SparklyWolf AJ There are 2 different versions, one with lots of 3rd Party Addware and one with less clutter... If you scan camstudio with Malwarebytes Antimalware it gives you big time alerts !

I am about to get Camstudio but I am sooo confused. People are saying it's malware but others are saying it's not. Is it to do with which windows version you have? I've got 10? Is Camstudio malware on that? Someone please help.

hey guys guess What??? Cam Studio is a freaking virus. I spent the entire day getting rid of it. No joke. So dont get cam studio. Unless of course, you like viruses for some reason. Hope this helped.

playing on macs is fine if you can't get a PC yet. I'm actually playing on mac and looking for a cheap enough option for PC, (Due to me having over 80 games on PC and 40 of those playable on mac.) I do think it's a downside that I can't play current AAA releases but it's good to know I can play for the moment on my mac. :)

Hi! A few antiviruses detect a malware virus on the CamStudio executable. So it's a no-no!
Just use Action Mirillis .U can record at 120 FPS with 1080p :)

***** It isn't free but you CAN get a free trial to see if you like it. It just has the watermark. It DOES have a ton of options, so you need to really go through them all to be sure you have it the way you want (microphone on/off; record webcam at the same time; make an audio file, etc. etc. etc.) We've been using it for about a year with no issues. The commercial version is $50 - not bad at all. I use it to record voiceovers only, sometimes, too. :)

Hey Derral, thanks for the recommendations. Screen capture is something I rely on very often and have been using a lame free software. I will look into ScreenFlow.
Personally I prefer to use NVIDIA ShadowPlay. Literally no impact on performance even while recording on highest bitrate and 60 FPS, amazing quality and totally free. Comes with GeForce Experience on NVIDIA GPUs only and it lacks features for live streaming

2CPT1 MP for some reason NVIDIA shadowplay massively impacts the performance, only while recording, while streaming its completely fine

yea because when i record on OBS it lags a LOT! at 60 fps when i go to shadow play no lag and i can stream to youtube! :D
Fraps is another one that gamers use. It's $37 and it can record 1080p 60fps MP4. It's got a very simple interface. :)

Derral Eves There's good and bad points with the software, but its free and piggy backs so the FPS hit is minimal, so for gamers its a great free option if you have a NVidia gpu

Dennis Sphatt You're going based off of ratings on Virus Total. VT is great for scanning data, but I would not recommend it for a rating platform. That is 3 people versus 5. A great deal of people that consider themselves _tech savvy_ are far from it. People often misidentify things, or in other words a false positive. I highly suggest going elsewhere for ratings and reviews.
People that have issues with malware with CamStudio are *not* tech savvy. How can I make that claim? Well, a tech savvy person does not obtain content from untrusted sources.
CamStudio is open-source, anyone with the know how could check the code, modify it, and compile it.

There are many issues with OBS. Many of my games are just black screen.

dsadad21 Well i bought it really cheap long time ago, wasnt even called filmora, its 49.99, its really cheap if you compare it with camtasia, i really liked the speed up options in video specially for editing videos of tutorials in speed paintings. It has tons of features, you should try the trial.

DJB ONTV Shadowplay is only available for free for NVIDIA GPU users AND only if you have a desktop.

Derral Eves Its not that good. Cant edit audio between Game and Mic have to end up using Audacity and has saving issues. It is also still in Beta stages

Reading the comments about Camtasia around here is kinda funny and sad at the same time. It is self explanatory that cracked software can be full of malware if you catch a faulty scene release. Recommending against a software just because you've stolen a wicked and sabotaged version of it and rating it based on that is not only illegal and immoral, but also straight-up stupid. And I mean very, very stupid. But I guess that's what most people do. Blindly download Trojan horses from unknown sources and compromise your system and thus your whole internet-identity and usage just to save yourself some money. Go ahead. Let the internets scum fill their pockets at your expense.

OBS is crap.. when I try to record it is zoomed in.. and changing the resolution doesn't fix it.
+hot2go2 When i used OBS: I pressed record was waiting, then i switched over to my browser what was captured and it looks fine. I played for almost 5 min. Pressed Stop. I looked at my video and only recorded 26 seconds. After that i tried again and then OBS recorded 8 seconds... wth is going on with this program. My friend has the same laptop with this program. Same settings. And OBS works fine on his laptop....

Hi Derral, what screencasting software do you personally use? I hope I'm terming that correctly. I need the ability to record both webcam and screen simultaneously at the same time. Plus maybe would also like some additional features like adding images or captions easily. I use a Windows pc, what do you recommend?

Canadian sucks for gaming!! it can't record full screen gameplay! it's good if you want to record custom screen! I would not spend 299$, get free trial and when that expires there's a way to extend trail for few more days...

The problem with the free trial is that when you got to publish you find out that the video you worked so hard on will appear with a big watermark saying you produced with a trial version! Would be nice if they tell you that at the outset (maybe in fine print but that's sneaky); instead it's like blackmail because you have to upgrade and pay $299 if you want to actually publish your video.
No, i've never experienced that...I do edit videos on Camtasia. My free trial has expired already but i have figured out a way to get in easily without having to pay for it!!

In my opinion, Camtasia is the best Screen Recorder & Video Editing software period. You can't find anything better.
iOS 11 Screen Recorder is a new one, released last year for Apple devices. I have it on my iPhone. The video comes out clean, crisp and clear. The sound is great. Unfortunately, there are 2 issues that Apple need to resolve which I posted in my channel this morning. I have been using this app. These issues are not a big deal because I have a Video Editing software. It would have save time though on editing if these problems are fixed. Once these issues are fixed, this would be a great portable screen recorder.

Great video....I'm just getting started with this so I'm looking for advice. What I'm looking for is the best software and hardware to get started without spending a fortune. I need a good screen recorder for both live streaming on CZcams with tutorials and video editing software to create and edit timelaps videos of my digital paintings. I'm also looking for the right camera setup for live streaming and videos that aren't live...I would greatly appreciate any feedback I can get from you.
