    Something extra that I've started doing with any of my vehicle electrical work is to include solder at the connectors to better seal the connections along with heat shrink insulation. I have a 92 Bronco that I'm working on and, after seeing the amount of corrosion that's made it's way down the wiring inside their insulation on a number of wires, I've started doing this to attempt to seal off the connections as best as possible.
    Granted, I know it takes many years for it to actually happen. But, it's a single family vehicle(Father in Law ordered it in 92) and I plan on keeping it in the family for many, many more years.
    Good video, it gave me some things to think about when I do an audio upgrade to the Bronco in the future. I was one of those people who ran the power cord all the way over to the driver's side and could never figure out how to get rid of all the ignition noise.....

    Excellent work. I have spent days... More, watching 'how to' videos and your instruction is so clear, camera angles were right on target. Lighting was bugging me until I realized the lighting 💡 perfectly lit up the wires etc. I subbed in and look forward to more. My hardest part now is pulling all the internals outta my 2003 Nissan Frontier XE..... AGAIN... 😆

    Just want to ask this. Why are you connecting speaker wires to your amp when you are using RCA cables. You connect RCA to pre out front speakers back at the head unit, and your speakers are connected through the iso connector to the headunit. So there is no reason to connect speaker cables to the amp. They go trough the RCA.

  • @automech01
    @automech01 Před 3 lety +1

    Nice truck but did you screw the amp through the floor board? Thats a big no no. You should have made a panel to mount the amp to the seat bolts that way you don't have to screw through the floor .

    • @doityourselfbri
      @doityourselfbri  Před 7 lety +3

      +Diego Correa Bigger the better on the amp cable...The amp is the only hard thing on the battery, and alternator... If your light's dim with the bass, try installing a capacitor, it will store power for when the big power robbing bass notes hit.

    Do you have to run new speaker wires from the amp to the speakers, or do you connect to the back of the head unit somehow?

    • @doityourselfbri
      @doityourselfbri  Před 7 lety

      The speaker wires run directly from the amp to the speaker.. (not back to the head unit)

      @@doityourselfbri So what are you using RCA cables for?

    • @eriksrensen6369
      @eriksrensen6369 Před 4 lety

      No you don't...if you have speakers connected trough ISO harness....most cars do.....you use pre out RCA. No need to use both...If you want to run you speakers directly to the amp, there is no need to use RCA.

    • @rekless87
      @rekless87 Před 4 lety

      @@eriksrensen6369 they're not connected to the head unit, the RCA cables take the sound signal from head unit to the amp, the amp delivers the sound signal to the speakers through the speaker cables that are connected to the amp.

      +maqsoodnsx Ah yes, I thought that's what you might be referring too...Mainly cost and simplicity...If I was installing a subwoofer I definitely would, might have to make another video down the road...I'm thinking about putting a couple 10s in my shop truck and I will probably put a cap in that video..Good idea! Thanks so much for watching my channel!

    Could you tell me please please why it has to be direct to the batery? I was thinking on take a positive from the lighters or the back lighter! Thanks for answer me!!

    • @rickspearman344
      @rickspearman344 Před 11 měsíci

      Direct power , from the battery is going to give your amp
      the power it needs to perform. A cigarette lighter needs enough power to light the lighter, ( smaller wire) headlights ( bigger wire) Amplifiers ( BIG SOUND, BIG WIRE) In some cases tandem batteries. One simply to run the sound system.

    I'VE NEVER HEARD THE SPARK PLUG THEORY. THE MAJORITY OF ENGINE NOISE COME'S FROM SHITTY GROUND'S! ARE YOU FAMILIAR WITH THE BIG 3 UPGRADE??? OF COURSE IT WILL VARY OF DIFFERENT VEHICLE'S, BUT THE POINT I'M MAKING IS THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH RUNNING POWER CABLE'S ACROSS ENGINE BAY (AS LONG AS IT'S DONE SAFELY!!!) IF YOU EXPERIENCE NOISE WHEN YOU REV THE MOTOR, 10 TIME'S OUT OF 10 (YOU HAVE A GND. LOOP).
