One important bit of information missing from this video on the six month extensions is that the current ban does not apply to those entering the Philippines under the spousal Balikbayan program evinced by their BB passport entry stamp. I just received my first six month extension after my one year free stay here in the RP under the Balikbayan Program. JRC has since updated this information so no worries if you're married to a Filipino and entered with your spouse under Balikbayan.

My guess concerning the extensions would be to generate more money incrementally while attempting to streamline the system via the internet or just in general. They still need to have the timelines coincide re: both the visa extensions and the driver's license requirement for it to make sense along with reducing the bureaucratic bottlenecking at the LTO offices.

My 1-year work visa in Japan costs only $35 USD for the entire year. Sometimes, I receive a 3-year visa for the same price. Could you imagine if the Philippine gov’t only charged $35/year instead of $35/month?! Greed at it’s best.

@@davewright9313 Hi Dave. Do you live in the PHs? Thanks for the info. I never heard renewing the tourist visa in the PHs was $60/month. $60 USD?! I’m Canadian, so for me, that would be $80 CDN! Is it really $60 USD/month??! Unbelievably expensive just for an immigration official to stamp your passport or update your alien registration card each month. The PHs should do 1-year visa’s for $60. I pay only ¥4000/year ($30 USD for a full 12 months in Japan).

Thank you for this info. The week before you leave the Philipines, if you want a visa extension, do you need to schedule your appointment at the immigration online and/or do you need to fill out an application before showing up? And do they need a proof of income document or just your passport and a coopy of it? I also assume you need an onward ticket EVERY time you apply for an extension? Thank you!!

I convereted my USA license to PHI license before I was here 6 months. A better question: the Dumaguete reuires a 6 months visa to be eligible to do this conversion. I went to Bais and they did it. Now how screwed up is the LTO...There are no 6 month visas, but you need6 Months to get a Philippines license at the Dumaguete LTO.

6 month option is NO longer shown on the E-services website, and I'm 64, so the over age "60" thing means nothing . I've used this the last 3 extensions, so much easier and faster. I bought a printer to print out my receipts once completed the extension process. Sucks ya can't get 6 months anymore. I used JRC last year and got 6 months that time only. Here 2 years in July, plan to marry within the next (3rd)year, and get past all this extension stuff and expense lol

One thing I know about about The Philippines rules and regulations is that people spread rumors and then everybody reacts. It just confuses thing even more.,., That's why Vloggers who talks about Immigrations rules changes and flight information and Visa rules coming to The Philippines are always busy making videos. Normally Expats who have the time would go to Immigration offices and do the visa extensions themself to save money,., why would you pay 2K+ pesos for someone to do it for you?
