Born: May 24, 1941, he has more awards for his work than you can shake a stick at, including a Nobel, a Pulitzer, numerous Grammys, an Oscar, a Golden Globe, Kennedy Center Honors, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, so yeah, he's pretty much universally recognized as a gift to mankind!💝✌
well put
One of the greatest poet/songwriters of the 20th Century, he has had a huge effect on the music industry and continues to this day.
Lol wow you really gotta stop lying to yourself
@@aaronddi8067 Your ignorance is showing! Dylan was the artist primarily responsible for bringing together poetry and folk music. He is probably the most influential songwriter in pop/rock. He is the current Nobel Laureate in Literature, the first songwriter to be awarded the honor. Dylan sold tens of millions of albums, wrote hundreds of songs recorded by more than 2,000 artists
@@aaronddi8067 Bob Dylan is explaining the whole of human history and breaking all the religions down to thier core ,
How consciousness' works
But its in code
So this thing you have to do is break the crystallization of your "self" in your cortex , and then you can start to decipher his trail of breadcrumbs
Or ignorance is bliss
but it is ignorance
Thousands are working on his code and they still don't get it
so the media have stopped broadcasting his message, because they have no idea what it is
Now aint that cool
The greatest poet of the 20th century, bar none - there's a reason he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. And honestly, his 21st century albums have all been amazing as well, an incredible artist in every way.
@@aaronddi8067 There's a big difference between lies and opinion. In this person's opinion, Dylan is great. In your opinion, he sucks. Aw, who an I kidding? Your opinion is worthless.
Arguably the most famous songwriter of the 20th century.
Bob was 23 that year, born in 1941. Thought to have been one of the greatest song writers of his time. Lots of good music.😊❤
Wow what a useless comment, thank you so much for saying nothing new :) !
Genius. Renegade. Legend.... Outside the box. In voice. In words. In music. In rhyme. Think about Dylan's observations and exposure of the human experience. Such impact over the decades. In every song there is a story bared, and its telling giving context and direction to contemplate, leading us captive and captivated into the smoke rings of our minds. Yes, of course, more Dylan. "Hurricane" is just one of many you should try.
Dylan is a HUGE rabbithole, more of a sinkhole, a legend, from folk, country, rock, to rap, reinvented himself many times. For SERIOUS BARS check out It's Alright Ma I'm Only Bleeding, album version....
Bob Dylan is a legend who influenced almost everyone, including The Beatles. Dylan wrote deep lyrics, lyrics that eventually won a Nobel Prize in literature. You have sampled a song from his initial folk period, just Dylan, guitar and harmonica. Dylan later went electric and played with a band. To sample a song from that period, I suggest the song Hurricane. Dylan tells the story of a boxer who was wrongly convicted for murder.
Ahhh, that is a good choice...There is like 200 Dylan songs I would love to see him react to. The Hurricane is a great choice. I posted earlier that he should listen to Tangled Up In Blue.
Dylan would have been recently turned 23 here, I think. It's amazing to me that he wrote songs like this at such a young age. Plenty of regular folks like me spend our lives trying to understand things, and then guys like Dylan come along and seem to have some deep connection to universal forces. It's like he just knew something that the rest of us don't.
that’s a good way of putting it, the rest of us are just fooling about, this guy’s on the ball, and that voice .😍🙃🤩
This msn inspired the Beatles as well as a multitude of other artists. Nine Grammys, a Golden Globe, an Academy Award. One of the biggest selling artists of all time. A cultural phenomenon! You saw him with the Traveling Wilburys and USA for Africa. He was 23 here and at 81 he’s still with us. Love him and everything he stands for! Watched it all with you Adogg!
Plus a Nobel Prize for Literature
@@bennemer489 I do remember that, thank you. He also painted and published nine books about his art. Lifetime Achievement Grammy. There is so much about this man and not enough room to include it all. Glad you’re a fan of his!
Please, dive in! 'Love to hear
One Too Many Mornings
from his
THE TIMES THEY ARE A'CHANGIN
album (1964).
'Love that you're checking out Dylan !!!
He also made the band as great they actually were... Robbie Robertson was a great song writer himself and had awesome band to back him.
@@bennemer489 and awarded a Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama
Still going strong. I saw him at the end of last year at the London Palladium. He was 81. The show was absolutely amazing and I don’t mean just amazing for an 81 year old, it was amazing for anyone of any age. He’s a true genius, one of the very very few real ones. We are so lucky to still be living in his time.
Bob Dylan is an institution! He has many songs that he has written and performed, also written for other artists. Some of my favorites are Blowing in the Wind, Tangled up in Blue, Lay Lady Lay, Like a Rolling Stone. He also wrote and recorded All along the Watchtower, which was covered and made more famous by Jimi Hendrix. I like both versions.
He got the Nobel Prize here in Sweden, for his fantastic lyrics.❤️
Blowing In the Wind and The Times They Are A Changing are two of my favorites.
The only singer/songwriter to ever win the Nobel Prize in Literature...Bob Dylan. His catalogue is extensive. His impact on the world cannot be understated. A true national treasure. ✌😎
This was filmed at the Newport Folk Festival in Freebody Park, Newport, RI., which was an annual thing for about ten years from 1959-1969 😉👍
His impact on the world cannot be OVERstated, you mean. Heh!
@@edprzydatek8398 That too! 😉👍
Born 1961. Came from Hibbing, Minnesota (mining town up in the Arrowhead region). Real last name Zimmerman. Took his stage name from poet Dylan Thomas. He was basically a poet performing to music. Released his first album on Columbia in 1962. His early material protested war, dangerous mining conditions, general corruption, etc. He had this strange half-talking singing style that you see here, randomly dropping in an extra measure or half-measure into the music, in his early career. He did have a nice, full-blown singing voice, but didn't start really using it until the album Nashville Skyline (1969).
Most of the early Byrds hits were Dylan covers. So was Jimi Hendrix' "All Along the Watchtower." So was Adele's "Make You Feel My Love." And others too numerous to mention. He has a Best Original Song Oscar, and a Nobel Prize in Literature for the poetic content of his lyrics.
You opened a giant rabbit hole. Have fun.
Born in 1941 not 1961.
@@sophistpig Right. I don't know how that one slipped by me. Fat fingers.
This was the early acoustic Dylan. He was one of THE big folk-rock artists and songwriters. You also ought to review The Byrds cover of Tambourine Man.
Dylan's version is SO much better than The Byrds imo.
This was at the Newport Folk Festival in Newport, Rhode Island in 1965. He was 24 years old; he's 81 now.
The video says 1964...but otherwise
that was the newport folk festival in 64,and that was pete seeger that introduced him, he wrote turn, turn, turn
I'm glad you did this version of the song. He was so young and talented. This was at the Newport Folk Festival in Newport, Rhode Island. He was the darling of the folk crowd at this time. A couple of years later he showed up with an electric guitar and a blues band. The crowd lost their minds! He had betrayed them! They booed him. But it's remembered as an important turning point in rock, 'Dylan goes electric'
The imagery, the rhyming schemes, the incredible alliteration, and the other worldly images, and the feeling of serenity helped me escape from some of the insanity of the world back in the 1960s, and even now. Another timeless masterpiece by the Nobel Prize winner for literature.
You were close when you guessed at Bob's age, Adogg. Dylan was only 23 years old when he gave this legendary performance at the Newport Folk Festival, July 26, 1964. The song would not be released on record until the following year, 1965, so most if not all of the audience were unfamiliar with Mr. Tambourine Man.
Mr Dylan is a one off, unique, irreplaceable, the likes of whom we will never see again and he was awarded "The Nobel Prize for literature" still touring, treasure him while we can.
He is the American Troubadour. "Hurricane", "Murder Most Foul", "Blowin' in the Wind", "The Death of Emmet Till". I would suggest you start with his first album and work your way through, but the dude has 38 albums out!
i first heard bob dylan when i was 4 yrs old. this was 1964. 60 years later i am still listening to bob
Sad, younger generations aren’t exposed to the greats while they are still on the planet. He’s still here as far as I know.
If JFK JR is still here maybe just maybe Bib is! 🖖
Excellent song writer, started with folk music then added acoustics and caught a lot of flap for it. Listen to Blowing In The Wind...thx for the reaction
You definitely should do more Dylan. He was an immense impact on music of the time. I'd recommend The times they are a changin.
Excellent choice!
yes
Dylan is a poet and musician/composer etc. And EXCELLENT at all that and more!!! AND so excellent in his poetry that in 2016, he was awarded the NOBEL PRIZE for litterature!!!! That is the most prestigious award in the world, for litterature! Yes, he is a GIANT.
I have been.listening to poetry videos all evening as I am on a binge for them. This was NOT an anti climax to the viewings. I think " It's All Right Ma (I'm only bleeding ) should be next
How is it possible that anyone over the age of 5 doesn’t know who BOB DYLAN is? He’s the single most influential musical artist of the last 100 years!
Have all his albums, on vinyl of course.. shaped a lot of my life.. the World was changing and in turmoil back in the 60's... Bob made the youth of the day sit up and take notice and strive to change the World, civil rights, wars injustice things none of us in UK were really aware of... Please do more reactions
My all time favorite song. This performance gives you chills. Thank you for doing this.
Great songwriter...look up Traveling Willburys..supergroup
They are icons of the highest form. George harrison bob dylan Jeff lynn roy orbison tom petty
23 years old - Newport (R.I.) Folk Festival, 2nd of 3 annual appearances in the 1960s. He didn't return to the Newport gig until 2002.
I believe this performance was at the Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island. Two years later he would cause a sensation there when he went electric!
Bob Dylan is the greatest songwriter/poet in history. As a fighter for civil rights, he wrote many civil rights songs.
It's funny, I've heard this song quite a few times. I've just had one of those horrible weeks where my juju is completely gone & not one thing has gone right. As soon as he started singing it hit me right in the feels. Eyes are a little leaky & my heart is swelling. Thanks man for that. ♡♡♡
Bob had just written this and nobody ever heard this song before this performance lucky crowd!!
If you want to hear another early one of his that many people consider to be an early form of rapping, check out his Subterranean Homesick Blues. He's got a few that could be considered that but this is probably the most iconic one.
Another early one that was so huge that you heard it everywhere all the time, and we even sang it in church of all things, is his song Blowin in the Wind. It's basically a wake up call.
Listened to a lot of bob growing up then heard his album desire totally blew me away
I grew up on Bob Dylan I never new what half the lyrics meant but loved tons of his stuff, he was utterly unique.
"Is it Rollin', Bob?" One the greatest poets, songwriters, revolutionary of any century. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2016. In this video he is introduced by Pete Seeger - you should look up his songs, too.
Bob Dylan is the Goat! Try "hurricane"
Take it from this grand ol' lady of the 60's, you've just stumbled upon one of the ultimate legends. The rabbit hole is a deep one that'll take you on a wonderful trip. Have a great ride! While I wipe a tear and rethink great memories.
That was at the Newport Folk festival. My dad was there. Met and hung out with Peter, Paul & Mary and ended up being lifelong friends with Paul Stookey.
A poet. We didn’t even know it. Respect
This was at the Newport Folk Festival. The next year Dylan played the festival and shocked the folk die hard s when he “went electric” and played rock on an electronic guitar.
One of my favorite Dylan songs is Positively 4th street ... check it out
@Randy Hinkson--AGREE 💯✌🏼
The man who introduced Bob Dylan at the start of this video was folk-music legend Pete Seeger. I’ve read that Dylan and Seeger had a falling out when Dylan “went electric” in 1966.
Just like the old bluesmen, he was genuine and stayed true to himself. "It's allright Ma, (I'm Only bleeding)" is a great one by him. It hits you in the face.
Bob is truly great.
The main man, greatest songwriter of all time!
Newport folk festival, before he shocked the folkies, turned electric and changed music forever.
Bob Dylan has such a large catalog of music, it will blow your mind. This was at the Newport Folk Festival in 1964. He was 23. In 2016, Bob was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition". He's also won an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, a Medal of Freedom from Barrack Obama, several Emmy Awards, A Pulitzer Prize, is in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, among others. My suggestions to listen to are BLOWIN' IN THE WIND, LAY LADY LAY, SUBTERRANEAN HOMESICK BLUES, DON'T THINK TWICE, KNOCKIN' ON HEAVEN'S DOOR (the video will say Pat Garret & Billy the kid). I could go on & on.
BRO, It would be nice if you react to a couple of Bob Dylan's more recent songs he penned, for contrast. "I Used to Care, But Things Have Changed"; and "Long Black Coat". Bob Dylan was born and raised a few miles from me, in Minnesota. He left his home to pursue a career in music and headed for sunny California. THANK YOU, for reacting to this Dylan song for your viewers!
Listen to the song again, and picture a person waiting on a drug dealer. Bob Dylan, did rap before there was a rap. “It’s all right, Ma (I’m only blending)”.
1964… Newport Folk Festival.. I was there.
Cover a Dylan-Grateful Dead performance.
Your interest and curiosity makes our music better! Thank You
Add some Dave Van Ronk.
Who is this man...!!! Are u kidding me.???
🙄🙄🙄🙄
I know, LOL!
Caroline: 😵 I know I'm getting old, but when youngsters say that...🤯 🤦♀️At least Adog is "educating" himself+ younger viewers to LEGENDS. The BIRTH of Musical Geniuses. Better late than Never! ⏰️
LISTEN to "Just Like A Woman"...🔥❤️👍🏻
" Positively Fouth Street" AND "Knockin' On Heaven's Door". And SOOOO MANY OTHER songs from THE ONE & ONLY BOB DYLAN!
He took Folk music and PLUGGED us into a NEW WORLD of listening 🎶🎵🎶🤣🤣🤣
Tow things:
1. Bob Dylan wrote this song, but the most popular recording of it was by a group called the Byrds. One of the founding members of the Byrds, David Crosby, died just a few days ago. Try listening to the Byrd's version of this song.
2. There are many, many other songs by Bob Dylan that you could listen to. "Blowin' in the Wind," "The Ballad of the Thin Man," "Tangled Up in Blue," "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll," "All Along the Watchtower" (also famously recorded by Jimi Hendrix), "Hard Rain," "Like a Rolling Stone," "Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands," "Everybody Must Get Stoned," and many more.
Next to Leonard Cohen he was one of the best poets we've ever known.
Legend
Keep em coming.
Dylan....Hard Rain .
Hurricane (my fav(
Hell, he got hundreds..
Dive in ..
Blowin' in the wind is another great song from him.
Love your channel please stay with us I know you've had a few problems but we all love you 💗
You should also listen to some Pete Seeger (the person who introduced Bob in this video) another amazing singer/songwriter. Turn, Turn, Turn is one of his songs that broke into the mainstream because of The Byrds, who also recorded a version of Mr Tambourine Man.
This was filmed at the Newport Jazz Festival before Dylan went "electric". Just a young guy with a harmonica and a guiitar and a song to sing. The man is a genius and a gift from God. When he goes, the world will mourn.
Like a Rolling Stone. Great Song
Hi! You should react to Bob Dylans “Hurricane” and listen properly to the lyrics.
Tangled Up In Blue is one of my favorite Dylan tunes. I am lucky enough to have seen him 12 times. Would love if you reacted to it. I believe that one was written after he went electric, not sure. Bob going electric really pi@@ed off a lot of people. :)
Luv this song. Great reaction, Man.
Dylan has wrote so many songs and has inspired so many people. He definitely is a legend.
Bob is a legend.. sadly when I hear him sing my right eyelid twitches.
Bob wrote this great song when he was 18
I love Bob Dylan.
Check out lay lady lay by bob dylan
Don‘t worry ma I’m only bleeding and Masters of War. Two of his most powerful songs. And Jimmy Hendrix‘s version of Dylan‘s All along the Watchtower. I recommend these to all thinkers of the world
My favorite song of Dylans' is Shelter Fome the Storm.
Believe it or not, some people actually credit Dylan with being the originator of RAP! Check out either Subterraneon Homesick Blues OR It's Alright Ma I'm Only Bleeding.
You can see the winds of change
Knocking On Heavens Door.
Great reaction! Bob is a great storyteller, especially when he writes about true events. PLEASE listen to "Hurricane."
M. Tambourine Man from Bob Dylan : best choice ever in my opinion thank you very much :)
Why not : a hard rain's gonna fall or Desolation Row
Keep going - Paul from Paris (France)
Check out the studio versions of “subterranean homesick blues” & “its alright, ma (im only bleeding) ....my fave thing about mr tambourine man is how that last verse is, like, 3 times then the other verses...so many words and so, so much flow...anyway, great reaction...many are doing him now
Robert Allen Zimmerman - Bob Dylan - Master Story Teller Genius with words. The First and Greatest Rapper Of All Time. I suggest you do these in your journey ...."Blowin' In The Wind"...."Desolation Row"... "Ballad Of A Thin Man".... "Ballad Of Frankie Lee And Judas Priest"...."Bob Dylan's 115th Dream". You will want to share this tune with family and friends, the master story teller Bob Dylan describing America is the funniest thing you will ever hear in a song.
Fyi...Dylan won the Nobel Prize for literature....as a songwriter
Yes he did! That was when the music was really great!!!!!
He was 23 or 24 when the song was recorded, early 1965.
I really enjoyed watching you hear that for the first time. I'd love to hear you react to the live version of "It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding),"
Beside from winning the Nobel Prize for Literature, he is known as the voice of a generation. I have been a fan since 1963. Please listen to, "Blowing in the Wind." Some said that Mister Tamborine Man was a drug dealer: Bob denied it.
Listen to more Dylan, a great one is Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts. He has hundreds of songs
Introduced by Pete Seeger. Newport Folk Festival '64.
I think you'll like New Morning.
Yo..
One man....
No drums..
No bass..
Like he's sitting right next to you..
G.O.A.T...
Keep digging ..Bob has hundreds..
My fav.. HURRICANE..
The man is so prolific it's hard to pick one song to recommend. I've never seen anyone react to Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts or Black Diamond Bay which are great story songs. Just for fun try Dylan's 115th Dream - hilarious. If You See Her Say Hello is very romantic and is actually my favorite, as far as it's possible to have a favorite out of all his wonderful work. This is a rabbit hole you can never escape from. :)
Great reaction man.
Next has to be either Like a Rolling Stone or Tangled up in Blue
That’s Pete Seeger introducing him. He sang at Obama’s first inauguration concert, then aged about 93? Great man also.
In 1964 he was only 23 years . Great choice man, I suggest “ It’s Alright Ma, I’m only bleeding “, “ Like A Rolling Stone” “ A Hard Rain A gonna Fall” “ Chimes Of Freedom “ “ Desolation Row” “ The Times They Are A- Changing “ “ All Along The Watchtower “ his original version and Jimi Hendrix’s one , and many more masterpieces. Thank you ❤
You really have to tune into the lyrics to appreciate Dylan's songs.
Keep these videos comin my dude 🎉❤
This one czcams.com/video/a6Kv0vF41Bc/video.html (by Dylan) is right up there with the likes of “If I Can Dream” (Elvis), and “A Whiter Shade Of Pale” (Procol Harum).
It was recorded at the Newport Folk Festival, the same venue for your “Mr Tambourine “ reaction.
Thanks 🙏🏻
