    About Invisible People
    There is a direct correlation between what the general public perceives about homelessness and how it affects policy change. Most people blame homelessness on the person experiencing it instead of the increasing shortage of affordable housing, lack of employment, a living wage or the countless reasons that put a person at risk. This lack of understanding creates a dangerous cycle of misperception that leads to the inability to effectively address the root causes of homelessness.
    We imagine a world where everyone has a place to call home. Each day, we work to fight homelessness by giving it a face while educating individuals about the systemic issues that contribute to its existence. Through storytelling, education, news, and activism, we are changing the narrative on homelessness.
    This isn’t just talk. Each year, our groundbreaking educational content reaches more than a billion people across the globe. Our real and unfiltered stories of homelessness shatter stereotypes, demand attention and deliver a call-to-action that is being answered by governments, major brands, nonprofit organizations, and everyday citizens just like you.
    However, there is more work to be done on the road ahead. Homelessness is undoubtedly one of our biggest societal issues today and will only continue to grow if we don’t take action now.
    Invisible People is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to educating the public about homelessness through innovative storytelling, news, and advocacy. Since our launch in 2008, Invisible People has become a pioneer and trusted resource for inspiring action and raising awareness in support of advocacy, policy change and thoughtful dialogue around poverty in North America and the United Kingdom.

    Best way to relay this message is clearly with non aggression, non hostilities and with politeness. Because people will eventually see the presence of the devil if it's there. Showing short videos, shedding light on the ugliness, darkness and the nastiness of the joblessness and homelessness phenonena.

      If God is omnipotent, why does he let the devil perform all of these evil deeds, in fact, why did he create the devil in the first place?!?!

      @fugu_13 Před 5 lety

      @AllGuts NoGlory hey well that didn't answer my question, God is supposed to be omnipotent, all-powerful, so the reason he lets the devil do these things eludes me...

      @fugu_13 Před 5 lety

      @AllGuts NoGlory yes, manmade indeed! God used to be more interventionist in such scenarios back in the Old Testament days (although why he created things like sin and temptation in the first place still baffles me), maybe he's moved onto other projects (and perhaps he's come to the realisation that a purely good human race works much better in Earth v2/3, or whatever he's working on nowadays)...

    There is no affordable housing. Rents are ridiculous. You literally need thousands of dollars to get into an apartment. Jobs don’t pay you enough to cover rent plus regular living expenses. And don’t have kids.

    That’s exactly, why we need self sustainable off Grid earthhouses, worldwide, governments have to help people, building these. Then, all rudimentary needs are fulfilled and people can decide, whether they work more, to make luxury dreams come true, no problem at all. Solutions are there, just have to turn into reality.

    There are many things that could be improved upon. Such as, changing it to where elderly can own their own home and qualify for some of the assistance. It makes no since that they sell there home and move to a nursing facility when, nursing facilities cost 6000 a month.

      @@InkdNXS I disagree. But then again, I grew up in Queens, NY in the 70's. My Dad worked in sanitation in the Bronx. I remember a time when seeing piles upon piles of cigarette butts at every stop light, and trash covering the highways, was a common occurrence. I live in south Charlotte, and most places are well maintained and clean. And that would be a draw, for me, if I was homeless. But the situation with the homeless is becoming heartbreakingly difficult. I can almost guarantee that I will come across several just while I'm out doing errands. I've been approached for money more times here, than anywhere else.

    It is far less expensive and much more productive, to simply give homeless folks a grant of about $10,000. That is how much it cost me to go from homeless in San Francisco to having my own stable home. I pay $500.03 a month lot rent and own my RV and my car. I expect my rent to increase to $550.03 in April 2019. I will likely begin to transition to living in my RV on the curb in front homes with extra green lawns. I'm tired of going without everything just to have a place to park. The oil and gas industry has over inflated rent prices in my area of Colorado. There two vacant lots next to me that have been paid for by the pipeline company. Paid to sit vacant all summer! Think about that. Folks here are begging for a legal RV living spot. Yet the pipeline can afford to rent the spots AND NOT USE THEM? Shameful.

    I'm retired, and on social security. I retired in 2006. I worked for May Co, a Hugh retail corp, for 26 yrs. May Co went out of business, and Federated took over. I had stocks, that lasted about 8 yrs. Now I'm living on social security. I know that social security was always meant to be supplementary, but folks r living on it now, in their older yrs, more and more. It's a Hugh problem now, with the housing crisis all over the world now. The average waiting list, for senior housing, is 5 to 7 yrs. I live in Danbury, Ct. It's Fairfield County.

      Yuppies don't owe you anything, dude. Let me help you here, okay? First law of Planet Earth is: if you are depending on the GOVERNMENT for ANYTHING, you're gonna be disappointed. Second law is: See Law #1. If your plan is to cash disability checks for the rest of your life, regardless of the nature of your disability, you are taking the opportunity that God has given you as a white guy in the most prosperous and opportunistic country in the world, during a very good period in human history....financially speaking...and wasting it. Try working! Mow lawns, blow leaves, learn carpentry, deliver pizzas....do SOMETHING! Put down the chips and stop crying and work as if you're a Mexican immigrant hungry for work. Your hard work will be rewarded and you will eat and have a roof over your head. Try it. You'll like it.

    Healthcare and housing is owned by the insurance corporations and banks. They only want profit, before people. There's enough housing for everyone in this country but the banks keep the prices of rent and mortgages artificially inflated. Wages are not rising fast enough to keep up. The foreign real estate investors contributed to the high cost of housing too.

    What a beautiful and amazing woman! I think it's cool she is from Columbia originally :) For me, watching this highlighted the generational split there can be, thinking about Millenials and tech (when she mentioned the tech industry, etc.). I'm a Gen-X-er (50) and though some of my best friends are "Millienials," there can be some differences in our expectations and life experiences based on what things were like growing up. Maybe this generation can help shift how we think about community. We have to create this shift. I love so much that you are showing some of the beauty of the Carolinas... we don't have a great reputation in the south but there is some big-heartedness.

    Not sure how to fix the problem but to blame it on the job market is not the answer. Not all jobs are meant for adults who have a mortgage. Most positions in the hospitality field are meant for high school and college kids or a part time job. Not all but most. Chances are if you graduate high school get married and stay out of jail you will not be poor. Nothing bothers me more than hearing her say she received millions of dollars for homelessness. How much of that is going to get spent on beaurocricy and salaries? My guess is alot.
    I enjoy your videos keep it up and hopefully you can make a difference!!

      @@InvisiblePeople Homelessness IS an American problem that effects us all. However, it is prudent and reasonable to explore how this happened and who is making policies that encourage homelessness. Giving people needles and money who then buy drugs with it is a policy that liberals have embraced. Sorry, I know you're a liberal, dude, but Republicans don't have needle programs! Making excuses and not exercising discipline when it comes to getting off drugs and being an active and consistent worker in society is NOT helping! While "love" is necessary, so too is "tough love". Otherwise, you're enabling a huge population of entitled, sad and motivation-less dependents....and everyone loses. If we hold our elected officials accountable (the clowns in San Fran, LA, Portland Oregon and Seattle are good places to start....not to mention New York, Philly, Detroit and Baltimore...all liberal cities) then they will understand that this is a serious problem and strong policies need to be implemented not just to accommodate homeless people, but to facilitate an environment that discourages rather than encourages it. That's a win/win. By the way, I like your videos and think you are helping.
