I think it's extremely telling that when Britney made the choice to shave her head it was seen as a sign she was "crazy" because she had made herself "ugly". Every part of that presumption was problematic and misogynistic. While Dolly remaining glam and youthful for decades and decades is applauded. Dolly not showing her unmade up face to her husband...is a choice. Don't get me wrong, Dolly is talented, philanthropic, kind and seems sweet and I'm not trying to criticise Dolly at all. I just find the contrast with the treatment of Britney and Dolly extremely glaring and unfair, because the one chose to be "ugly" and was punished and the other remains eternally "beautiful" and is rewarded. It's messed up.
Not only that, but Britney shaving her head and choosing to “make herself ugly” - remember all the GI Jane comments about her? - were prime reasons that justified her conservatorship. 🤬 (Which we could also tie to JPS, but she’s doing enough talking about herself…)

Shaving your head can be a really liberating thing. I had to for different reasons. I've always had super long hair. It was very wrapped up in my identity. It was a security blanket. I wouldn't suggest it for everyone but for me it was freeing.

Re: CA law banning ingredients. Maybe because they have a problem with people selling counterfeit cosmetics. This can add charges to indictments. I saw a 60 Mins or maybe VICE piece on it and there was a law enforcement group dedicated to it but they said it was like wack a mole they would just pop back up and to make manufacturing cheep they were using harmful ingredients.
I'm not gonna hold the makeup thing against Dolly. That's 100% a product of the pressure of the time she got famous during. It breaks my heart she would think she looks like a "hag." She truly seems like a beautiful soul and that sort of beauty shines through regardless of makeup, age, etc.
If I'm not mistaking, plastic beads in scrubs are also being banned. And when it comes to glitter in wash off products, I have seen body washes and bath bombs with glitter, and face masks. Their only purpose is to look pretty (Glamglow had some glittery skincare)

be careful buying from halara. i bought garments that were sewn incorrectly, and i would’ve had to pay as much in shipping to send them back as the cost of the items, even though it was an obvious manufacturing defect. they did not at that time accept returns for items that simply did not fit; the problem had to be their fault. idk if this has changed.
I rarely watch the sponsored segments on videos but because I had never heard of this company, I stayed. First of all, you look great. Second, I love that you got sponsored by a sportswear company that is not price gouging your viewers. The outfits are cute and the price point is great. I’m ready for Brittney’s book. The media played into Justin digging at her and really just helped ruin her. But ultimately she isn’t ruined and I’m so glad that society has moved forward past what the media says and looked at the person as a person with their own autonomy. When I leave the house without makeup there’s always a few people who will say “OH what’s wrong?? You look upset!!” Or “you look sick!! What’s the matter??” And I bravely say “actually I’m just not wearing makeup.” Or “I’m not wearing mascara today and my lashes are blonde.” And then that person just HAS to backtrack and say “OH NO that’s not it. You just seem so mad/depressed/upset! What’s wrong??” Ultimately causing me to feel like there’s something wrong with *me* and I must hide all of that with makeup. A full face. Everyday. everyday.

Essence and Catrice already use biodegradable glitter. So if they can produce a nice and quality makeup, so can other brands. A lot of drug stores in EU started doing sales on glitter products.

Wanted to weigh in as a normal-person Halara shopper! Their stuff can be hit and miss, but I have some absolute staples from them (dresses and pants) that have held up after use and are on par with places like Old Navy. I have also had good return experiences for items that I thought were lacking.
I love their products !! I have so many and I work in healthcare and wear a lot to work ! I have yoga outfits as well!! I am grabbing some of their pet fibre yoga pants too .. seriously !! I have 2 dresses even .. so comfy ❤

I think the glitter in the rinse off stuff is a sign that they are regarding much tinier particles than we expected, as glitter. Think of "pearlescent" stuff. I've DEFINITELY looked closely at shampoos and washes that have teeeeeeeny glitter, giving that pearly look. There's also the silly stuff for little girls. Regardless, they go straight down the drain in full quantity, so it makes sense to eliminate them first even if it's not an enormous impact.

Growing up in rural TN all kids, including myself, played with and occasionally ate, Poke Berrys. I used it to make Ink for my turkey feather pen, to make dye for my Barbie clothes, to make makeup, we used it for everything lol 😂 Now as an adult I cook up the leaves at least once or twice a summer.
@@KalasStage you eat them ☺️ but you do have to boil them a couple times before they’re safe to eat. So basically you boil them once, then dump the water and boil it another 2 times. After the final boil you can either dump the water and add a splash of chicken broth and some seasonings and eat them that way or you can drain them and throw them in a pan with some diced up raw bacon and onions and cook them until the bacon is done, drain the grease and eat it that way. Honestly it’s good but it’s too much work that is necessary and takes forever to cook with an end result that tastes a lot like turnip greens 🤷♀️ I personally rather just cook turnip or mustard greens once and be done with it then cook poke salad 3 times for the same tasting dish. It’s fun to do it and teach the kids how to cook it but not something I want to do everyday.

The ND palette is stunning and will be my first ever ND palette. There is way tooooo much warm/orange shadow out there, super refreshing to finally have a cool palette! (except for that one sneaky warm shadow in the bottom row) . It’s perfection.
On the glitter thing. My mom received a while back a bottle of red soap. It was a holiday special soap from the brand called perlier. We love that brand and their scented soap btw. Anyways. The soap had some pretty sparkly shimmer/micro glitter and it was really pretty to shower with. Now if I'm not mistaken isn't shimmer traditionally made from mica powder ie a mineral and glitter just plain plastic? Because if it was just shimmer (because I doubt factories would be able to cut glitter so small and it not being sharp) then the product is still fine to be sold as is. If it had mica in it. But to answer your question wash off products with glitter do exist. And they're pretty fun to use. Expecially for teen me 8/7 years ago.
I totally agree with what Dolly said about makeup. I know I look good without it, but my confidence goes way up when I have my makeup done. I can survive without wearing it of course, but I enjoy how I feel with it on more 🥰
I suspect the California law might be related to counterfeit makeup. There’s a place in Los Angeles where counterfeit makeup is sold and when it’s tested they often find dangerous ingredients in them. I recall seeing an investigation on this by Vice.

This is why I love watching you because I have never thought about Glitter being washed away down the sink . What it might do to our environment, it's just never crossed my mind. I think about you know all the trash in the landfills I thinkt about all kinds of things that affect the water or land but I never thought of that. So it's really good to have that discussion and that's why I love you, because you are always there to have that discussion. Overtime watching you I learned you used to be a teacher. I am a teacher in Alaska I'm in Special Education and I work with kindergarten, first,second, and third grade. I have 2 kids that are 17, and 16, so a junior and softmore

When I was in college I cleaned this lady's house for cash on the side. She had a succulent of some sort (i think a jade plant) that would drop it's little rubbery leaves and they would crystalize under the plant. She had it by a jacuzzi and when I would clean it, the whole jacuzzi would be full of sparkles.

Side note: charcoal (like from lighting a match and blowing it out) was used in these ways historically too, and also pokeberries yeah they're poisonous if you eat them, but not to touch the juice, it was a thing with me and my grandma when I was a kid to crush them and use them to write our names with our fingers on the little bridge at her house (the greens tho, pokeweed, you can eat but only at a certain point in its growth process or else it's also poisonous) ❤

I’m ready for Brittney’s book. The media played into Justin digging at her and really just helped ruin her. But ultimately she isn’t ruined and I’m so glad that society has moved forward past what the media says and looked at the person as a person with their own autonomy.
When I leave the house without makeup there’s always a few people who will say “OH what’s wrong?? You look upset!!” Or “you look sick!! What’s the matter??” And I bravely say “actually I’m just not wearing makeup.” Or “I’m not wearing mascara today and my lashes are blonde.” And then that person just HAS to backtrack and say “OH NO that’s not it. You just seem so mad/depressed/upset! What’s wrong??” Ultimately causing me to feel like there’s something wrong with *me* and I must hide all of that with makeup. A full face. Everyday. everyday.

Essence and Catrice already use biodegradable glitter. So if they can produce a nice and quality makeup, so can other brands.

Wanted to weigh in as a normal-person Halara shopper! Their stuff can be hit and miss, but I have some absolute staples from them (dresses and pants) that have held up after use and are on par with places like Old Navy. I have also had good return experiences for items that I thought were lacking.
I love their products !! I have so many and I work in healthcare and wear a lot to work ! I have yoga outfits as well!! I am grabbing some of their pet fibre yoga pants too .. seriously !! I have 2 dresses even .. so comfy ❤

I think the glitter in the rinse off stuff is a sign that they are regarding much tinier particles than we expected, as glitter. Think of "pearlescent" stuff. I've DEFINITELY looked closely at shampoos and washes that have teeeeeeeny glitter, giving that pearly look. There's also the silly stuff for little girls. Regardless, they go straight down the drain in full quantity, so it makes sense to eliminate them first even if it's not an enormous impact.

Growing up in rural TN all kids, including myself, played with and occasionally ate, Poke Berrys.
I used it to make Ink for my turkey feather pen, to make dye for my Barbie clothes, to make makeup, we used it for everything lol 😂
Now as an adult I cook up the leaves at least once or twice a summer.
What do you use the leaves for?
@@KalasStage you eat them ☺️ but you do have to boil them a couple times before they’re safe to eat.
So basically you boil them once, then dump the water and boil it another 2 times. After the final boil you can either dump the water and add a splash of chicken broth and some seasonings and eat them that way or you can drain them and throw them in a pan with some diced up raw bacon and onions and cook them until the bacon is done, drain the grease and eat it that way.
Honestly it’s good but it’s too much work that is necessary and takes forever to cook with an end result that tastes a lot like turnip greens 🤷♀️
I personally rather just cook turnip or mustard greens once and be done with it then cook poke salad 3 times for the same tasting dish. It’s fun to do it and teach the kids how to cook it but not something I want to do everyday.

I grew up in Denver in 90’s and 2000’s during one of the Denver Broncos greatest eras. John Elway, Shannon Sharpe and Terrell Davis were on TOP of the Mild High, so very familiar with Shan Sharpe but that makeup dialogue you had about his makeup had me rooooollllingggggg 🤣🤣🤣😂 not the MAC counter!!! 🤣🤣

The ND palette is stunning and will be my first ever ND palette. There is way tooooo much warm/orange shadow out there, super refreshing to finally have a cool palette! (except for that one sneaky warm shadow in the bottom row) . It’s perfection.
Listened to Britney’s book in one sitting. It was amazing and shocking.
On the glitter thing. My mom received a while back a bottle of red soap. It was a holiday special soap from the brand called perlier. We love that brand and their scented soap btw. Anyways. The soap had some pretty sparkly shimmer/micro glitter and it was really pretty to shower with. Now if I'm not mistaken isn't shimmer traditionally made from mica powder ie a mineral and glitter just plain plastic? Because if it was just shimmer (because I doubt factories would be able to cut glitter so small and it not being sharp) then the product is still fine to be sold as is. If it had mica in it.
But to answer your question wash off products with glitter do exist. And they're pretty fun to use. Expecially for teen me 8/7 years ago.
All the Rite Aides where I live sold out to Walgreens about 3-4 years ago.

I suspect the California law might be related to counterfeit makeup. There’s a place in Los Angeles where counterfeit makeup is sold and when it’s tested they often find dangerous ingredients in them. I recall seeing an investigation on this by Vice.

I have seen the biggest difference in my skin by A: wearing sunscreen and B: double cleansing . of course having a routine. I am skincare obsessed so I do it all.. Toners, essences, ampoules, serums ,emulsions, creams, masks. All of it.. But anywayy. Cleanse that makeup girly!!!

I work at a local pharmacy in my town and my boss use to work for rite aid in the 80s and early 90s. He said even then it was the shadiest business he had ever been a part of. The owners were rolling in cash and then they got arrested and sent to jail for money laundering!
