Suzuki Baleno first appeared in concept form during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show as i-K2. Half a year later in Frankfurt Suzuki launched the production Baleno. Interesting bit is the Dualjet SHVS hybrid system.
SHVS stands for smart hybrid vehicle by Suzuki. SHVS is not a classic hybrid, like in a Toyota Prius. If you want to impress your friends you can tell them it’s more like KERS from F1. Kinetic energy recuperated during deceleration is stored in batteries under the front seats, and used to power AC, when the engine shuts off, to turn the engine back on, and then to aid the engine during acceleration. However at the car is never powered solely by electric energy.

You can be happy you survived this review.... Surprisingly my new Baleno SHVS feels very comfortable and driving works very well and save. I still can't believe I get this high efficient lightweight car for this little money. I think Suzuki has a very special clientele who is far away from being a car show-off.
lumm71 its really a nice car
@@commentguy7 It's a car for rational people and not for irrational ones. I consider it the best car in it's class as far as value for money and especially reliability is concerned. The car drives awesome without body roll and the brakes are fantastic with a lot of feel and feedback. I leave a 1000cc Polo turbo behind me because my 1.4l, 5 spd manual Baleno is a quarter ton lighter. The reviewer is an idiot!!!
Yes this reviewer is a bit of a Tosspot tries to be funny dont give up your day job which is not this.
I don't recognise this review. I have one and can't fault it. I work 47 years in motortrade too. It's very bias
This car which u r indicating as crap has 6 months waiting period in my place...yup the plastics are not good.. But spaceeeee, fuel economy, suzuki reliability in my place made it an instant success...
I'am not agree with you...it's not a bad car!...it's a good quality /Price car, a good value with a good technology..but it's Suzuki, not VW! So for you is" rubish"...not agree!
This is a good car. Very cheap and reliable. Nothing wrong with the Ackerman steering principal either. Far too many shite talking car snobs.
I'm in the UK and I find this car very interesting but what I can't understand is why it is not popular here and people buy the Swift instead. The Swift costs about the same second hand, is a smaller car, has less boot space, doesn't do as much to the gallon, and has a weird looking rear end. What am I missing? BTW, for me, you may aswell be talking Martian when giving figures in kilometres / litre instead of mpg.
That's why we have Google "x L/100 km to mpg" and then choose US or Imperial. This gets more than 50 mpg (as far as I remember). The problem with it was that when it was offered new with the allegedly revolutionary MHEV, it cost significantly more than the non-MHEV variant, and was just a compliance exercise. The Swift by comparison was cheap and cheerful. Also Suzuki couldn't make up their mind, whether this was a compact or a supermini, so it was hard to compare it against the competitors.
@@MarekDrivesENG Thanks. Actually I think it's more like 60mph average. I've just realised this review was 6 years ago. The only part I find worrying about your review is the ride. The roll, feeling the bumps, that is very important for me, I've never heard a reviewer say that before, although it's the bumps that are more important. I don't know about cornering roll, that can be more subjective depending on how fast you expect to be able to go round corners. I'll have to look at more reviews.
Great car.Reliable Japanese technology.Small car outside, plenty space inside.Excellent intermediateate cceleration.Bigger, stronger, more comfortable version of Swift. Rating 9 for the city, rating 9 for the highway
O man, you spit just Japanese cars!

Couldn’t agree more my Starlet XR Auto kicks ass
❤
The interior looks fine. Materials are probably trying too hard with their budget to be light and durable, sacrificing perceived quality.
LOL @ the overtaking bimmer, no signals either ;)
Currently it's the highest selling car in india....in numbers
Marek, have you a new Sx-Cross on your schedule? I am interested in a 1.0 turbo variant, after they ditched the terrible nose. Oddly enough, it is cheaper than Baleno with the same engine.
Not if I can help it :)
Currently I have tests lined up all the way until April, and facelifted S-Cross is not on my list.
Oh my gosh... What is that thing?
I don't know what happened here, the swift is a great little car, especially the sports version. When they were designing the Baleno they must of been completey intoxicated.
The exteror design looks pretty good and the boot is impressive but yeah id probably rather go for a fabia or a fiesta instead.
CZcams please please please don't advise me this poor reviewer again... good facts behind the jokes and the sarcasm... But you should think about the viewer, who would buy this car or search about this car... may they like your review? Is your job drive the car? Or enjoy driving the car? In the end I don't know if I can trust you or is just like you where unhappy and you did this crappy review because you had to
Let's put it this way: I have to drive various cars to give you my opinion about them. My opinion about this car is what it is. Value for money, not quite a driver's car though.
Kto podpowie jaki silnik zabrać Suzuki Baleno? twoja rada. dzięki.
Nice video
car is amazing but he don't no how to tel gud coins
Marek Drives: Have some of the issues mentioned ben fixed in the 2018 version?
No idea. I haven't seen or driven a Swift since.
Baleno?
@@MarekDrives Not in Italy...
I just learned that the new Swift is based on the Baleno's platform, that's scary.
Half of Suzuki lineup is scary :)
why scary?
is dualjet better than normal 1.2 baleno as far as drivability is concerned?
I don't know. Baleno has quietly disappeared from Europe.
The 1.2 IS the DualJet engine
Swift was awesome, this is not. Ciaz in the Philippines is awesome, Kizashi was a disaster. Damn, dual personality here by Suzuki.
Considering the competition, did Suzuki just give up with this car ?
The inside looks as plain as cheaper makes of car
I didnt like the driver's position. I am 196 and not much of head room!
Shame on you Suzuki. You guys can make fun to drive little supermini like swift. Hope the upcoming ignis chassis has a better tuning.
Wow, excellent review!
It's very polished and well done, with everything that a test drive should contain: exterior shots from all angles, interior shots, trunk, engine, and even a suspension and underneath! A little drive and explanation, a very good subjective opinion, and all in 9 minutes!
Well done, Marek!
You've come a long way since your first reviews!
Keep up the good work!
you must be high
It's amazing how Suzuki make the Swift - which is truly fun to drive but now soon to be replaced - and the Baleno which is, unfortunately, neither. Clearly they must have 2 engineering teams because some of their cars are fun and some are rubbish to drive. I come from India, so we know our Suzukis well. Shame with the Baleno, it's lighter and as powerful as the Swift, so it should have been much much better.
test RIDICUL
I have buy a baleno one month ago....i make 2.500 kilometres and i have to say this car is not for europe...brakes terrible ..steering terrible...suspension horrible...the gear box make noise and have a desirable sensation..the tyres make noise...smole windscreen has no visibiliy ..i have contact to dealer here in Greece and he say ME everything is NORMAL!!!AWAY FROM THIS CAR..!!!
The worst car you can spend money on! No reason buy one of this, if I go for Suzuki I would prefer Suzuki Swift in my opinion it's a better looking and good value for money
Aleksandar Gjorgiev baleno is best in india
Entertaining review. These days there is no excuse for a cheap looking dash. Suzuki needs to employ new interior designers. Even the Vitara has a cheap looking dash.
I used to own brand new swift 2001, and I've been sitting in this one. Honestly, the same cheap car, but of course with a higher value in cash... No, thanks.
I'd rather go for a Tipo instead of this crap...
