Luffy doesn't want to be a HERO, because it means the world will only see him as that. His title will become his prison, always expected to BE a hero, to do the right thing, but we all know pirates arent heroes. Pirates (at least Luffy's crew) fight for freedom. Becoming a hero would mean throwing away that freedom.
Yeah pretty much, could say it for Oda as well, making a story with pirates gives alot more freedom than a manga about super heroes, like look at MHA almost every character has the same motivationsđ

Luffy's opinion about heroes is actually low-key deep. Back in East Blue, Luffy said that he wouldn't help people who don't even try to help themselves. Which means that he is not a true hero who saves everyone equally. He only saves those that earned his respect in some way.
But the paradox is that true heroes are exactly the kind of people that he would help. People who would fight for themselves and even put their life on the line for others, like Vivi for example. Hence why he said that he loves heroes, but doesn't want to be one.
Also his explanation about heroes kind of contradicts what he does in Wano. Like sharing his food tickets with Boss Hyogoro and getting upset when he found out that he ate the last of Otamas rice.
@@keithgraham8588 That's just Luffy not being narrow-minded. People on Wano have been starving for 20 years. They are fighting for their lives just by living. Taking their food and not sharing with them would be just cruel. It's different from most other islands where they might have problems, but they are well-off enough to eat full meals.
@@keithgraham8588 the thing is, its still on line with the first comment, Otama, hyogoro, along other samurais still are struggling, still are fighting and they get ridiculed for that, which all are big no's for luffy, he respects those that struggle, Otama is pretty much like a little sister for him and she has been fighting nd hanging on for so long and still went and gave him the last of her food, think back for example for the Baratie arc with sanji or when he rescues robin at ennies lobby, its the mix of all that which made wano feel so personal despite being a stranger in those lands, because he's experienced it all and is the place of Kin and momo who became his friends and helped him so much during their stay like Vivi
because luffy wants luffy to help people but not to a point where he is only one that will solve it
that's where he truely help someone by including them with it
only when they ask is where he start to take action and give them courage to face it with him
One of the best flexes in One Piece. Luffy is easily top 10 anime protagonists for me.

As annoying as Shirahoshi can be, I'd say it's probably a good thing that the one who can control the Sea Kings is timid. It could be a problem if she was actually aggressive đ€Ł

Luffy knocking out those fishmen is still one of my favorite moments.
Being a hero means that u always have to do the right thing because it is the right thing. Luffy likes his freedom of making his own choices because he wants to and not because of some sort of moral command upon his role. He is selfish in a good way and wants to be it, like he wants to help people not because they need to or want luffy to, but because Luffy wants to no matter what the other says (like in arlong park when Nami used to choo them away before asking for it), which is why he almost never listen to people's past, he doesn't care about that, he only cares of helping his friends because they r his fried and nothing else.
If luffy had the IQ of Law he would prolly be the most overpowered mc in the big three
I would agree but part of why Luffy is so powerful is because of his unique thought process and unconventional approach to battle. His wild imagination and simple mind carried him through a lot of his fights.

I think what Luffy meant when he gives the example of a hero is that heroes always do what others consider to be the right thing and follow the rules. Meanwhile as a pirate he will do what he considers to be the right thing using whatever method he needs to.

So as impressive as this was Oda said Shanks could have knocked out all 100,000 fishmen, which makes me wonder is there a limit to the number of people you can target or does Conqueror's Haki get weaker if you use it on larger groups? Cause I feel in straight one V one Luffy could have knocked out any of the 100,000 grunts with it.
it depends on how strong your haki is and how weak the enemy mentally is. you cant knock out someone who has strong mind. Shanks haki is way much stronger than luffy. is all about will power

Given with what we know about Shanksâs proficiency with his Conquerorâs Haki burst, he wonât even need to exert much effort just to knock out those 100k.
Heâd probably just walk around and leak a bit of CH every step of the way to Hordy like the way he boarded Whitebeardâs ship.
Current manga Luffy can even knock out Hordy with haki only

@@long8279 Yeah I know that but Luffy's Conqueror's Haki should have been strong enough to knock out any of the 100,000 grunts individually, but why didn't it knock out all 100,000 in a single burst? I mean does trying to target specific groups while avoiding others mess with how wide an area he can affect or something? He would have needed to only target the bad fishmen while keeping his crew and the innocent civilians out of harms way.

I don't know if you read the manga, but if you do, then you know that shanks is most likely the strongest haki user alive (also including whitebeard), so yes he could've just walked in there and knock out the 100k and hordy in a single glare

Ironically I do think it is as deep as you thought it is Luffy is stumbling into being a hero by making a lot of really selfish decisions and everyone on his crew is down with that and that's what being a pirate is about it's about doing what you want, versus being a hero you're kind of on the side of the people you're obligated to help people and lift them up when they are down and you're more at the whim of them than you are at the whim of yourself and while Luffy does save people and countries and is very hero like it's all because of his selfish pirate-like decisions.
