- The North Cascades National park has been nicknamed the Alps of America. I’ve never been to the Alps, but this place is pretty damn beautiful. There are loads of intermediate/advanced hiking routes and complex mountaineering targets for everyone. All you BC hiking enthusiasts better put this mountain paradise on your bucketlist ASAP. Come along for the adventure as we explore the North Cascades National Park and hike the Cascade Pass Trail / Sahale Arm to the base of the Sahale glacier. There are also plenty of gorgeous lakes and even if you hate hiking, just going for a drive along the highway all the way to Winthrop and back is epic. Cascades National Parks Rocks!!

I severely miss living beside the North Cascades. For 12 years i hiked there lots. Love the feeling of having it all to yourself. Always worked weekends so i could hike midweek
Wow - hiking midweek in the Cascades, those must be some incredible memories. Such a gorgeous area
You really captured the views really well--can't wait til I get there this summer. Thanks!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Highly recommend visiting the North Cascades during the fall and hiking Maple Pass loop! The larches turn colour and the views from the trail are just incredible.
We did the maple pass loop as well. Would be totally worth it to rip back for the fall!
Definitely reminds me of france and the Alps so pretty. Liquid courage certified.
LC CERTIFIED!
I have tire pressure sensor fault in my vehicle as well. It means the instruments to measure tire pressure have a problem. Great video as always!
Doesn't seem like a problem with fixing!
MR Consistency! Another amazing vid James. Heading for AU to BC in 2 weeks. can not wait!!
Thanks Chris. What are you planning to do in the summer months?
@@riseandalpine We where doing a road trip down to Idaho, that’s fallen through. Now isn’t the Sunshine Coast and a few days in Whistler. And some time in Van of course. Just a short trip because I can. LOL
I was up there when I was about your age which was a little while ago. I sure enjoy your channel
Thanks Steve. Stoked you got to experience the park, it's phenomenal.
Man those TJ peanut butter cups are awesome.
Dude... the absolute best. Barely lasted a week hahaha
My stomping grounds! Make sure if you come back through this area to stop at Birdsview Brewery!
I loved the area so much. Will drop by the brewery this summer for sure
@riseandalpine You should put the Enchantment Lakes on your list as well. It's incredible up there.
This was cool. I’m from Texas and I hiked this same trail last fall. It was fun recognizing the shots you utilized in this video.
The colours must have been so beautiful in the fall! A little bit different than Texas eh?
@@riseandalpine The cold weather had not yet set in, so the colors were not as vibrant as you might expect. And yes, very different. I had never thought of hiking the Cascades before until my son mentioned it. I must say, it is one of the most lovely places I've been.
Try the North Cascades in the winter... Most of it is pretty inaccessible without heli assistance but it's all pretty amazing terrain
I was thinking about how sick it would be in winter the entire time! Have you done it before? Any recommendations on good lines to ski?
I apologize if you mentioned it in the video but how long did it take yall to hike up to the glacier and go back down? Looked like yall did it within really good time! Awesome legs.
Also what I was hoping to find out!
I can't 100% remember but I think it took us between 5-6 hours with a decently long stop for lunch and lots of filmin.
The lake named Diablo Lake and is fed by glaciers on Pyramid Peak and Colonial Peak.
Very cool!
Thanks for the great video. It really helps. How's the gravel road condition to the trailhead? Is it suitable for the regular 2wd suv?
Hey! It is absolutely no problem for a 2wd SUV. Even saw a couple honda accords up there totally fine, just driving a bit slower.
Pretty sweet to be able to eat all that yummy food: 5 bags of chips and pretzels ect.. and still be in great shape. Must be nice!
This is why we hike LOL
Come back to Washington Pass this winter and ski it!
I would absolutely love that. Could you guide me around?
@@riseandalpine Would LOVE to! (HWY20 is closed in the winter, but drop down through the Okanagan and swing by Apex on the way over!) In the meantime, google "the birthday tour" and "silver star mtn"...
Glad Washington provided the goods. In an ironic twist, we we’re enjoying your home turf (Whistler) while you were enjoying our’s.
Such a wonderful trade. Washington is sick! I 100% need a Baker pow day this season.
Did you actually use your poles at all? Or just carry them all the way up then all the way back down? 😅
I guess we like a workout LOL. We like to carry them in case we decided to go off-trail or the snow was worse.
What lake was that you swam in at the end?
I think Diablo lake!
What time of year did you do this hike ?
This was in July!
Damn, I need a nexus card.
Nexus is the best
lmaooo trader joe's
TJ's baby!
It is pronounced “Sa-HA- Lee”.
I had a feeling I was saying it wrong.
I need a hiker girl in my life...
I'm a lucky guy!
