Had some issues getting the run as smooth as it use to back in the day. Quake Live hasn't gotten a true update in quite some time and doesn't work the greatest on newer hardware operating systems.

Rushes someone who is 200/200 with MG off spawn, gets destroyed, then complains about ping. Never change rapha
9:30 the opponent straight up teleports. the connection is fucked and the game probably feels desynced af. I think rapha just got frustrated, because the of how the mouse feels in ql different from newer games. quake has always had great netcode, and the game itself is a godsent gift time-traveled some 40 years ahead of things, but it always has been pretty unplayable if the parties had different pings, I would say the desync starts at around ~20 ping. like 5ping vs 70ping, you will get a lot of no regs on the other guy. 5 vs 50 less but similar. 50 vs 50 fine again and so on. I mean rapha is the very best at the game, so when he talks, you stfu and listen. but whatever, still a better game design that cs2, valo, apex and so on. 30 years later and the netcode is desynced and bad as ever lol.

I know how you feel man, recently I've tried to play QL after several years of playing a different game. The sensitivity feels completely alien. QC sens is nothing like in QL too, that was one of the reasons why I stopped playing QC, I couldn't get used to its mouse settings.
As for those rails around the corner, QL hit registration is very ping dependant, and lower ping is not always better. Sometimes the game makes you a freaking magnet for enemy shots. Only on LAN it feels totally fair :)

Only really a handful of guys that could seriously challenge Rapha during his prime. Toxic, Evil, Cooller ... Clawz maybe.
Rapha just always found a way. Most cerebral player. His stats speak for themselves.

@@odellus Cypher was a great player of his era but he never dominated in the way that the others I mentioned did. Prime Cypher was much like prime Lexer in that regard. Extremely great player, give Zero4 a run for the top spot for a while, but he disappeared shortly after.
I only mentioned Clawz cos he was pretty much the guy to beat at the end of QL. Rapha was already gone though, and the game was pretty much dead when Clawz started to destroy everyone. So I'd say Clawz was perhaps the best player ever ... cos the other legends had already quit. There was nobody to challenge him.
Cypher got challenged when he was around, though.

QPL finals made it pretty clear it is not Rapha, barely dropped a map the entire tournament (I think 1?) in fairness to him.

It´s actually funny, I was watching some old tournaments with rapha (lan) where he kept missing picking up items, I wonder if its really lag issue, since he did the same thing back in Quakecon, watched like rapha vs Evil and he did it serveral times.
I’ve found alt+entering a few times grants better input lag..I don’t know how I don’t know why I just do it till things feel the snappiest..same thing with qc just alt+enter even alt tab to click the window..something changes I just go with whatever feels faster..try it

Yeah, he’s changed a lot. He also used to be much more grounded in his faith which certainly seemed to help.

I know that when I picked up quake 3 arena again, I had to disable 'enhance pointer precision'. It's a windows mouse setting. There is nothing that you can do about in game that i am aware of. once that was disabled, I reduced my dps to 800 and was good to go. I will delete this comment if it's discovered by the end of the video.
As I recall, if rawinput was enabled you would not have had to do that. (I believe it was RawInput by default in QC)

Went 52-9 on Furious Heights last night. I'm WEEDMAN.
The problem with the rocket jumps not working is related to in_mouse, since I have the same issue timing left and right mouse buttons. It is driver related on QL. while I would say the mouse fix he is running probably attributes to the feel of the mouse movement issue. It produces a slow effect at times, and then it speeds up and feels jerky.
For some reason for me, raw mouse with a mouse fix has issues in QL
It is a masterpiece, but sometimes I wonder if QL will be updated soon.
I suppose it would be better if an indie based on Q3...
(Diabotical for that matter, but that one was so different in feel from QL too that it baffled me)
I would appreciate a QC with item respawn times of 30 seconds for major items to be consistent and easy to understand.
The revamped map also feels easier to play.
As for Quake3 I am only willing to do it in VR anymore.

Ey rapha, hope you read this. I was having similar issues with ql having sh*t control. I'm running a GTX 1650 and I figured out QL doesn't like vsync on more modern Nvidia cards. What helped me was disabling vsync in the nvidia control panel. Disabling vsync in QL did nothing, but Now it feels smooth as butter. Hope that helps.
Any version of any Quake game inherently detests VSync.

hi, i'm also fighting with quake 3, problem is that i can't sync sens and accel between ql and baseq3 (gog), or ioquake3 to be correct, because on regular q3 we have some kind of stuttering on lan (enemy movement), or how to play q3 on lan parties if most of friends dont have ql and we are offline? My original install from 2003 doesnt want to work correctly at all (yes, i still have it:D). thx
For LAN use base Quake III and install OSP 1.36.

@@dantheman1337 See the lagometer. Micro hiccups on the server for Rapha. A consistent smooth 50ms is FAR better than a stuttery 14ms.
Agent wasn't even in the picture, wasn't even on the HORIZON, when Rapha was in his prime. Probably only THREE people alive back then could mount a serious challenge to Rapha (Toxic, Evil + Cooller) and Rapha beat all of those 3 more consistently than the others beat him.

Ну агент может только на паблике побеждать. На любом серьезном турнире типа дримхака или квейкона агент сразу сливается. Мало того, что он впринципе всего на пару таких серьезных туриках был, на обоих он даже близко не был к призовым: на одном он занял ниже 20 места, на втором 8ое. Рафа к сведенью на всех этих туриках уверенно забирал 1-2 места, к тому же он играл на всех таких крупных туриках. Рафа просто уже все доказал, в то время как уровень агента - это играть паблики

the servers are mostly located in germany and man, the russians dont have a good reputation when it comes to lag/teleporting and hitbox manipulation
I enjoyed the game a lot but UT99 was by far my fave because it utilized more skills like basically every skill you could think of but Quake had a cooler atmosphere.
Too bad advanced movement looked like stop-motion, and didn't really have good weapon balance.
Shit weapons, shit movement, only single player was enjoyable in UT99

The various characters actually incorporate various classic movement styles as Rapha himself has documented and praised many times on this very channel. QC is a labor of love from people WHO VERY CAREFULLY appreciated the classic Quake multiplayer, you couldn't be more wrong. I see this exact argument repeated over and over online and I think it's just a cope for people who suck at QC. It's very similar to the arguments people make of Doom Eternal vis a vis Doom 2016, and it's just as wrong, it's as if you expected Id Software to make the same game twice.
@@Hazardteam A bit of a snobbish, gatekeeping attitude there. QC is a movement based arena shooter with characters sourced from the Id Software library. If that doesn’t place it among the other titles then I don’t know what does.
QL is attractive to people who are too lazy to put in the time and learn different movement mechanics in QC. QC is a much more enjoyable experience in terms of game play.

this is actually whats wrong with the game. Just watched rapha wiping the floor with agent on hectic 20 - -1(10 years ago). Now it's vice versa. The whole game concept is fundamentally unbalanced( and can't be) . Really just pain playing out of control. Mentally and emotionally draining with no fun... even as spectator painfull to watch and as much as I respect the game just can't be bothered the stress to play it.

QC felt good when it was first released as beta in 2017 but then they tweaked it too much and it felt like crap.
I had fun with qc back in 17/18 but I reinstalled it earlier this year and it felt really floaty, the sound was impossible to tell where enemies were
