  • Driving TOP OF THE WORLD HIGHWAY or Yukon Hwy 9 from Dawson City to the Alaska Border at Little Gold where you'll find the northernmost Canada-U.S. land border crossing!
    www.google.com...
The entire highway is 100% unpaved therefore not easy to drive on, low cruising speed is strongly recommended!
Good thing, this particular highway is not used by big trucks at all, very rarerly get to see an 18-wheeler crusing along to/from Dawson City!
Highest elevation right before the Alaska/Yukon border: 1325 meters or 5469 feet above the sea level!
Canada-U.S. border is not open 24 hours, check the hours before heading to that particular border crossing!!!
    www.cbsa-asfc....
If you happen to be late, you'll have no choice but to camp out by the border until very next morning... lots of mosquitos in that area and cold!
June, July & August are the best months to travel thru this very remote part of North America, Alaska included.

I'm glad you had a nice beautiful dry day without mud, for that trek across the Top of the World Hiway. I myself have never been across it myself, until today.😁 The first wildlife, with those two grouse, don't know but what they could have been Spruce Hen's.. Taikuu for the ride, stay safe, God bless your journey, see you on another portion of the road.. ben

      Howdy Ben,
Wanted to cover this very long road as well when I left Dawson City www.google.com/maps/dir/Dawson+City,+YT/Tuktoyaktuk,+NT/@63.97731,-139.2345104,10z/data=!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x5148e3cbd4f5b5b7:0x4a8d7ab95cad1ffd!2m2!1d-139.4332999!2d64.0639058!1m5!1m1!1s0x5113cb935c41b04d:0x1155e872d8421ea3!2m2!1d-133.034181!2d69.445358!3e0?entry=ttu
but from the junction with Hwy 2 the entire Hwy 5 all the way north to Arctic Ocean is 100% unpaved and personally I'm sick and tired of driving on such thirld-world country-like roads!
In couple of days I'm leaving Whitehorse heading south to Dawson Creek BC the home of the Alaska Hwy Mile 0 landmark sign and then farther south to Vancouver and Victoria BC, home of the Trans-Canada Hwy Mile 0 lanmark sign and a quick swim into the Pacific Ocean, then back home to Toronto!
So far ~7.5K miles since July 11, most likely ~10K miles for the entire road trip when I'll get back home!

Monday is Discovery Day in Yukon, day off for many residents, curious how many will travel to Alaska for this particular long weekend!
Enjoy the weekend and be well.
      God Bless America & TRUMP2024!
