Makers in my experience love to cook and experiment with different cuisines. I am no expert, but as a Maker, I like to experiment and share my recipes as well.
Many of my friends here in Christchurch say they feel intimidated to walk into an Indian Store. It can be mind boggling to walk into an Indian store and not know the names of different spices or condiments. Not knowing what they are used for or how to use them in the dishes one creates.
I have taken my friends shopping to our local Indian store, introduced some to Indian cuisine and have even taught them to make a simple curry.
Sometime back , I had to chance to take an official store tour at one of our favourite Indian Grocery store. They graciously let me film it and I thought I will share it with my friends here on you tube just to get an idea of what to expect in an Indian store and identify the different things available there.
I hope you enjoy this video with an introduction to Indian cooking and a tour of our favourite Local Indian Grocery store.
Cooking like fiber crafts is a skill one develops over time with patience and practice. It is ok to try and fail and then try again. Each time we learn a little more and get better with what ever we try.
