Here's the link in case your searching on DTRPG can't find it either. I imagine at some point in the future "preview" might get dropped from the URL.

The books DESPERATELY need professional editing. The main author tends to do "fire and forget" rulesets and expansions, always working on the next thing before fully finishing the current. BTW, dunno if you know and not sure how many others have mentioned this, but: in the middle of the 4AD rulebooks are the "alone against fear" game, "4 against mars/ragnarok/great old ones" etc are all independent games using the 4AD ruleset with changes.

That explains why these books are a struggle for me. I can't help but read them like a technical manual and therefore not adhering to a style / design doc / even the same word for the same thing later in the same sentence causes my brain distress. :)
I have run across these other books but wasn't at all sure what they were! Thank you! I was half assuming they were unofficial fanmade spinoffs or alternate dimension type stuff (a la Shadows of Brimstone); I am still lost in the dark on this game but slowly getting myself acquainted. I appreciate the education. As a newcomer I feel I'm speaking out of turn but from the outside looking in it's kind of a mess. It's old enough that some of the "main" books need to be properly consolidated, a place for all of the tables instead of scattered between 30 zines, and an omnibus of adventures.

You should have had Seven standard weapons after defeating the Troll, you had a chance that one of them was magical, the second roll did not supersede the first roll.

I own a TON of content for this game. I wish I played it more but I play it until I burn out for a month or so once a year or two. Great game but almost too much content 😂

I didn't quite understand how much you have to invest in supplements to get the most from it, but now that I understand that I can see it's a pretty fantastic system. There's just SO MUCH for it, I wish it was consolidated (and well edited) in a large tome or three.

@@CeePhour agree 100% but I think the creator figured he’d make more money on zillions of small supplements especially given the price points. If the books were consolidated he would make less money (though I agree it’s a great idea). You should buy and try/review Four Against the Great Old Ones. It’s fantastic. There’s only 3 books so far.

I love Cthulhu mythos/cosmic horror stuff as well. I'll keep this in mind for a future purchase. Thank you!
