I think he did, but it's been modified to make it lighter by removing some parts
He did. In one of his interview ( search you tube), he said he like to test his strength in the show whenever possible. The car scene as well as his scene with Scully at 06:15 when he was searching for food were real.
I'm guessing they made the car lighter. It's a 1996 Honda Civic, which weighs about 2,500 pounds stock. Lifting just one end would mean lifting 1,250 pounds, and the world record for dead lifting is 1,102 pounds. Terry is strong, but unless he's strong enough to break the world record, I doubt he can lift half a Civic. They probably removed most of the car's interior and any other parts that wouldn't be seen from the outside. Terry was probably lifting less than 1,000 pounds. Still pretty damn impressive though.
