This video presentation continues the discussion we had about Theories of Quality Management. Total quality management is a management approach that prioritizes product quality with the goal of achieving long-term success through customer happiness. According to the last video on TQM, it promotes ongoing development and improvement in the delivery of high-quality healthcare services to patients by making sure that leaders and workforce members are cooperating under the same standards, goals, and objectives. The second manufacturing technique is called Just-in-Time (JIT), which begins production as soon as orders are received and focuses on reducing costs by using fewer resources. Although thorough preparation is required for a project to be executed successfully, TQM and continuous improvement go hand in hand with it. I'm incredibly grateful for the chance to get to see this very informative video.

This video was very precise, aside that it was the continuation on the previous video it was also focusing on the theories and definition of terms itself. This video was very specific about the quality itself, the quality improvement and the quality you could provide to your patient. Furthermore, it also taught how to be a reliable nurse and reliable co-workers.

In this video, I learned the different terms and definitions related to the theories of quality management such as Total Quality Management, kaizen, and the Just-In-Time (JIT) concept. The next segment talked about the terms and their examples when applied in the nursing organization and upon learning all these, I have come to the conclusion that these terminologies are important to help professionals understand technical and scientific contexts in order to be able to use them appropriately. One of the terminologies is Quality management in healthcare, which is the management of system designs, policies, and processes that reduce, if not completely eradicate, harm while enhancing patient care and outcomes. In connection, quality improvement is needed to improve patient-centered care by utilizing a quality improvement plan, which then serves as a guide to help providers self-assess their performance in delivering quality education and care, and to plan future improvements. This video is truly informative since it provided such details that are thoroughly explained to understand the health-related terms by its definition. This made me realize that there is nothing more fulfilling than performing one's job with excellence while making a difference at the same time in order to provide continuous quality improvement to these patients in the future.

The video discussed the continuation of the previous topic which is the total quality management. Some terms, definitions and examples related the total quality management were tackled in this video. From the previous videos that I watched there are several different theories at work guiding TQM practices. Total quality management systems use a variety of tools and theories to empower employees, build a team atmosphere and focus on the voice of the customer to deliver quality products on time to customers. I realized that TQM have an important and beneficial effect on employee and organizational development by having all employees focus on quality management and continuous improvement, companies can establish and uphold cultural values that create long-term success to both customers and the organization itself. TQM’s focus on quality helps identify skills deficiencies in employees, along with the necessary training, education or mentoring to address those deficiencies. The standards set as part of the TQM approach can reflect both internal priorities and any industry standards currently in place. And again, I'm grateful for this supplemental video, it is informative and they provided some examples too. I learned a lot of important things today that I can use someday.

This video presented the continuation of the theories to quality management. This video focused on discussing the quality assurance theory, continuous improvement/kaizen, just-in-time, and the definition of terms and examples applied in the nursing department or organization. The speakers in the video presented the topics in a way that it can be understood easily.
The first theory that was discussed in the video was the quality assurance theory. I’ve learned that this theory focuses on product quality. For me, this theory is of big help in organizations to ensure that they meet the needs and expectations of the customers. Another theory that was discussed was the continuous improvement/kaizen. Through the name of the theory, I can already tell what is it all about. It is about the continuous improvement that an organization should possess in order to meet their desired objectives, The term “Kaizen” was new to me. Through the video, I have learned that it is a Japanese term for “continuous improvement” (Kai= change, Zen=good) or “Good Change”. I’ve come to realize that this theory can also be applied onto ourselves. Making good changes will allow us to learn to adapt to new people, new environments, new roles and new situations. In addition, the Just-In-Time (JIT) Theory was also discussed. I’ve learned that it is a management philosophy and not a technique. It focuses on manufacturing of goods to precisely satisfy customer demand in terms of time, quality, and quantity. Moreover, the video also presented different terms and its definitions. The terms that were discussed were quality, quality care, quality assurance, quality improvement, quality improvement plans (QIP), indicators, sentinel events, benchmarking, best practice, quality management, total quality management., effectiveness, efficiency, continuous quality improvement, continual improvement, rapid cycle testing, and risk management. Some of the terms were already familiar to me and some were not. I was able to understand the different terms thoroughly since the speaker also applied the terms in the nursing setting or used it in a situational manner.
In general, this video was very informative and it helped me a lot in understanding the different theories and terms especially their uses in the healthcare field. I am sure that the learnings I obtained through this video will help and guide me to become an efficient and effective nurse in the future.

After watching the video, I have learned that the purpose of Total Quality Management (TQM) theories is to improve the overall quality of an organization's products, services, and processes. TQM theories provide a framework for organizations to develop and implement quality improvement strategies. These theories aim to create a culture of quality that permeates an organization, from top to bottom. On the other hand, the video also discussed the various definitions of terms used in various nursing organizations. The purpose of defining key terms in Total Quality Management (TQM) in nursing is to provide a common understanding and vocabulary for discussing and implementing TQM practices. Nurses and other members of the healthcare team can ensure that they are all using the same language and concepts when discussing TQM by defining terms.

The video itself was the continuation of the previous topic which is the quality management. However, to be more precise this video focuses more on the theories to quality management and its definition of terms. The video was very informative. It taught me about the quality itself, the quality of care that I could provide to the patient, the quality assurance in which it enlighten me on how could I maintain the high quality of health care by measuring it's effectiveness, quality improvement, quality improvement plans, indicators, sentinel events and etc. Overall the video gives me an insight on how to be a better nurse towards the patients, how flexible a nurse should be for any unexpected events that may happen along the facilities and how to be a reliable nurse towards it's co-workers.

  • @danielchristopherarcenas251

This video introduces the many terminologies and meanings associated with quality management ideas. Total Quality Management firstly speaks of long-term success by offering goods and services that please clients. Kaizen, a continuous improvement method, is based on the idea that little, continuing improvements may significantly affect an organization's performance. In brief, manufacturing will only begin when orders are received. The Just In Time (JIT) idea is an inventory system that enables a corporation to obtain things as near as possible to the time they will really be needed.
The next part discussed the terminologies and their use in the nursing organization. Meeting the requirements of the customer and exceeding their expectations by embodying the values of what a nurse should be is what quality is. When a nurse is able to secure the safety of their patients, offer vital health services to improve patient outcomes, and be proactive in the requirements of the patient, they are providing quality care. The detection, assessment, correction, and monitoring of critical components of nursing care meant to improve the quality of life of these patients is referred to as quality assurance. In healthcare, quality management is the administration of system designs, policies, and processes that minimize, if not totally eliminate, damage while improving patient care and results. In this regard, quality improvement is required to enhance patient-centered care through the use of a quality improvement plan, which then acts as a guide to help clinicians self-assess their success in delivering quality education and care, as well as to plan future changes. An indicator is a measurable parameter that is used to monitor and analyze the efficacy of important patient care and support service activities (e.g., patient satisfaction). Sentinel events are unanticipated occurrences that result in death or major physical or psychological damage, such as fall-related accidents, prescription mistakes, delayed treatments, and so on. A technique called benchmarking provides a planned approach to the creation of useful and encouraging practices. It enables service providers to assess and contrast industry standards. A health approach, technique, intervention, treatment, or strategy that improves patient outcomes and is based on high-quality evidence is referred to as best practice. These include things like patient handover, hand washing, and patient identification, among others. The ability to achieve the desired outcome or result and have a meaningful impact on patients under normal clinical conditions is described as effectiveness. Efficiency, on the other hand, is defined as the highest level of performance that calls for the fewest inputs and generates the greatest amount of output in the most cost-effective manner. Rapid Cycle Testing is a quality improvement approach that examines, implements, and assesses modifications made to improve a system or a process. The final topic would be risk management, which aims to reduce risks and damage to patients by identifying the contributing variables, learning from bad experiences and unsuccessful outcomes, and assisting in the implementation of preventative measures.
After understanding all of them, I have come to the opinion that these terminologies are crucial for assisting professionals in comprehending technical and scientific settings so that they may apply them effectively. In terms of talks and research, these phrases are also helpful in the healthcare environment, notably in the nursing area. When I initially came across those foreign words, they did not make sense, at least not until the definition and a few instances were provided.
As a result, understanding quality management ideas is considerably simpler to grasp. This movie is really educational, and it helped me understand that nothing is more satisfying than doing one's work very well while also making a difference. Furthermore, I will join the healthcare system that strives to provide these patients ongoing quality improvement in the future, thus this is crucial for me in my field of work.

The topic we previously covered discussing the Theories of Quality Management is continued in this video presentation. A management strategy for long-term success via customer satisfaction, total quality management places a strong focus on product quality. TQM, as described in the last video about it, enables continual improvement and development in the provision of high-quality healthcare services to patients by ensuring that leaders and workforce members are working in alignment with one another under the same standards, goals, and objectives. Second, the Just-in-Time (JIT) manufacturing method, which starts production as soon as orders are received and focuses on lowering costs by decreasing resources. Although successful project execution necessitates careful planning, it works in tandem with TQM and continuous improvement. I truly appreciate the opportunity to refresh my memory on this topic by seeing this video once more.

The video discusses regarding theories to quality management. Through the alignment of leaders and workforce under the same standards, goals, and objectives, total quality management enables continuous improvement and development in the provision of high-quality healthcare services to patients. Continuous Improvement, also known as Kaizen, is a philosophy that emphasizes continuous improvement through the adoption of the proper perspective and attitude. Second, there is just-in-time (JIT), which starts production as soon as orders are received and focuses on lowering costs by reducing resources. JIT operates on a demand-pull basis. Furthermore, various definitions of terms used in various nursing organizations are covered in the video as well. Defining terms helps to make the implications and meanings of these concepts more clear, facilitating better decision and communication.

  • @lemairlaniebcamingao4173

Quality management theories can be especially beneficial in improving the quality of nursing care and patient outcomes. Total Quality Management (TQM) is a management strategy that aims to improve an organization's effectiveness and efficiency by instilling quality in all of its products, processes, and systems. TQM is based on the idea that rather than being inspected into the final product, quality should be built into the design and production of goods and services.
Essentially, the video discusses some Quality Management Theories, specifically the Continuous Movement or Kaizen Theory and the Just-In-Time (JIT) Theory. Kaizen is a Japanese term that means "continuous improvement." It refers to the practice of making small, incremental changes on a regular basis in order to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and overall quality. The philosophy behind kaizen is that by continuously seeking out and making small improvements, an organization can achieve significant overall progress and success. Kaizen is often associated with the Toyota Production System, which has been highly influential in the development of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices. The key principles of kaizen include the belief that all work can be improved, that all employees can contribute to improvement, and that improvement should be ongoing and never-ending. Kaizen can be applied to a wide range of areas, including manufacturing, service industries, healthcare, and education. It is often implemented through the use of teams and teamwork, and may involve tools such as brainstorming, process mapping, and data analysis. The goal of kaizen is to eliminate waste and increase efficiency, while also fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. JIT, on the other hand, is a production and inventory management strategy that aims to reduce waste and increase efficiency by only producing and delivering what is required, when it is required. It is based on the premise that inventory and other forms of waste, such as defects and excess capacity, are expensive and should be reduced. To implement Just-In-Time, organizations must have a detailed understanding of their demand and supply chain and must work to optimize their processes and systems to meet that demand as efficiently as possible. This may involve reducing lead times, standardizing processes, and implementing flexible production systems. JIT also requires strong communication and collaboration among all members of the supply chain, as well as reliable suppliers and accurate forecasting. By eliminating waste and optimizing production and delivery, JIT can help organizations to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and increase customer satisfaction.
Moreover, the video also discusses the various definitions of terms used in various nursing organizations. Defining terms aids in clarifying the meanings and implications of these concepts, allowing for more effective communication and decision-making. For example, by clearly defining what "continuous improvement" entails, nurses can ensure that everyone is working toward the same goals and can more easily identify and address areas for improvement. The goal of defining key terms in the context of Total Quality Management (TQM) in nursing is to provide a common understanding and vocabulary for discussing and implementing TQM practices. By defining terms, nurses and other members of the healthcare team can ensure that they are all using the same language and concepts when discussing TQM.

This video presentation is the continuation of our previous topic regarding the Theories to Quality Management. Total Quality Management put emphasis on product quality and it is a management approach to long-term success by satisfying customers. As discussed in the previous video about TQM, it facilitates continuous improvement and development the delivery of quality healthcare services to patients through having leaders and manpower that works aligned under the same set of standards, goals, and objectives. Continuous Improvement or Kaizen which is a philosophy that stresses on constant improvement through the right mindset and attitude. Second, the Just-in-Time (JIT) which focuses on reducing resources, and the therefore cost and works on a demand-pull basis, which means production starts when the orders are received. It works in coordination with TQM and Continuous Improvement as it requires proper planning for a project to be a success.
The definition of terms and examples applied to the nursing department or organization includes the following: First, Quality which means doing the right things, or meeting the customer’s needs in a way that exceeds the customer’s expectations and an example of this is the hardworking nurses that possess extensive knowledge to care effectively for patients. Second, Quality Care which is a degree to which nursing services for health care consumers, families, groups, communities, and populations increase the likelihood of desirable outcomes and are consistent with evolving nursing knowledge and one example of this is ensuring safety by avoiding harm to patients during their medical treatment. Third, Quality Assurance which means maintaining a high quality of health care by constantly measuring the effectiveness of the organizations that provide it, also a way of preventing mistakes and defects and one of example of this is to create a steering committee, spreading the news, evaluating results, and implementation of corrective strategies. Fourth, Quality Improvement which is the framework used to systematically improve care which seeks to standardize processes and structure to reduce variation, achieve predictable results, and improve outcomes for patients, healthcare systems, and organizations and one example of this is human capital through education and training. Fifth, Quality Improvement Plans (QIP) which is a formal, documented set of commitments that a health care organization makes to its patients, clients, residents, staff, and community to improve quality through focused target and actions an one example of this is reduction in medication-related adverse events. Sixth, Indicators which is a specific, observable, and measurable characteristic that can be used to show changes or progress a program is making toward achieving a specific outcome and one example of this is average length of stay of patient in a given period. Seventh, Sentinel Events which is an unexpected occurrence involving death or serious physical or psychological injury, or the risk thereof and one example of this is wrong-site surgery. Eighth, Benchmark which is something that serves as a standard by which others may be measured or judged, it is a point of reference from which measurements may be made and one example of this is a leader may compare the patient satisfaction rates across the emergency, cardiology, ICU, and neurology departments of a hospital to endure consistent care and service for patients. Ninth, Best Practice which are health practices, methods, interventions, procedures, and techniques based on high quality evidence in order to obtain improved patient health and outcomes and one example of this is identifying patients correctly. Tenth, Quality Management which is the act of overseeing all activities and tasks that must be accomplished to maintain a desired level of excellence and one example of this is the determination of a quality policy. Eleventh, Total Quality Management is an ongoing process of detecting and reducing or eliminating errors and its focus is to improve the quality of an organization’s outputs, including goods and services, through the continual improvement of internal practices and one example of this are researchers conducted a meta-analysis to determine crucial aspects to the success of TQM in healthcare. Twelfth, Effectiveness which is the capability of producing a desired result or the ability to produce a desired output and one example of this is effective communication can save lives by showing rapport and trust. Thirteenth, Efficiency which refers to the peak level of performance that uses the least amount of inputs to achieve the highest amount of output and one example of this is more appropriate medication and less re-hospitalizations. Fourteenth, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) which involves the systematic use of tools and processes to identify and analyze strengths and barriers within an organization and continually test and improve outcomes and one example of this is implementation of CQI programs in colonoscopy services found a significant knowledge gap concerning barriers and facilitators pertaining to nurses, patients, and managers. Fifteenth, Continual Improvement which is the ongoing improvement of products, services, or processes through incremental and breakthrough improvements and one example of this is reduce treatment variability. Sixteenth, Rapid Cycle Testing which is a quality improvement method that identifies, implements and measures changes made to improve a process or a system and one example of this is a way to conduct Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle. Lastly, Risk Management which is a complex set of clinical and administrative systems, processes, procedures, and reporting structures designed to detect, monitor, assess, mitigate, and prevent risks to patients and one example of this is increasing communication with patients to reduce improper taking of medications and preventing falls and immobility.
Thank you very much for this extremely informative and educational video on the various terms and examples used in the nursing department and organization. I learned a lot from this and will definitely remember it to avoid using these terms interchangeably in the future.

The continuation of the quality management theories were discussed in this video. This video focusing on discussing the Total Quality Management or the quality assurance theory, Continuous Improvement/Kaizen, Just-in-Time, and the definition of terms and each example applied in the nursing department or organization.
The terms and meanings associated with the theories of quality management were the first part being discussed. The quality assurance theory known as Total Quality Management emphasizes on product quality. TQM is refers to as "a management strategy to long-term success through customer satisfaction." According to this, all the members of an organization contribute towards the improvement of products, processes, and services, thereby improving organization's working culture. The Continuous Improvement or Kaizen, this philosophy emphasizes continuous improvement through the right mind-set and attitude. Kaizen is a Japanese term which means (Kai = Change, Zen = Good) or "Good Change," which is achieved through improvement of little things and setting and achieving higher standards. We can learn to adapt to new people, new roles, new environment new responsibilities and situations by making constructive modifications or good changes. Just-In-Time focuses on reducing resources, and therefore cost. In Henry Ford book "My Life and Work," written in 1923, described the JIT concept. JIIT works on a demand-pull basis, which means production, begins as soon as the orders are received. It was stated that the actual orders dictate the production quantity. JIT works in coordination with TQM and continuous improvement as it requires proper planning for a project to be a success. For JIT to provide backup with production scheduling and fulfilment of orders, advanced technology is a mandate. Moreover, the video also presented different terms and its definitions. The terms that were discussed were quality, quality care, quality assurance, quality improvement, quality improvement plans indicators, sentinel events, benchmarking, best practice, quality management, total quality management., effectiveness, efficiency, continuous quality improvement, continual improvement, rapid cycle testing, and risk management.
Since the speaker also used the concepts in a nursing context or used them in a situational way, I was able to fully comprehend the various terms. The video was very informative and it helped me a lot in understanding them.

The first part discussed in the video is an introduction to the many terminologies and meanings associated with quality management theories. The quality assurance philosophy known as Total Quality Management (TQM) places a strong emphasis on product quality. TQM is described as "a management strategy to long-term success through customer satisfaction." This idea holds that every employee in a company may improve the organization's working culture through improving its goods, processes, and services. Kaizen, or continuous improvement, is a concept that emphasizes continuous progress via the adoption of the proper mindset and attitude. Kaizen is a Japanese term that meaning (Kai = Change, Zen = Good) or "Good Change," which is accomplished through making even the smallest changes as well as setting and achieving greater standards. Just-In-Time (JIT): This approach aims to cut costs by lowering resources. In his book "My Life and Work," written in 1923, Henry Ford discussed the JIT concept. Because JIT operates on a demand-pull basis, manufacturing begins as soon as the orders are received. The production volume is determined on the actual orders. JIT complements TQM and continuous improvement because successful projects necessitate careful planning. For JIT to provide backup with production scheduling and order fulfillment, advanced technology is a requirement.
The definition of terms and examples applied in the Nursing Department or Organization was discussed next. By upholding the ideals of what a nurse should be, quality is defined as meeting the demands of the customer and going above and beyond their expectations. When a nurse is capable of safeguarding their patients from harm, offer essential medical services to improve patient outcomes, and anticipate patients' needs, they are providing quality care. The term "quality assurance" refers to the recognition, evaluation, rectification, and oversight of critical elements of nursing care intended to improve the patients' quality of life. The management of system designs, policies, and procedures that lessen, if not entirely eliminate, harm while enhancing patient care and results is known as quality management in the healthcare industry. Meanwhile, by using a quality improvement plan, healthcare providers can self-evaluate their effectiveness in providing high-quality education and treatment and use the information to plan future changes. Quality improvement is necessary to promote patient-centered care. Essential patient care and support service operations are tracked and evaluated using a quantitative measurement known as an indicator. While, Sentinel events are unplanned incidents that result in death or major physical or psychological harm, such as those caused by falls, medication mistakes, delayed medical care, etc. Benchmarking is a framework that provides a planned approach to the development of useful and helpful practices. It helps healthcare professionals to assess and contrast optimal practices. In terms of health techniques, methods, interventions, procedures, or tactics that are based on high-quality evidence to improve patient outcomes, this is referred to as best practice. Additionally, effectiveness is defined as the highest level of performance that calls for the fewest inputs and generates the greatest amount of output in the most cost-effective manner, whereas effectiveness is defined as the capacity to deliver the desired outcome or result, having a meaningful effect on patients in normal clinical conditions. Rapid Cycle Testing is a quality improvement technique that examines, implements, and assesses modifications made to improve a system or a process. Lastly, risk management, which aims to reduce risks and harm to patients by identifying the contributing variables, drawing lessons from bad experiences and unsuccessful outcomes, and assisting in the implementation of preventative measures
In summary, the video was explained thoroughly. I learned a lot especially in the definition of terms and examples applied in the Nursing Department or Organization. Some of the terms were new and there were also a few that I’ve already came across with.

The different terms and definitions related to the theories of quality management are introduced in this video. First, Total Quality Management refers to long-term success by providing products/services that satisfy the customers. A continuous improvement strategy known as kaizen is founded on the notion that small, ongoing positive changes can have a significant impact on the success of the organization. The Just-In-Time (JIT) concept is an inventory system in which a business can get products as close as possible to the time they will really be needed, in short, production will only start when orders are received.
The next segment talked about the terms and their examples when applied in the nursing organization. Quality is meeting the needs of the client and exceeding their expectations through embodying the values of what a nurse should be. Quality care is given when a nurse is able to ensure the safety of their patients, provide necessary health services to increase patient outcomes, and be proactive in the needs of the patient. Quality assurance refers to the identification, assessment, correction, and monitoring of important aspects of nursing care designed to enhance the quality of life of these patients. Quality management in healthcare is the management of system designs, policies, and processes that reduce, if not completely eradicate, harm while enhancing patient care and outcomes. In connection, quality improvement is needed to improve patient-centered care by utilizing a quality improvement plan, which then serves as a guide to help providers self-assess their performance in delivering quality education and care, and to plan future improvements. A quantifiable measurement called an indicator is used to monitor and assess the effectiveness of essential patient care and support service operations (e.g., patient satisfaction). Sentinel events which is an unexpected occurrence involving death, or serious physical or psychological injuries such as in the case of fall-related injuries, medication errors, delayed treatments and etc. Benchmarking is a system that offers an organized strategy for practical and supportive practice development. It enables providers to evaluate and compare best practices. In relation to best practice, this is referring to health approaches, methods, interventions, procedures, or strategies based on high-quality evidence to enhance patient outcomes. Examples of these include patient identification, hand hygiene, patient handover, and others. Then, effectiveness is described as the ability to deliver the desired outcome or result, having a meaningful effect on patients in normal clinical conditions whereas efficiency is the maximum level of performance that requires the fewest inputs and produces the greatest amount of output in the most economical way. Rapid Cycle Testing is a technique for quality improvement that analyzes, applies, and evaluates changes made to enhance a system or a process. The last term would be about risk management which seeks to minimize risks and harm to patients by recognizing the factors, learning from negative experiences and poor outcomes, and helping to ensure that preventative measures are taken.
Upon learning all these, I have come to the conclusion that these terminologies are important to help professionals understand technical and scientific contexts in order to be able to use them appropriately. Additionally, these terms are useful in the healthcare setting, particularly in the nursing field in terms of research and discussions. The first time I encountered those words that were unfamiliar to me, it did not make any sense, not until the meaning was explained and a few examples were given. Thus, learning the theories of quality management is much easier to comprehend. This video is indeed informative which made me realize that there is nothing more fulfilling than performing one's job with excellence while making a difference at the same time. Also, this is important for me in my line of career since I will become part of the healthcare system that aims to provide continuous quality improvement to these patients in the future.

The video was only a continuation of the topic quality management but this time focuses more on theories and terminologies. The different terms and definitions related to the theories of quality management were stated in this video. Total Quality Management refers to long-term success through the delivery of customer-satisfying goods and services. Kaizen, a continuous improvement method, is based on the idea that little, ongoing improvements can significantly affect an organization's success. The Just-In-Time (JIT) idea is an inventory management strategy that enables a corporation to obtain products as soon as feasible before they are actually required; in other words, production will only begin when orders are received.
The next discussion talks about the terms and how it will be applied in the nursing organization. By upholding the ideals of what a nurse should be, quality is defined as meeting the demands of the customer and going above and beyond their expectations. When a nurse is able to protect their patients from harm, offer essential medical services to improve patient outcomes, and anticipate patients' needs, they are providing quality care. In order to improve the quality of life for these patients, critical aspects of nursing care must be identified, assessed, corrected, and monitored. This is known as quality assurance. The management of system designs, policies, and procedures in the healthcare industry is known as quality management. It aims to minimize harm while improving patient care and outcomes. Through the use of a quality improvement plan, which acts as a roadmap for providers to self-evaluate their success in providing high-quality education and care and to plan future changes, quality improvement is required to improve patient-centered care. To monitor and evaluate the efficiency of vital patient care and support service operations, a quantifiable measurement known as an indicator is used. Sentinel events are unanticipated occurrences that result in death or serious physical or psychological injuries, such as in the case of fall-related injuries, medication errors, delayed treatments, and so on. Patient handover, hand washing, and patient identification are a few examples of these. Rapid Cycle Testing is a quality improvement technique that examines, implements, and assesses modifications made to improve a system or a process and lastly would be risk management, which tries to lessen risks and harm to patients by identifying the contributing causes, drawing lessons from bad experiences and unsuccessful outcomes, and assisting in the implementation of preventative measures.
The information in this video was quite useful and greatly aided my comprehension of various theories and terminologies, particularly as they relate to the healthcare field. Thanks for this very informative video!

In my previous reflection, I've defined and talked about Total Quality Management, R.A. 7875: National Health Insurance Act of 1995, National Framework for Quality in Health, The different theories and The principles of 8 principles of Total Quality Management which consisted its purpose, different terms, their importance, and how it can benefit and impact a lot of people. I've come to an understanding that Total Quality Management is a management philosophy founded on the idea that an organization may achieve long-term success by having all of its members from entry-level employees to its top executives concentrate on enhancing quality and, as a result, generating customer satisfaction. Organizations must prioritize kaizen, or continuous improvement, in order to implement total quality management. In contrast to solely stressing short-term financial rewards, it focuses on long-term process improvements.
This time, in the third video, it is just a continuation however it talks about the different terms and definitions related to the theories of quality management. First, it talked about the continuous improvement which refers to a continual attempt to improve known and used processes as well as services, products related to services, and products that are still in the development stage. Another technique for creating and enhancing processes in any firm is kaizen. Kaizen stands for ongoing development. At its core, kaizen is an approach to continuous improvement that places a persistent emphasis on getting rid of all waste from a certain process. And then, JIT, or just-in-time, inventory management, involves only ordering products from vendors when they are actually needed. This approach's primary goals are to lower the cost of keeping inventory and boost inventory turnover. Just-in-time production demands meticulous supply chain planning and the use of top-notch software to complete the entire process up until delivery, which improves productivity and reduces room for error because each activity is tracked. A just-in-time inventory management system has the following significant benefits, to name a few.
To conclude all that I have learn from the video, without a doubt, terminology aids in our understanding of a given subject. People in different industries can communicate more effectively if they use vocabulary that is clearly established. Effective language use decreases ambiguity and improves clarity, making it a crucial component of quality. Terminology can aid in the transfer of knowledge and increase client satisfaction. Clear terminology encourages efficient knowledge transfer and sharing within the business, makes it easier to create user-friendly customer documentation, improves the usability of your products, and increases customer satisfaction by making the information clear, which in turn lowers the volume of support calls and customer complaints. That is why understanding the quality management made it more easier when the terms used is fully understood as well.

This video presentation is an extension of our earlier discussion, the Theories to Quality Management. Total Quality Management put emphasis on product quality and it is a management approach to long-term success by satisfying customers. TQM, as described in the previous video about it, enables continual improvement and development in the provision of high-quality healthcare services to patients by ensuring that leaders and workforce members are working in alignment with one another under the same standards, goals, and objectives.
The following are the different terminology used and applied to the nursing department, including each of its definition: (a) Quality which means doing the right things, or meeting the customer’s needs in a way that exceeds the customer’s expectations. An example for this is the hardworking nurses that possess extensive knowledge to care effectively for patients; (b) Quality Care which is a degree to which nursing services for health care consumers, families, groups, communities, and populations increase the likelihood of desirable outcomes and are consistent with evolving nursing knowledge and one example of this is ensuring safety by avoiding harm to patients during their medical treatment; (c) Third, Quality Assurance which means maintaining a high quality of health care by constantly measuring the effectiveness of the organizations that provide it, also a way of preventing mistakes and defects. An example for this is to create a steering committee, spreading the news, evaluating results, and implementation of corrective strategies; (d) Quality Improvement which is the framework used to systematically improve care which seeks to standardize processes and structure to reduce variation, achieve predictable results, and improve outcomes for patients, healthcare systems, and organizations and one example of this is human capital through education and training; (e) Quality Improvement Plans (QIP) which is a formal, documented set of commitments that a health care organization makes to its patients, clients, residents, staff, and community to improve quality through focused target and actions an one example of this is reduction in medication-related adverse events; (f) Indicators which is a specific, observable, and measurable characteristic that can be used to show changes or progress a program is making toward achieving a specific outcome. Example for this is average length of stay of patient in a given period; (g) Sentinel Events which is an unexpected occurrence involving death or serious physical or psychological injury, or the risk thereof and one example of this is wrong-site surgery; (h) Benchmark which is something that serves as a standard by which others may be measured or judged, it is a point of reference from which measurements may be made and one example of this is a leader may compare the patient satisfaction rates across the emergency, cardiology, ICU, and neurology departments of a hospital to endure consistent care and service for patients; (i) Best Practice which are health practices, methods, interventions, procedures, and techniques based on high quality evidence in order to obtain improved patient health and outcomes and one example of this is identifying patients correctly; (j) Quality Management which is the act of overseeing all activities and tasks that must be accomplished to maintain a desired level of excellence and one example of this is the determination of a quality policy; (k) Total Quality Management is an ongoing process of detecting and reducing or eliminating errors and its focus is to improve the quality of an organization’s outputs, including goods and services, through the continual improvement of internal practices and one example of this are researchers conducted a meta-analysis to determine crucial aspects to the success of TQM in healthcare; (l) Effectiveness which is the capability of producing a desired result or the ability to produce a desired output and one example of this is effective communication can save lives by showing rapport and trust; (m) Efficiency which refers to the peak level of performance that uses the least amount of inputs to achieve the highest amount of output and one example of this is more appropriate medication and less re-hospitalizations; (n) Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) which involves the systematic use of tools and processes to identify and analyze strengths and barriers within an organization and continually test and improve outcomes and one example of this is implementation of CQI programs in colonoscopy services found a significant knowledge gap concerning barriers and facilitators pertaining to nurses, patients, and managers; (o) Continual Improvement which is the ongoing improvement of products, services, or processes through incremental and breakthrough improvements and one example of this is reduce treatment variability; (p) Rapid Cycle Testing which is a quality improvement method that identifies, implements and measures changes made to improve a process or a system and one example of this is a way to conduct Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle; (q) Risk Management which is a complex set of clinical and administrative systems, processes, procedures, and reporting structures designed to detect, monitor, assess, mitigate, and prevent risks to patients and one example of this is increasing communication with patients to reduce improper taking of medications and preventing falls and immobility.
I think it is important to be able to understand all of the terminologies and theories being used in the nursing department. The reason for this is because by understanding its flow and exact definition allows us to construct more precise and achievable plans. When a company or an organization have plans that are organized and achievable, then the probability of improvement and development of the business is high, ensuring that the company is still on track and is continuously climbing to the ladder of success.
