waterjet cuts round pipe from side

This is a waterjet pipe cutting machine. It has chuck to rotate the pipe, and the water jet cuts the pipe from the side of the pipe.

Why would you ever do this though? Seems like a waste of resources, unless this is your only tool capable.

You are right, it is one of the possible ways to cut pipes.
