Vigilante 8: Arcade is a vehicular combat video game developed by Isopod Labs and published by Activision. It was announced February 14, 2008 and released on November 5, 2008 for Xbox Live Arcade on the Xbox 360. Isopod Labs was formed by three former members of Luxoflux, developer of the original Vigilante 8 series. A remake of Vigilante 8 with some elements of the sequel also included, Vigilante 8: Arcade features online play for up to eight players.
V8 Arcade received mixed reviews. Aggregate scores average 58 out of 100 at Metacritic and 59% at GameRankings. Reviewers were divided, multiple reviewers felt the game was a good fit for Xbox Live, with one reviewer calling it "a glorious throwback to a simpler age in gaming." Others praised the game's online multiplayer component and the game's salvage upgrade system. Some reviewers, however, felt that the vehicle physics were poor.

Twisted metal is better
I would love a from-the-ground-up remaster of the first two games, but only if Molo is driving the school bus in the first game. No changing it to a prison bus or any other bus because Activision wussed out because of Parkland or Columbine.

Twisted metal was so much less enjoyable. It has good character storylines, but the music was far better in Vig 8.

Any car combat game would do nowadays honestly since today's game library is practically devoid of any- save for Twisted Metal(the one that came out damn near a decade ago).
Vigilante 8 and Twisted Metal both deserve more love. The fact neither saw a release this generation really depresses me; car-combat games were always something I looked forward to.

Really fun series, especially the original. It had a more realistic (though still goofy) tone to it than Twisted Metal, and the '70s vibe gave it a sense of identity. All they have to do is set it to 1080p for modern consoles.
This game got so overlooked, I remember when I was eagerly waiting to play it. I had vague memories of 2nd offense as a kid and really wanted to get back into it and see what I missed, the wait gor me was worth it, this game was tons of fun! The online was pretty good for the most part too, at least when people were playing it... It's hard to believe it's been close to ten years since it came out.

I always think that V8 has so much potencial to be an online competitive game. With the elements of 2nd Offense (like the Hover, Ski Mods), more fluid gameplay (not like this that is clunky and slow), and unique special weapons for every character it would be an awesome game.
You know, Activision was a part of Vigilante 8 back then. Maybe it is possible to convince them to do a Remake of this game.
There's a fan-made PC port of 2nd Offense that has online play.

When I was a teenager this was one of my favorite games! I played it together with my friend, and we were happy then. Many years later I was surprised and dissapionted why this game didn't get continues, why nobody made more Vigilante 8 games. And just few days erier I found out that x-box 360 has its own arcade version! And I'm going to play it!
This should get CTR Nitro-fueled remaster treatment for current gen consoles. Or at least make it Xbox one compatible

Why has this game not been made again since 2008? or a fan community making new levels and characters for it? there is tons of scope for customization.. It was so fun back in the day.

no. if anything it stresses the shit out of one.
@Daniel I think what he is implying is that you could enjoy a game without competing against another human being. A lot of the AAA games are multiplayer with a half ass single player thrown in afterwards, the polar opposite of the way it use to be.
Naw games back then way more competitive they even had game shows competing in arcade games even the parents were involved.

I miss games like this, Twisted Metal series, Rogue Trip. I remember playing it on Playstation and being able to remove the game and insert a music cd.

The Disco music was the best part. I guess that's why twisted metal on ps3 was disappointing. They should do a GTA kind of Vigilante8, armored flying cars and canyons.
I like the remastered graphics. Environments look even more detailed now :)

O que mais sofreu na minha opinião foi o John Torque, era muito loucou ver os terremotos acontecendo com o especial dele, nessa versão acabaram com o personagem. Sem falar que o jogo parece muito parado e lento comparado com o de ps1

this is like CSGO, just an old CS with improved graphics but same gameplay.
vigilante arcade is basycally the same from ps1 but with better graphics, so no big deal if you emulate the old one.
You can play using emulators
Hold Square + X for a moment and release square. Simply nostalgic

Спасибо за видео. Но авто очень дохло сражается. Ставишь три пушки, атакуешь врага ежесекундно меняя оружие. Враг погибает за 30 секунд. Когда враг тебя преследует включаешь зеркало заднего вида и по его пути мины откладываешь. Короче видно, что опыта игры мало
How to play this game on XBox 360 ? where to buy CD?
I don't understand why would they put the game for xbox when the game was a PS1 game. I bought PS3 because I was waiting for my titles RE, V8, Twisted Metal, but some of those game migrated to different platforms. I hate that because I am not going to buy an xbox for one fucking game. funny thing is that when the game does poorly in sales, game developers think the game sucks and discontinue the game when in reality the idea of putting the game in a different platform was the origin of all evil. RE 1 remake didn't do well on sales because they put it in a different console. They thought the game suck, and they changed the game to be a final fantasy horror game. It sucks now.

I managed to get the original two games to work on my PS1 emulator on PC. Some texture bugs here and there but the gameplay is still the same that I can remember. I was a big fan of the Interstate games as well back in the day and just had a look around regarding car combat games. It states on the wikipedia page of V8 that it is a spin-off of the Interstate series. I never knew about this small remake of the game on 360. Wish they would of brought this game back from the dead but it seems that studios are too busy slanging DLC and skins to kids instead.
