The chapel you need to see to believe in Évora, Portugal! 🇵🇹

- Evora was a delightful city to explore in Portugal, contrasted by its creepy sounding Chapel of Bones! But the chapel turns out to be far more reflective than creepy...
We arrived in Evora after experiencing a week of rain in northern Portugal, and we were thrilled that the sun was out! Unfortunately, we both managed to catch a cold (thanks, rain) - it definitely was not you-know-what (we tested 4x while sick, none of them were positive). We didn't let the colds hold us back though! After admiring the architecture, we set out for the Chapel of Bones - one of the main sites found in Evora.
The Chapel of Bones is several hundred years old, and although we expected it to feel a little creepy (5,000+ bones are inside!), it wasn't creepy at all. It was far more of a reflective experience, with a poem inside that aided in the reflection.
Poem inside the Chapel of Bones (English translation):
Where are you going in such a hurry, traveler?
Stop...do not proceed any further.
You have no greater concern,
Than this one: that on which you focus your sight.
Recall how many have passed from this world,
Reflect on your similar end.
There is good reason to reflect;
If only all did the same.
Ponder, you so influenced by fate,
Among the many concerns of the world,
So little do you reflect on death.
If by chance you glance at this place,
Stop ... for the sake of your journey,
The more you pause, the more you will progress.

OH FUN!!!!! Love to visit Portugal one day. Getting lost in the towns by walking random maze. HEY TAG LINE HAHA! Feels like we are watching a lovely National Geographic! Love all the different types of architecture mixed together. Love all the shops too! So fun to check those out while you are exploring the streets! We want a Portuguese Egg Tart PLEASE!
Oh my gosh, you two need to go to Portugal, if only to egg the egg tarts (the Pastel da Natas)! They're soooo good. We should have named our channel Get Lost in Towns. 😂😂😂 Thank you so much for watching!
You are visititing the old world of Europe.
Nice tour of Evora, Portugal right from the comfort of my home! Did the pastries cure your colds?

Long walk, blue sky reflecting on the ocean, ocean and pine smells = good fatigue / sleeping like babies.
Thast why its UNESCO World Heritage.
And Portugal its the 1st cork producer in the World.
Learning about cork was so interesting that we made a whole video about it. 😂 The bone chapel deserves its UNESCO designation!
@@TalesFromOurPocket why not making a vídeo, abaut the country with the most mass shotings, and children killed on them.
I think its a very nice idea.
One of This says the Us Will be rewarded by the UN, with Mass Shotings Heritage country. Ah, and with many children killed on the process. If you use cork, maybe some children Might survive.
American ignorants. Just go, we dont need Mass shotters in our old country.
