D'Addario EJ27N Classical Guitar Strings - Review & Sound Test

  • The D'Addario EJ27N Classic set is great for beginners and experts alike, as it offers a warm tone, balanced sound, comfortable playing feel and are still considered affordable. This set is ideal for everyday practice, playing gigs and for students. I'd recommend upgrading to the EJ45N Pro Arte set for a recital or recording, as that set offers louder projection and crisper basses.

      Thanks, Justin! I know you've been using these treble strings on the Godin for years, so that's great to hear!

    Thanks for the review! Didn't expect such low price strings to sound that good. 😎

      Thanks, Tomas! I agree that this set was a good fit. Some of it may have been the guitar too. I used to use the EJ27N set on my Alhambra, when you first started watching my videos, and early videos with my Ramirez. The local guy at my shop (in the first "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing" video) would do a classical restring for $25 cash with these strings. Even though I could do it myself, it was more to keep the relationship going with a small shop. After he moved away in July 2020, I started experimenting with different sets, since I was doing it myself.

    What I've read somewhere is that D'Addario makes the EJ27N from their own nylon material extruded in their factory. And for the more expensive Pro Arte they actually purchase the lines from another plastic/nylon manufacturer. If that's true I don't know :)

      Thanks, Martin! Interesting, I'll do some more research into it too. There's definitely a difference in tone and feel, mostly in the trebles, so that could be the case.

    I use these strings and I am quite satisfied over all. Your video reminds me of having to change strings asap:).
    Keep well, Josh

      Thanks, Heino! Glad to hear these are available over in Europe too. Probably people are as fascinated by American made strings in Germany as people in America are by German made strings, LOL.

      Thanks, Todd! I filmed this in HDR but exported in standard definition. That makes standard definition more saturated and everything pops a bit more.

    Will they work well on a Yamaha C40?

    • @Josh.Vanjani
      @Josh.Vanjani  Před 3 měsíci

      Yes, these strings are an ideal set for a Yamaha C40 because they are considered a student string, just like a C40 is considered a student guitar. The D'Addario EJ45 set would sound great on a C40 too and even bring out a better sound, but the EJ45 price might not be justified for a C40.

      @@Josh.Vanjani just got the EJ27N, they work brilliantly. There is only a slightly positive difference in the sound, but the strings feel amazing in comparison to Yamaha C40 stock strings. Thank you so much
