Your friend Bill the conductor is living a dream ! He sure does look the part of past generations when Railroad men dressed with dignity out of respect for their profession. I'm proud of him.

Fascinating! Love the creek shots! Thank you. I saw an interesting old photo of Schuyler Street last week. It was maybe 70s or 80s era showing passengers boarding the train in the middle of the street in Utica as if it was a bus. It was a southbound passenger excursion and freight dropoff combo-run kind of like this Adirondack northbound Cabin Fever excursion.

I was on one of those trains. We boarded at the brewery, went to Cortland and back. My mom came along. Big delay on return: some kids set a few bridge timbers on fire. We had to wait a few hours before proceeding. Got back to Utica close to midnight

The waterfall and footbridge shot was nice at the end. You and Witold watch the weather and please stay well! Watching from Rome, NY.

Yes, it's Owen Rd but I didn't recall the name while narrating. The crossing is a couple hundred feet or so off Taylor.

There's just something about Witold. Even finicky on a dog treat good Lord! He's so quiet and non-movable I would probably wind up leaving him behind Trackside not noticing until I got back. That area just looks like it has those sudden temperature inversions and sudden wins and suddenly the season changes again. Tomorrow just mid 30s for Saint Pat's Day when all the drunks rollout it's time to hunker down and watch tapes

When I was growing up, say, 1 year to 17 years, now 75, we use to Tent Camp at Floodwood Pond where the Railroad Guard had a shack which served as his home and he sold Worms, other Bait and Ice Cream to the summer people. We would see the Train coming and going... Glad to see it running again... My little Brother and I would collect spilled Coal from along the Tracks to fuel our Campfire..

Witold (vee-told) is a curly-coated retriever, an old English breed. He's 10 and was born in Granite Bay, California.. I wanted an unusual name. I read it's German for something like "rules the woods." It's also a common first name in Eastern Europe.
