The Making of Radiant: Photographs by Antje Hanebeck, Photogravures by Fanny Boucher

  • 'Radiant' is a collection of photogravures by German Photographer, Antje Hanebeck. They are a fresh and insightful meditation on the physical spaces of the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar (MIA) - designed by Master Architect, I M Pei in 2005. Employing the antique process of photogravure, the artist has created an exciting visual experience, capturing the atmosphere, light and shadow, revealing an alternative interpretation of MIA's spectacular design.
    This film documents the process of making the photogravures by artisan Fanny Boucher at her Atelier Hélio'g in France. The exhibition of Radiant will open at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) in Qatar on 14 January 2014 running until 29 March.
    Radiant has been produced in a limited edition Corian box, crafted by Olivier Andreotti of Taluca Editions, Paris. The cover is hand carved with intricate motifs inspired directly by designed from MIA. Radiant is made up of eleven photogravures, printed on fine, hand-made paper by Fanny Boucher at Atlier Hélio'g.
    Photographer, Antje Hanebeck received her Masters degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich in 1988. After working as Assistant Professor at the Department of Photography in the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich for several years, Miss Hanebeck returned to developing her own personal photographic projects, which have been exhibited throughout Europe and in Japan.
