Olivier Polge, Perfumer-Creator for Chanel, sees perfume as a formula - one that is like a very precise musical score. Hailing from a perfume-making family in Grasse and gifted with the sensibility of a musician, he creates each formula in the way that a composer creates a music score: both by weighing ingredients and proportions, striking chords of scents, and achieving a remarkable intensity of notes.
His approach is particularly reflected in the creation of GABRIELLE. Inspired by the dazzling personality of Gabrielle Chanel, Olivier Polge's new creation recalls her groundbreaking understanding of the contemporary perfumery: an ethereal olfactory resonance from white flowers like a chorus, in which fresh tuberose matches with orange blossom, jasmine and ylang ylang; however, a fragrance is different for each person who wears it. This may well be the final touch, the sensual trail left behind that makes a perfume magical.
