day 1: two of my friends were singing and i went to join them and one of them said ‘oh we’re going to be out-singed you’re such a good singer’ also i noticed that i could kind of make my voice sound sweeter or rougher if that makes sense :))

i want to be cinderella in my school’s musical (into the woods jr) and auditions are tomorrow so i’m listening to this. i think the teachers are picking the roles but we still have to audition with a song. one of the options was cinderella’s song so i’m singing that and i’m planning on wearing a light blue shirt to make it seem like i’m cinderella. my vocal coach thinks i would be a good cinderella, little red riding hood, and/or rapunzel which are my top three choices. i still have to learn the song though!! sorry if this is confusing i’m going to update from now until i know what part i get.

- almost done with memorization and acting. i’m sort of a perfectionist so that’s why it’s taken 1+ hours. i recorded myself and i think i sound good! i am kind of upset that i have the audition before my actual choir class because my voice would be warm if i had choir first. also my mom told me the cast list will be posted at 5 pm on friday!! i’m not going to be too upset if i don’t get cinderella because there are a few characters i really like :)
- i think i’m pretty much memorized but i’m still nervous about two things: 1) mixing up the lyrics!! 2) a girl in my class! i don’t know if she’s going to sing the same song as me or the little red song but she’s a threat to me not only because she’s a soprano, but she’s good at singing!! she’s my friend so it’s bad!!
🥿 singing audition day: today’s the day! i woke up early so i had time to warm up and make tea. it’s around 7:30 rn and my audition is around 10:20. i was nervous yesterday about stumbling over the lyrics but i am less nervous today because i think i was focusing too much on the lyrics. i’m glad i got to sleep on it!
- i think i did good today. some people who were singing the same song as me messed up the lines but the other girl i was talking about was better than all of us. she didn’t really act though; she just moved her hands around. i was sort of acting and hopefully they thought of cinderella when they saw me in my blue shirt. i just wish it was friday so we can get the cast list! also i’m in a scene with my friend who is reading for cinderella. i’m reading for the bakers wife. i just hope i’m cinderella in the actual musical. also apparently one of the girls in my class had the list of the roles and put who she thinks would be each, and she put me as cinderella!! it’s nice that a lot of people think i should be cinderella but only the teachers’ decisions matter!

I still didn't get Mrs Potts though since they want us to audition again (it was me and another person auditioning but now there's another person so they want us to audition again to choose fairly) BUT!!!! the directors and producers said I'm "Guaranteed" to be of the main cast because of my "talent" :)))!!!!!!!

edit: i didn’t get timon BUT i didn’t get a dancer which is a group who does special really hard choreography in almost every song separate from ensemble. so i’m rly happy !! plus my director just gave it to me without me trying out !! it might be bc i’m in show choir tho 🤷♀️

ok so my theater program is doing “anything goes” this summer, for grades 8+, and the auditions are on June 23. I have to do a tap dancing number and a singing number. it’s possible that I’m not going to get a lead role bc I haven’t been in the program for more than one year so they might not pick me, plus I’m only in eighth grade so they might want to pick older members instead. but I’m willing to try. hopefully this subliminal will help me get a good role, and I will update on June 23, the day of the audition

Omg here’s an update- I didn’t get in the cast for Mamma Mia- but it introduced me to someone who directs my home town community theatre and eventually got me to play Inga in a bigger cities production of Young Frankenstein! Now i’m listening again as i’m prepping my audition for heathers!
