- PCM's Caitlin had the chance to spend the afternoon with Darren Criss at the Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival in San Francisco, California! Criss is famous for his starring role as Harry Potter in the "A Very Potter Musical" series, and he has recently released a debut EP, titled "Human."
Check out what Darren had to say about his brother (Chuck of Freelance Whales), his time as a camp counselor, and the status of co-star Joey Richter's love life...
I love that she doesn't interrupt him like they do in most interviews. She just lets him ramble on because watching/listening to him ramble on is the best thing to be doing.

Aw, the question about music and acting just warmed my heart. "Ideally I'd like to do both." And now he gets to! Holy shit, imagine everything you've been working towards actually happens.

"Who knows if I'll book a TV show..."
1 month later: Gets on Glee.
It's crazy with how much can happen in almost one year. One year later he's a regular on, arguably, one of the most popular shows in the world, playing such a fun role that also means a lot to many people, he went on a WORLD TOUR and is about to be in a movie, and in just five months, he's going to be on Broadway.
I think I speak for both Starkids AND Gleeks when I say that we're all really fucking proud of this kid and what he's accomplished. You go, Dare. :')

awww if only this 2010 version of Darren knew that pretty much all the stuff he mentioned would happen in the next 5 years for him (he composed Starship, toured with Starkid and now Listen Up and is working on his studio album). Plus he has a job that combines music and acting. If only 2010 Darren knew what 2013 Darren knows
This will be me in a couple years... auditioning like crazy and hoping to land something. I admire Darren for not giving up on his dreams.

How is it that every time he speaks he makes me love him even more?
I really just love that he inadvertently & accidentally predicted his own future in many of his earlier interviews. I can only hope I have that much luck with my future as a current struggling college student continuously praying I make it out alive. Darren deserves all he's been given, what a great guy. :]

He luck out thanks to Glee...he was speaking about doing what he loves,singing and acting and then he was cast for the show.He really deserves to be there,he's such a beautiful person...he inspires me everyday 'cause I know now that with your talent and passion you can do whatever you want. Oh and,he was at just "some music festival" during this interview and now I heard he's at Coachella...nice qualitative leap!! ;-)

It is SO awesome that one year later he is on one of the biggest (sort of) TV shows and is still known as freakin Harry Potter...
Darren Criss is probably the most down to earth person. I enjoy how real he is and even when he's rising quickly to fame with glee, he's still himself and still sticks to who he is. He is so delightfully friendly and nice and people just seem to easily connect to his warm personality. He is the epitome of charm. DCriss is so easily love-able.

i love him. and as i'm watching this and listening to how he would like to bake his cake and eat it too, i can't help but think "and little does he know that in a few months... he'll be singing the most downloaded song from glee."

I am loving watching Darren in interviews but I've decided that he must be an alien or a robot or something because how can any person can be so witty and charming and kind? His rambling answers are the best because you know he's saying what he feels and not just some pre-packaged response.
For everyone who's asking, yes, he is high. Darren is one of those lucky people that gets high off of living life to it's fullest. I love this guy so much!

a month later you will cut your hair and get glee. a year later you will be a icon to people and showing off your amazing talent. in three years you will have had a hollywood movie out called imogen. in four years you will be in every paper or magazine showing the world your vocal range and amazing acting. you are and always will be loved darren.

Yes. It was late summer of 2010. About a month after AVPS was released and about a month before he cut his hair for his Glee audition.
