There's something kinda darling about this music video. All these old people working in dead-end jobs in delapidated places that nobody cares for anymore, when all of a sudden, out of nowhere comes Nightwish to bring life back into their worlds and make them happy again. And that last scene of them all dancing together to the song is just lovely!
Yeah, this is a pretty soft song compared to alot of their stuff, but hey, it's not meant to be brash and badass and in-your-face, or melancholy and sorrowful. It's meant to be uplifting, cheerful and whimsical. And from a band that claims to take inspiration from Disney and Tim Burton, we can forgive a little whimsy every now and then.

I love your theory. The only thing I would add is Troy appears at 3:15 posing as (to me) the boatman... who ferries people to the "other side" when they pass away. Given how they all disappear in a poof of smoke when he's in the boat, and they are all happily together in the end, that may suggest they all passed on.

I don't understand why so many fans are complaining. Nightwish is growing, evolving, and changing as Tuomas is continuously looking for that "one sound" that he feels is really Nightwish. All bands experiment and try new things out. Is this album my favorite? No, but it is still a very good album.

This is definitely a song that grows on you. Don't judge it by the first listen. Listen to the lyrics, the message of the song, watch the video, the happy faces at the end of it. And then you'll get the song. It took me that, at first I wasn't excited about it either. It's not "a crappy pop song", it's just not a heavy song. Listen with thought.

My thoughts on the song: Nightwish new song so many people seem to not like it but i love it. it so beautiful and it makes me feel like that if i was having a bad day this would lift my spirit up. nightwish you have not disappoint me. this is a very lovely and great song to listen to and i would recommend it to any other fan or those who like this type of song.
Not all songs need to be powerful to be good. Idk why there people leaving bad comment but i feel this is a great song. I have listen to there other songs in the past and i love this song as much as the other. as long it good i fine with it.

There is a time and place for more power and strength. This song is meant to be uplifting, inspiring, even liberating. The gentle, undulating beat imparts a feeling of riding along with the music. Too much power will blow the message to pieces and overshadow the words.
More power will come with the album.

you are so Wise and I agree so much !! I've been telling this since this morning because I can't stop reading people telling they're disappointed. I can see why this song was released as a single, it's beautiful but it's not saying too much about what we'll hear in the entire album. If everything was in this song, why waiting for the album.. It's just a short and sweet sweet taste before the epic lunch.. I Wonder what can you blame on this song that you couldn't blame on " Amaranth " or "Nemo". There are no guitar solo that's right but it's a soft one and there a flute solo you can't put 30000 solo of every instrument used in the song.. Damn I'm pissed at people right now!!

I always end up returning to this video on a regular basis. It's one of the most beautiful and meaningful songs that I've ever heard.
It's a celebration of our fellowship in life, humanity and the universe at large. No matter who we are, where we are, we are all intrinsically the same and connected. As Carl Sagan once said - we are one singular voice in the cosmic fugue.
I'm in awe. Floor is so beautiful and fits Nightwish perfectly. One of the best voices in metal. I can't wait to see them live this year.
This whole album seems to have themes of how, if you stop to enjoy it and take it in, there is always beauty and joy to be had in life.

Heard this live and it was very, very exhilarating. Strangely relaxing and yet very metal and hard.
My Grumpy passed away last weekend...this song is such a fitting tribute to him...and to others. A life lived to the fullest, in each own’s way, is a life not wasted. We all have regrets about something, whether it’s a wrong or letting an opportunity pass...but ultimately not regretting anything. I love it.

Wow. I'm a big fan of black, thrash, and melodic death metal, bands like Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult, All Out War, and Arch Enemy. This, symphonic metal, is totally different but it's totally amazing in it's own way!

This is an extremely beautiful song. And for some reason, the very ending at 4:13 puts a wide smile to my face.
the ending is the best part of this whole video imho, the playback is just not really on par, but the song is, regardless. I would say nightwish is best when listened to live. The true feeling and their proficiency as a musician/singer do really shine brightest.
I know you all these these comments saying 'This song is wonderful" and other things, but I'd like to ad my own view. I've seen people say that this song isn't powerful. I'd beg to differ. Not many songs, make me cry, but mixture of soft and hard music, mixing with the glorious video bits of these old, decrepit people being forced to do things that can't be bright, and the glory of music making them lively again... It warms my soul. It warms my heart, soul, and everything in between. This is a masterpiece to those who enjoy this genre, and i'd recommend it at every chance i could.

How come I've never watched this video before? That was beautiful.
I've always listened to traditional 80s metal. When I first heard nightwish with tarja I was undecided. I wasn't fully convinced by symphonic metal.
Over time I realised it made perfect sense. Europeans love classical music and folk music. It makes sense to have these additional influences thrown into the melting pot.
Maybe I was waiting all this time for floor to take the helm. Now I can't get enough of nightwish. Some bands just grow on you over time.

Great job with the video! I think this is the best video Nightwish has ever made. The theme of making abandoned places (and people) come alive to tell their stories combined with the joy that is present in this video without a trace of ridicule makes it truly touching. This video tastes of life and laughter and still it has more depth than I have seen in any music video for a very long time.
The key that makes it work are the actors and actresses, their expression works! Moreover they are old, respected finnish actors and I feel that this video is also a recognition to the passing generations. Here the old and the younger artists come together and make something special. Bravo! I'm touched.

This song, like all of Nightwish music, is magnificent !
This is a great first song to kick off the new album!! The melody and arrangement is very consistent with Nightwish does with their sound, yet advancing their creativity to push the boundaries of the musical talent of the band. I'm really excited to see them here in the US at The Agora Theater in Cleveland, OH.

I didn't like this song when I heard the first time. Now I can't get enough of it.
I don't know why but whenever I see old people enjoying their lives, I feel a sudden warmth and satisfaction.
I'm old enough to remember when the Beatles and the Rolling Stones came out (they were ok, but not great), so I've heard lots of music in my life. I am extremely lucky because in 2004 my little brother introduced me to the best band in human history. Even great bands like Led Zeplin, Deep Purple, Eagles, Heart, Scorpions, Dire Straits, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Styx do not have more than 5 great songs each. Same with more recent great bands like Sabaton, Evanescence, and In Flames. Nightwish probably has at least *thirty* great songs. Nobody else has done that, and I don't see how anyone else ever will.
I suspect that the members of Nightwish know that they are the best - they had a contest to see who could cover one of their best songs - Élan. I was fascinated by a young Hungarian couple from Transylvania (Andrea Kovács and Necro Mango) who entered the contest and *significantly* improved the lyrics. In fact, I was blown away. The only problem was that you needed to understand Hungarian in order to *really* appreciate it. For those who deem the new Nightwish album as being a lame attempt, it would be delightful if every band in this world brought forth music of the same calibre (regardless of the genre).
