mins on a piece and need to stop for circulation. 😅 So just seeing how comfy and freeing these designs are sends me over the moon lmao.
I like the soft girl outifts so much. It fits Marinette and how she is in the show, how shy she is. The Paris chic outfit seems like a character development stage outfit like when she becomes more confident in herself and she can wear her designs in public. The first outift seems like outfit she would wear once in a while in the show. They all look good.
Marinette is a cute character and honestly I wish they did more with her design especially considering she’s an aspiring fashion designer, like why is she wearing that?
Idk if anyones said this before, but I feel like since she’s an aspiring fashion designer, she could maybe get an internship at Adriens dads Company! That could help them become closer, do more with the fact that she loves fashion, and maybe while she’s working, she has to run to the bathroom or somewhere closed off to transform and save the day!
I thought I was the only one who was self conscious about my shading. It works with my style as it's more simplistic but it feels too little. Especially as I'm also a fan of super detailed art with God-tier shading
some advice you can totally ignore if you want: I think the problem that you’re having with trying to make your art soft is that a lot of your lineart style is very sharp (something esp visible in the face and chin). Usually when I want to make something look softer I stick to thick lineart, chunkier round shapes, and warmer colors. I think just slighting rounding your lineart could help you a lot!!
Agreed,I have a more “cartoony” style and it’s much easier to softcore and cottagecore stuff While I do some lore it’s hard to make my characters look sad or even angry sometimes
7:32 It would be nice if throughout history she would show herself more as she gains confidence and there would come a time where she would be able to dress the way she likes. Plus, it's unfair that Ladybug has such an amazing redesign and Marinete remains the same 😗
I’ve seen a lot of fan redesigns on TikTok where they are “fixing” her, but they always either make her outfits generic and in a clothes which would go out of style quickly or put her in very stereotypical Chinese clothes by western standards and it always comes off as…… racist?? (Probably a better word for it but it’s all I could think of). Edit: I was thinking of cultural appropriation. I like that you actually put some thought and gave her a variety of styles and siluettes in different colors that still fit her and her personality. People seem to always put her in the same thing (the current oversize t-shirt and pants is what comes to mind). These are all so different but still work on her perfectly and I think that’s a feat in it if itself. Edit: I’d also like to add that these are styles that seem classic but are timeless in the long run, you could totally see someone wearing these years down the line.
cultural appropriation is probably the word you're looking for since people don't always have harsh intentions when they use sterotypical fashion choices ig.
I think the word you're looking for is "stereotypical". Racist seems a little too harsh for people who probably didn't really mean to fall into tropes in regards to outfit designs. Casually throwing the word around dilutes the meaning and makes actual claims less serious as a result.
@@JAND4LISMS someone actually came up with a different term, cultural appropriation seems better in terms of describing what exactly it is that they were doing. Although I believe people can still exhibit some sort of ‘racist’ behaviors by way of internalized racism where they don’t see how what they are doing can misrepresent a culture by way of ignorance instead of researching the topic and understanding it. But yes, stereotypical seems like a good term, just not the one I was thinking of.
I believe the proper term would be stereotypical. How can a half-Chinese girl appropriate her own culture? As a half-Chinese myself, I think that people should be able to draw clothing from other cultures, but just need to do their research beforehand to make sure it's accurate. I believe the main problem is that Chinese people don't wear Chinese clothing like that casually, especially younger people. I feel like cheongsams and the like would be better reserved for special events like Chinese New Year, which makes more sense and showcases Marinette's Chinese side more accurately. (Forgive me if I made any wrong assumptions about Marinette bc I only know this show from my friend's longwinded rants)
I'd like to think that overtime Marinette would start to gain more confidence and wear clothes like those you've just designed. It could be that the longer the shows goes the more confidence and/or comfortability comes to her or that even Adrian, a fashion model himself, can help give her more of a boost and even deepen their relationship a bit. It would probably never be super bold but it would still be something she designed and something that she doesn't usually wear and she could sometime take pride at that fact.
Darker color scheme helps her stand out from the background. Artist to artist, if you want to try something fun to make your art soft, do linear and color as normal but add another layer atop it and shade and add color over the lineart.
I really like your idea of Marinette making those outfits but not having the confidence to pull it of in public. Maybe has the show goes on she could wear more and more of her creations, for special occasions at first and then in her everyday life.
THESE ARE AMAZING, I can totally see Marie wearing the second outfit! I feel like Marie could change her outfit as well to show her development. Outfit 2 looks perfect for season 1, stylish yet still shy and reserved. And as she becomes more confident in her civilian life, so does her outfits reflect that! Would be such a cool idea
I can see her wearing the soft girl outfit around the house and possibly even when she's helping out in her parents' bakery; it's cozy and comfortable-looking. The light academia outfit would be when she has a little more confidence in herself or if she has to look nice for something like an event or maybe even picture day at school. Paris chic would only see the light of day when she was older and more confident or if there's an akuma attack while she's modeling in her room and has no time to change, before going out as Ladybug. Or if the girl squad drags her out of her room. I like the idea that, if she did go out in the Paris chic outfit, her level of confidence can be determined by how she wears the sweater; falling off her shoulders when she's at her most confident and pulling it back up when she's feeling shy and self-conscious.
I absolutely love the designs, and each designs shows Marinette's passion for fashion designs and each outfit that you drew absolutely presents Marinette's different personalities This would be cool if one of the three outfits is used for different occasions Like the first design can be her usual wear for going to school The second design can be her normal outfit at home, making different outfit designs ( Because for my opinion, the second design looked like one of the designers usual wear, plus as that one kid who loves to draw at school, I always have a jacket on lmao) And the third design can be her outfit when hanging out with her friends Overall, I love each design! Especially on how you color them, I hope we get to see more redraws or speedpaints like this Callimara !
Absolutely LOVED this designs, I cannot possibly pick one?? I've never watched Miraculous but I can't help but think she would have a secret Instagram where she posts her outfits anonymously, with her head cut off in the mirror or something. It would be really cute if she was almost a fashion influencer, popular with her classmates for fashion inspiration, idk where I'm going with this but you've really inspired me to try my hand at doing more "trendy" looks for my own ocs too!
I think that Marinette would wear the 1. as casual, 2. at home while designing for comfort and 3. when she would feel confident about something like when she designed that black hat in ep. Mr. Pigeon.
This is so cute, well done! It's a shame that Mari is supposed to love fashion, but we see very little about it in the show (except the few episodes, like when she made the hat for some competition or when Chloe's mum wanted to hire her or something). It would be refreshing to have a main character showing us how much she loves her hobby (instead of almost yandereing over some boy), like, for example, trying to apply for more fashion competitions, struggling with creating new outfits, also it could be nice connection to her ladybug power of creation and why is she really a good candidate for LB, because she has a creativity, imationagiont and all that, and show kids how creativity does amazing things... but no, we get this stalker (she seems to me like she feels almost entitled to Adrien, lets look at her jealousy problem in that one Kagami episode) and also a shallow character who never gets any punishment for her actions and never learns anything from them. And girl, when you said you love the color pink, same. Especially the pink of cherry blossoms, like the soft light pink is the best (at least to me). Well, loved it! I personally love the first one of light academia, and think it suits your version of Mari the best. You are really great inspiration for me! Months back when you were doing the yandere sim revamping series, it really sparked back up my love for character design and storytelling. Keep being awesome, girl!
hey, if you wanna make your art look more soft, id recommend using a dark brown instead of black for your lineart. the black can draw the brightness down, so using a dark brown can mitigate it.
These all look so cute!! Honestly wish Marinette had more style options in the show considering she’s this brilliant designer who's super into fashion. Cmon astruc, you worked on totally spies for pete's sake!
The pink sweater one is my favorite and it feels the most like something Marinette might actually feel comfortable wearing out. Maybe in season two if she builds a bit more confidence? Bonus it's cannon that Marinette used to wear her hair like that according to an old class photo.
For me the first one is my favorite although I really like the pink color of the second one, but the pink is still present in the color of the bag and shoes, and this beige tone is interesting and versatile for any accessory, which I think Marinete would value as a designer, and the third one looks like something more for an event or party, in Miraculous the characters always wear the same clothes even at events so this look would work well for any of these episodes.
i think it’d be cool for marinette’s civilian clothes to evolve as she develops!! sure she can start out in the boring outfit but when she gains more confidence and starts coming into herself more she can start dressing better. i also think it’d be a good thing for her and a possibly redeemed chloe to bond over at that point in the story, maybe it’s even Chloe who hypes her up! idk clothes are such a huge part of self expression i think it’d be cool to have it actually mean something in the show lol
I LOVE the way you redesigned her civilian form! I feel like despite her being a ✨fAsHiOn dEsGinEr✨ she looks so boring and the show rarely focuses on that aspect of her. I absolutely love the light academia look! It really suits her and her vibe!
Imagine how cool would it be if someone animated a whole episode of Callimara’s mlb au! We could see those outfits and I just think it would be way better than the original sires.
Absolutely loved these outfits. When I first started watching this show, I really looked up to Marinette cause I want to be fashion designer but after a couple of episodes I just found that side of her really boring cause there was no big indication of her being one so I’m glad your broadened her wardrobe.💕💕💕
I think in this version Marinette's outfit should be the soft girl because she's very quiet and shy but when she finally gets the courage to confess to adrien she'll change into the paris chic outfit because she now has more confidence and security over herself. idk just a thought
I love love *love* all of these cute outfits! The colors you've picked, the lineart. It's all so cute and exactly how I've wanted Marinette to be shown throughout MLB. You actually captured how she's described and who she's supposed to be. Since you got these refs from pinterest, I think it'd be really cool if she was a style and fashion influencer. Not a big one, but enough where her designs are actually known in online spaces. Because if you want any kind of art out there, you need a following. That could also come into play later when they're defeating hawkmoth. Maybe Marinette enters a competition he was holding for some nefarious reason, or maybe she gets an in with Audrey that gets her a boost in social status. It could be so interesting
Honestly I really like the first and second one, I mean she looks great in them, but the third one is my favorite, she looks like she’s gaining confidence in herself and she’s no longer a quiet person and she does look great in black and white, and she was having fun dressing up
I can see her wearing a combination of both outfit one and two. She has fashionable, creative side but it's hidden by her shy side which is more dominant that's shown physically in her oversized pink cardigan sweater hiding her beige pinafore that can barely be seen because of it 9:56 Also, side note, can I go on record to say, Marinette looks gorgeous with white hair!?
I can't watch the video rn but from the thumbnail alone, these look really cute! I always hated how little the show does with Marinette's supposed dream of being a fashion designer and how Chloe, Adrien, and Marinette just have such boring or odd outfits despite all having some connection to fashion.
I like the idea that the third outfit is the outfit Marinette would wear while trying to impress Adrien thinking that she likes him (Because Cali's Adrien is very fashionable and reserved) but in reality, Adrien thinks pink is what she looks best in, because she always looks happy in pink, and he admires that she can express herself *through* clothing and bring it to life, rather than just being the mannequin *for* the clothing like he is.
My favorite was the light academia outfit. Very girly, delicate and fashionable, if she wore it at the series I'd understand why she's such a talented stylist
I honestly love the third one better. Personally I think it works very well with her character and I *LOVE* the half-up half-down hairstyle along with it.
15:50 This is such a relatable problem ! My personal way of avoiding this mindset is to remind myself that this isn't a part-time job : I'm doing this for fun and it doesn't have to be "hard" or "perfect".
Hell yeah! Marinette looked so plain, and supposedly most of her personality is fashion! I loved the last outfit. Marinette feels so confident than the show’s original design. Keep improving Calli!
I can see Marinette wearing the pink sweater just over her pjs or while relaxing around the house. I'm someone who also loves to wear large jackets/sweaters, and yeah, this is the kinda stuff you wear when you wanna be comfortable or you want comfort, and since Mari is very anxious and insecure, she would want comfort, but not necessarily be able to ask for it.
I really like the soft girl and Paris chic the most! And in all honesty idk how people missed the fact you clearly stated you wouldn't redesign her civilian form. Oh well- The outfits are beautiful anyways- And yes, there are some times where I say my art style should look more realistic or detailed...
Ooooh this is going to be fun to watch!! Edit: Okay, so now that I’ve watched all of the video, I love all of the outfits, and honestly it could be like Marinette designed all of them but (as you mentioned in the video) doesn’t wear them outside. I really like the bun in the soft girl outfit (maybe it’s the ribbon hanging off of it lol) and it really looks like a cozy day in. Marinette looks really spunky and bold in the paris chic outfit so I’m just thinking like, when she gains more confidence later on, what if she wore that outfit to meet with her friends or something. I really like the lineart in that outfit too, it’s very striking. The light acadamia outfit is also very cute, and similarly with the paris chic, she could wear that to school when she gains more confidence (it’s a light acadamia outfit, it’d definitely fit there). All in all, the outfits look really nice, but I think the paris chic outfit is my favorite.
The pink cardigan definitely shows her soft and shy personality and the tan cardigan with pants shows more of her straightforward, get things done, ladybug type personality.
I love these casually fashionable designs for Marinette, you seem to understand her clothing expression on a much more intimate level than the animators do lol! When I saw you struggling with the clothing, it reminded me so much of my own struggles. I would say that you should do some basic shadow sketches that are completely filled in. That way, you can look at the way the clothes can add to a sillouette and not worry so much about showing off a certain body type. Don't be afraid to push your style in both directions! Being more detailed and realistic is great if you want to understand how objects and characters in a piece interact in a believable way and whatnot, but pushing into total cartoon exaggeration also helps by giving art more of a pop of expression. Knowing how to balance both realism and cartoon flair will help your art style improve exponentially. Keep up the great work! I can't wait to see more of these Miraculous Ladybug redesigns!
i really love how you've been building these videos off one another. for this one, i kinda love the idea that like, Marinette has a morning routine or something where she gets up stupidly early to just try on outfits for school, but rejects all of them, cause she doesn't like how *she* looks in them. like that little blink-and-you'll-misss-it scene in howl's moving castle of sophie trying on hats, but kind of hating the way she looks in the mirror. but then maybe expand on this a bit and that she designs the same looks she tries to put herself in for her friends, instead, and likes that way better. (like, imagine Mylène in harujuku fashion) hell, maybe part of what fuels her crush on adrien at the beginning is she designs a ton of outfits for him, in various styles, and he just naturally looks good in *all* of them.
Though I am an Akademia Fan, I feel like the soft girl vibe suits Marinette the best. I could instantly picture her fuzzing around her room while working on designs or homework. It would be wonderful if her outfits would change like that in the show😍
In my headcanon Marinette would be obsessed with lolita fashion (sweet lolita mostly), it just fits for a magical girl who lives in Paris and wants to become a fashion designer. But because of her lack of confidence and not having a lot of money, she would dress in more casual attire, something simmular to yout first outfit. When she transforms into her superhero form, she uses her imagination to create eccentric ladybug themed outfits - yes, she would have many different ones as Ladybug kinda like Sakura from CCS. One thing that just doesn’t seem right to me in the show is how the superhero outfits in theory are supposed to be adjusted to the person’s preference and fashion taste, but Ladybug gets a basic bodysuit which doesn’t suit her at all.
I love the Paris chic, bc its trendy but it also looks like something you could easily put on, look decent if u wake up late for school and always having to rush to school, so its suitable for someone like Marinette. As I've seen many times Marinette sleeps in a lot n she normally rush to school. Knowing that Marinette often likes to hide her face due to Adrian the jacket quite helps with that (also useful to somewhat hide Tiki if that might ever happen)
The second outfit really brought out her more graceful side which I feel would’ve helped her character… since she is literally the most clumsy person in the entire world when in civilian form.
I love all the designs! My favorite is the paris chic but if it had the soft pink hairstyle. I also imagine that she would be wearing combat boots that had whatever she might use as her signature on the side of it
Your outfits are so pretty and really let’s her personality shine! The one thing I do appreciate about Marinette’s outfit and accessories in the show is how they are all marked with her signature pink flowers
These outfits are all so good! I know absolutely nothing about Miraculous (the blandness, unnecessary drama, and Marinette’s Mary-Sue handling killed it for me) but you executed the general vibes soooooo well! As an artist, I can confirm that it’s something I’ve gone through as well… and kind of still am. I think that - like hands and feet - working outside your typical zone to do what you “should be doing” instead of what you want to do is a fairly common artist struggle. I love your work, you would make a wonderful writer and you’re already an amazing artist! Your character redesigns and rewrites are always a delight!!!
She definitely looks like a fashion designer now that her clothes fit her talent or dream and shows that she is very fashionable unlike the actual show.
also no one is ever just 1 aesthetic, everyone's style pulls from so many different aesthetics and inspirations that you can never label and confine it to just one thing.
I think the last one would be perfect for a character development Like, how she goes from being that shy and insecure girl to someone more confident on herself, as a hero and as a civilian
I love the third outfit. The neutral colors really suit her. Also the Cookie Run Ovenbreak music brought back so many memories even though I was only playing for 4 months. This game’s soundtrack hits hard even when you haven’t even spent a year in the game.
i think she would wear these outfits to school as well after gaining more confidence, so maybe in high school? and i like all of them, but the first one the most
I like your takes! I vote for the fist one. You're totally right, neither Marinette nor Gabriel ever dress high-fashion or eccentric enough to really say 'aspiring'/'successful' fashion designer. I can definitely agree that Marinette wouldn't wear super stand-out fashion in public a lot, but she needs to wear something other than the same t-shirt and jeans once in a while.
Personally, I think the first one looks the best. Since it gives me more of a fashion designer kinda feel from the rest. But most of all, they are all lovely!
Her cannon outfit: I see her wearing the cannon outfit in the first season where she is shy, trying to fit in. Not very confident in treading out with her true personality. Perhaps even corresponding with the stress she feels trying to become accustomed to her new school and her new role as ladybug. Often being pulled at, hung up out of sight when alone. Basically the manifestation of her growing internal resentment/fear of everything that is changing within her life. Making a come back far later in the series after an emotional breakdown and hard hit to her confidence, perhaps being burned or given away or put into the back of her closet at the end of it's arc as a final hurrah to Mari's past and her overcome struggles. The light academia outfit: I think this outfit would make its first appearance when Marinette begins to find her place, feeling a bit more confident within herself but not exactly quite there yet. Perhaps she is invited to hang out with Alya in the middle of the first season and Mari, in a fit of spontaneity, decides to just throw it on as it seems the most tame out of all the outfits. Perhaps she could be made fun of by Chloe and the episode could be about doing your own thing because you're not going to make everyone happy. Giving importance to Mari's love for fashion while also using it to develop her character. The rest of the first and maybe first 1/2 of the second season would be a combination of the two outfits before this Light Academia slowly becomes more prominent as her confidence grows and her character solidifies. The Pink outfit: I think the pink outfit would definitely what Mari would use when meeting Chat Noir in her civilian form in. With Chat Mari feels the most comfortable, the most herself because, although he doesn't know it, Chat is her trusted partner and she is certain that he'll never judge her no matter what she wears. I can see Chat and Mari just hanging out in her bedroom watching TV, drinking hot choca, gossiping about Chloe and later Lila, Mari putting on little 'fashion shows' with her mannequins as the models while Chat pretends to be some kind of expert in fashion judging her designs with those little numbered 1-10 judging sticks and a monocle. Also I think it'll be kinda cute that Mari shares the most secret part of herself to Chat and Chat alone because she's so used to being Ladybug around him that Ladybug just slips out. Then Adrien is hella confused by the difference between what he sees as Chat and what he sees in his civilian form. The Paris Chic: I think that this outfit would be reverenced a LOT from episode one, perhaps even within the opening theme, but all we see of it is the design. This outfit has never come to life, hidden within the depths of Mari's desires and guarded by her doubts. We can see her struggles correlating with this outfit similarly to the cannon outfit. But instead of being the manifestation of her self doubt and fear, this outfit is the manifestation of her hope and perseverance. As Mari grows positively, she is seen working towards making the outfit, perhaps she goes out with friends to buy material, or even using the left over material from the hat contest. When Mari has a set back, she stops working on it, both her emotional and her creative sparks visibly drained. Perhaps when the Cannon outfit makes a comeback Mari is actually well on her way to being done with this outfit but in a mental breakdown she literally rips apart her hope and throws it in the bin because she truly believes in that moment that none of her efforts will get her anywhere in life. All that's left is the cannon outfit, that represents the past, clinging onto her back.
MIRACULOUS NEEDS TO DO A SECOND SHOWWWWWW!!! I love the idea you have of this fantasy better miraculous, and its a very tempting illustration you have drawn in my head. I believe the potential of this show could reach peaks some popular shows couldnt. Your art style is so good, and I think after some major character development, she’d actually wear these! I cant choose between them, so i think if there was a new MLB they should switch outfits everyday, because frfr who wear the exact same outfit everyday?
I really like the style of the last drawing! The weighty lineart plus the blocky shading really give it a nice, almost comic-booky feeling. And I can totally imagine an episode where Marinette decided to wear that outfit out but then gets self-conscious about the top and hides it with the sweater and at the end of the episode she's learned to be more confident in it haha. And I agree, Marinette looks great in a bun!
It would be so cute if in the show, she slowly gains more confidence and so we get to see her wear these kinds of outfits out of the house more! It’s a really fun visual way of showing her growth!
I completely agree with this!
I love this idea!

I like this too, also, it lines up with her age too. As the series progresses she gets older and with the last outfit in particular, it just feels a little too grown up for someone 13/14 to me, but someone closer to 15/16 not so much. Hopefully this makes sense!

I’m loving the fashion slander of MLB ❤️
They all look much better than the show but the middle one just sticks to me personally it just looks the best out of them all,
To me as well! The middle one just gives off the vibe of what someone would use to walk on the balcony of a beach house and stare into the sea. Just imagine the breeze hitting her hair and making it fly as well!
If the coat had been pink and more of a trench coat vibe it would’ve been perfect, imo. Then we would have an outfit for every occasion.
YESSSS MARINETTE CAN NO LONGER LOOK LIKE A DIVORCED 50 YEAR OLD!
Divorced 50 year old 😂
WTF ?
Wait she actually does 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
😭
Despite its simplicity, I really like the flower print that Marinete puts on her shirt and accessories, which shows that she was the one who made it.
@@sunkissed_apollo I definitely wouldn't want to be the animator having to keep track of those dots
@@MsLilly200 While I agree, this is Thomas we’re talking about
I think the second one might be the best, because it feels like something she would wear. She'd want to look pretty, but not show off too much, and I think the second outfit really shows that.
Samee!😊😊 I absolutely loved it... I also like the first one too💖💖
Ye
OMG YESSS FINALLY! One of my biggest problems with the show is the fact that characters like Marinette, Gabriel and Nathaniel are supposed to be people who draw/design outfits for a living yet their civilian outfits and hero/villain costumes have a severe lack of style (ok except Evillustrator and some of Ladybug's fusion with other Miraculouses, those were good). The ironic thing is that I heard that Thomas claimed that this show had "the best designs in the industry". Your designs are so good, keep up the good work!
Lol "best designs in the industry"
Thomas just stop, Totally Spies had better, more varied outfits for the main cast than MLB, and that show is pretty dated, all things considered 😂
@@lindsayshanks7555 lmao true😂 He even blocked a lot of people for disagreeing with him and criticizing the designs
“Best designs-”
Tell that to Adventure Time- literally TWO characters, Marceline and Princess Bubblegum, had wayyy more fashionable choices and designs for them than all of the characters in MLB.
How 1.9k likes and no comments?
Totally random but as a fellow artist, I'm in *love* with the fact that all three designs have baggy sleeves.
I used to draw in tight jackets like Show Mari's all the time as a kid, and those things were so damn constrictive when it came to arm movement (in the elbows or the shoulders).
And you don't really realize how important that is until you've spent 10mins on a piece and need to stop for circulation. 😅
So just seeing how comfy and freeing these designs are sends me over the moon lmao.
Yeah she probably also draws her designs too; and no one wants to be restricted with their clothing while doing something
Marinette is a cute character and honestly I wish they did more with her design especially considering she’s an aspiring fashion designer, like why is she wearing that?
they never show her interest in fashion unless its related to adrien somehow
@@Luuni100 absolutely
Fr she looks like a depressed stay at home mom in her 30s
Idk if anyones said this before, but I feel like since she’s an aspiring fashion designer, she could maybe get an internship at Adriens dads Company! That could help them become closer, do more with the fact that she loves fashion, and maybe while she’s working, she has to run to the bathroom or somewhere closed off to transform and save the day!
And she looks way better with her hair down, not that her hair now is bad
I thought I was the only one who was self conscious about my shading. It works with my style as it's more simplistic but it feels too little. Especially as I'm also a fan of super detailed art with God-tier shading
The struggle is real 😭
@@callimara me🤝you
I used to make the shading really extra before but nowadays my style is a lot more simplistic so the shading is really basic
some advice you can totally ignore if you want: I think the problem that you’re having with trying to make your art soft is that a lot of your lineart style is very sharp (something esp visible in the face and chin). Usually when I want to make something look softer I stick to thick lineart, chunkier round shapes, and warmer colors. I think just slighting rounding your lineart could help you a lot!!
Agreed,I have a more “cartoony” style and it’s much easier to softcore and cottagecore stuff
While I do some lore it’s hard to make my characters look sad or even angry sometimes
7:32 It would be nice if throughout history she would show herself more as she gains confidence and there would come a time where she would be able to dress the way she likes. Plus, it's unfair that Ladybug has such an amazing redesign and Marinete remains the same 😗
Omg yes
@@agpa-4.002 Yes! Can’t believe that slipped my mind.
The second one won for me, it just looks like something she’d be most comfortable to wear
Same here
Darker color scheme helps her stand out from the background. Artist to artist, if you want to try something fun to make your art soft, do linear and color as normal but add another layer atop it and shade and add color over the lineart.
Oh, I'll definitely try that!
@@callimara Are you callimara
Thxxx
I really like your idea of Marinette making those outfits but not having the confidence to pull it of in public. Maybe has the show goes on she could wear more and more of her creations, for special occasions at first and then in her everyday life.
THESE ARE AMAZING, I can totally see Marie wearing the second outfit! I feel like Marie could change her outfit as well to show her development. Outfit 2 looks perfect for season 1, stylish yet still shy and reserved. And as she becomes more confident in her civilian life, so does her outfits reflect that! Would be such a cool idea
Mario? Since when was he in the show? /j
@@itsjustmychannel4454 haha sorry, yes Mario the French Ladybug Hero
I mean Mario does wear red-
Honestly-
Makes sense-
They both jump around, wear red, and basically have portals (Mario’s pipes and Mari burrows)
The Paris Chic one gives me maaajor Christina Vee vibes (Marinette’s English va). I love it.
I see the Paris chic as marinette in her room pretending to be a famous fashion designer and doing a fake interview with tiki
I absolutely love the designs, and each designs shows Marinette's passion for fashion designs and each outfit that you drew absolutely presents Marinette's different personalities
This would be cool if one of the three outfits is used for different occasions
Like the first design can be her usual wear for going to school
The second design can be her normal outfit at home, making different outfit designs ( Because for my opinion, the second design looked like one of the designers usual wear, plus as that one kid who loves to draw at school, I always have a jacket on lmao)
And the third design can be her outfit when hanging out with her friends
Overall, I love each design!
For a more soft style you can duplicate the lineart and blur it. You can also change it to an off black like very dark blue
Oooh great tip!
hey, if you wanna make your art look more soft, id recommend using a dark brown instead of black for your lineart. the black can draw the brightness down, so using a dark brown can mitigate it.
When you showed the third design on Instagram I realized what you were doing, I'm glad you remembered that detail in Ladybug's redisigh video!
i think it’d be cool for marinette’s civilian clothes to evolve as she develops!! sure she can start out in the boring outfit but when she gains more confidence and starts coming into herself more she can start dressing better. i also think it’d be a good thing for her and a possibly redeemed chloe to bond over at that point in the story, maybe it’s even Chloe who hypes her up! idk clothes are such a huge part of self expression i think it’d be cool to have it actually mean something in the show lol
She finally looks good-
I would like her to wear all three designs in the show. She could change it time to time like a real fashionable girl.
Honestly I really like the first and second one, I mean she looks great in them, but the third one is my favorite, she looks like she’s gaining confidence in herself and she’s no longer a quiet person and she does look great in black and white, and she was having fun dressing up
With this and the Ladybug redesign, a whole new Marinette shines through!
I can see her wearing a combination of both outfit one and two. She has fashionable, creative side but it's hidden by her shy side which is more dominant that's shown physically in her oversized pink cardigan sweater hiding her beige pinafore that can barely be seen because of it
9:56 Also, side note, can I go on record to say, Marinette looks gorgeous with white hair!?
Personally, I love the pink outfit 💗
It goes so well with Marinette and her love of pink as well. It showes her shyness too. I love how it turned out!
marinette in your style is just so calming and the new wardrobe you gave her is just absolute fire >:D
I really enjoy your channel, it's so relaxing and comforting.
Oh well- The outfits are beautiful anyways- And yes, there are some times where I say my art style should look more realistic or detailed...
i love the first one, for some reason i feel like that outfit is perfect for marinette's personality
Marinette looks so cute in those clothes
My fave was honestly 2nd n 3rd both, Marinette definitely is the type to have like 10 different soft oversized sweaters
FINALLY! THIS IS WHAT I WAS WAITING FOR SINCE I HEARD MARI WANTED TO BE A DESIGNER, AND GET OUT THE HORRIBLE OUTFIT😩😩😩💖💖💖
it would be great if you made multiple outfits for the Adrian and Chloe. Since they are more fashionable.
Yes!! Its a surprise the lack of unique styles there is for a show centered around characters who are fashionable
One thing that just doesn’t seem right to me in the show is how the superhero outfits in theory are supposed to be adjusted to the person’s preference and fashion taste, but Ladybug gets a basic bodysuit which doesn’t suit her at all.
ahhhhh I personally love the Paris chic outfit, it's so stylish on Marinette
I love the Paris chic, bc its trendy but it also looks like something you could easily put on, look decent if u wake up late for school and always having to rush to school, so its suitable for someone like Marinette. As I've seen many times Marinette sleeps in a lot n she normally rush to school. Knowing that Marinette often likes to hide her face due to Adrian the jacket quite helps with that (also useful to somewhat hide Tiki if that might ever happen)
I like the middle one best, but the pink one just feels like something Marinette would most likely wear. Really well done.
The second outfit really brought out her more graceful side which I feel would’ve helped her character… since she is literally the most clumsy person in the entire world when in civilian form.
I love all the designs! My favorite is the paris chic but if it had the soft pink hairstyle. I also imagine that she would be wearing combat boots that had whatever she might use as her signature on the side of it
These are adorable!! I think the soft girl outfit suits her the best.
For outfit #2, I really like the awkward but good hearted smile Marinette has
I think a skirt fits marinette a lot better tbh but I'm sure that would've been harder to animate
She definitely looks like a fashion designer now that her clothes fit her talent or dream and shows that she is very fashionable unlike the actual show.
I like to believe that one day Alya will walk in on Marinette with all these outfits and be like slay Queen
also no one is ever just 1 aesthetic, everyone's style pulls from so many different aesthetics and inspirations that you can never label and confine it to just one thing.
I think the last one would be perfect for a character development
Like, how she goes from being that shy and insecure girl to someone more confident on herself, as a hero and as a civilian
She looks her age?! AMAZING!
I love the third outfit. The neutral colors really suit her.
Also the Cookie Run Ovenbreak music brought back so many memories even though I was only playing for 4 months. This game’s soundtrack hits hard even when you haven’t even spent a year in the game.
Seriously this is perfect because she actually looks good and doesn’t we’re the same clothes every day like a grub
i think she would wear these outfits to school as well after gaining more confidence, so maybe in high school? and i like all of them, but the first one the most
I like your takes!
MLB made me realize that " fashion designer character with incredibly boring fashion sense" is one of my biggest character design pet peeves
My favorite is the second! I think it describes her debuting character very well!
I am absolutely in love with this series. The new designs and stories you've created are beautiful and engaging. You're so talented ❤❤❤
i tink that th second one fit her best but personally my favorite was yh last one. it lookms AMAZING!!
I saw the thumbnail and I already am in love with the designs!
All the outfits look great and suit her redesign. Personally, my fav is the 2nd :) I love the soften and shyness it shows her character.
It would be so cute if in the show, she slowly gains more confidence and so we get to see her wear these kinds of outfits out of the house more! It’s a really fun visual way of showing her growth!
They're all amazing but I like the first one best because it really feels like something she would wear and also I would wear that all the time!!
As an artist, i think your style is fine! Art is about enjoyment, if you enjoy the style you keep on doing that then!
They all look really good but the last one definitely was a personal like
