Actually the charm of this podcast is the varying level of Mandarin. In Singapore we have such a wide spectrum of viewers. Some with good Chinese some potatoes so this is a dynamic that works.
Really love the guest this week & it brought back memories of waiting for wahbanana & NOC weekly video updates back in 2013/2014. It was also refreshing to hear Ling Yi & Charlene's challenges as a female boss in SG - feel that we don't get to hear this enough as male bosses in the CZcams scene tend to have more exposure in the media interviews imo. Really enjoyed this episode! 😊
Her mandarin sounds like a more formal Taiwanese, very nice. Her English sounds 100% local. Envy her mandarin.

Great episode, over time as John speaks more mandarin, his standard will improve. The channel should have a yearly recap of his improving mandarin standard.
Looking at how the CZcams scene change over the years, its really heartening to see lao jiao such as Ryan and Ling Yi still around doing CZcams. Back when Wah!Banana under Garena, really the OG to start the nonsense "types" video!
I don’t even speak mandarin and don’t usually finish these kind of videos but this was highly entertaining! Ling yi is so eloquent!

What a great episode! very interesting to see how wah!banana originated from even though I have watched them since around 2014... it was also very insightful to see the concerns that lingyi and charlene face while being female bosses

omg i feel so validated. i work in specialized retail job, and everyone will ignore me and my girl colleague and go straight to my male colleagues even though we are better qualified. i tell the male staff about this reality of ours, and they are very dismissive of it and said we "think too much".
'Everyone' is dramatizing things... for me, I always go to female staff because most are more patient at listening for needs before recommending an item.
@@TheMrleeyang saying 'everyone' is a personal experience. pls dont invalidate someone elses experience just because you as an individual go to ladies for help in the retail setting. for me and my colleague, it is a daily occurrence.

any form of formal communication or discussion should have been done directly in 1 big group, instead of the bureaucratic way of your employee passing a message/email to your manager, then to client's manager and then to client's employees

hmm I don't think the female thing is true entirely. I think they ignore the wife because they're not familiar with her, and just may feel awkward. as for Ryan's I think its just a boss thing, plus he's so prominent, so clients will give him face and reply immediately. don't think its a female thing because from my experience, females get equal respect too/ clients always look for the female boss when the whole team is male. (for my job at least), you just gotta show your dominance and of course, be smart.
