    Just bought a DSO-153, just a note to others, auto calibration is not covered in the manual, nor by Hugo in the vid. To auto calibrate hold down the AUTO button until you get message "Awaiting auto-correction" wait for message to go, about a minute, then it is ready to use.
    Hugo great vid, convinced me to give one a go.

    Thank you for the review- was looking for a recording 2ch usb scope- (Hantek ??), but saw this super useful hand DSO-152, and then luckily found this DSO-153 review.
    Have just ordered a DSO-153 on the strength of this video, to work on my cars and bikes (old bikes, new electrical gremlins !) ;)

      Hi, this one is really nice, they added some functions to this cheap oscilloscope that starts to separate it from the really low almost toy oscilloscopes to a more credible one area.

    Thank you for the review Hugo. I noticed one problem with the scope when you were charging the device while using it. As soon as you plugged in the USB cable, the square wave started jittering up and down. This is most likely due to either the USB charger being a switch mode power supply and the noise from it is affecting the reading or the BMS inside the scope is causing the problem. However, I’ve found that many cheap handheld scopes have this same problem when you charge it while using it. Apart from that small issue, I thinks it’s a great little scope for a beginner.

      Hi, nice to see you again, once more you're right. When recording didn't notice, I was concentrated in another topic, but yeah, you see there the power supply switching. Thanks for sharing and watching.

      @khuongathebounga4141 back to working while charging, I tested with another charger I had here, while asked if it will work ok with a Type-C to Type-C cable for charging, and I notice that with this second charger the signal was much more stable. It should have some kind of protection to prevent that interference, but also, made more clear that the other power charger was piece of garbage 😬

    • @khuongathebounga4141
      @khuongathebounga4141 Před 2 měsíci

      @@TechCornerTV thank you so much for testing that. I appreciate all the effort you put in retesting equipment if something comes up in the comments.
      I 100% agree with you. They should have put in some kind of filter to reduce the ripple noise. It’s a pity as it would be extremely cheap to do so, plus it’s even more important in this case because oscilloscopes are sensitive to picking up external electrical noise.
      As far as I know, linear USB chargers are now very uncommon & hard to find since they are more bulkier, heavier & not as energy efficient as a switch mode power supply. So the scope manufacturer should have taken this into account.
      However, a good thing about you testing it with a different USB charger is it confirms the jittering was due to the charger and not the scopes BMS. Most cheap chargers that come from dollar stores or eBay, etc have too much ripple noise, whereas most, but definitely not all name brand chargers that came with your phone such as a Samsung or iPhone were less prone to ripple noise, not to mention much safer. Also ripple noise will degrade your electronics over time too. Thanks again for testing this Hugo.
      P.S: at least you now know that one of your chargers is a piece of crap 😂😂😂

    Just received my DSO153, and thanks to your presentation I almost fully understand it’s functionalities. Very impressive little gadget with a lot of punch. Have a Victor 1025A bench scope, at 25mhz, which I purchased a couple of months ago. I guess for a novice it is sufficient for the time being. What would you recommend for the future when I really get my hands dirty?

      Hi, thank you so much for you kind message. If you have the funds €€€ the new Rigol 12bits series is amazing. I'll buy one of those also in the future, it will give you everything you need with quality, siglent also have a new series as alternarive to this. But for a hobbyist, the equipment you have should be enough. Thanks for sharing.

    Thank you for the review. During your test, there was the sinusoidal displayed in a rectangular icon by the battery indicator, does that mean that your device was outputting a generated signal locally and measuring from an external device at the same time? Could that be the reason you were getting not very precise results?

    • @TechCornerTV
      @TechCornerTV  Před 2 měsíci

      Hi, yes, the rectangular icon is the signal generator, when we have the sine wave on it, is on, if it is only a rectangle is off. Thanks for watching.

    I like all your presentations, very informative. Like your accent. Trying to decide whether to purchase the dso 152 or dso 153. My main language is English, no need to change on selection. Have two function generators. The only advantage I see is the 1ghz bandwidth. Is the 153 really worth it? Could not find a side by side comparison.

      Hi, in my opinion, the DSO-153 worth the few extra bucks, more bw, more measurements, faster processor and the signal generator is very acceptable, if you have two already is redundant, but overall is a much better device. Hi, I received yesterday the CDEK SDS1102 to review, same as the two you mentioned. I will do it in the following weeks, have 2 videos to release yet, but that is the next inline. I have a review of the same model 4 channels and the comparation (showdown) video with FNIRSIS and Hantek, take a look in my older videos. This one seems pretty good, but I have to test it on the workbench to see the accuracy. But you should be ok with it. Thanks for watching.

    @Dennis-mq6or Před měsícem +2

    If you plan to continue evaluating digital oscilloscopes you really need to learn about a phenomenon called 'aliasing'...
    All those multi megahertz displays you said looked so good were NOT REAL
    When you looked at the nice 4 Mhz sinewave and the readout on the scope said it was only 1 mhz, it meant that the scope was only sampling at 1/4 the frequency of the 4 Mhz sinewave.
    Another problem the scope had was vertical 'jitter' that may or may not have been corrected by setting your trigger level to something other than zero...

    Does the USB-C charging work with a USB-C to USB-C cable? I am asking because some devices are missing two 5.1k resistors, causing them to only work with USB-A to C adapter cables

    • @TechCornerTV
      @TechCornerTV  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hi, I went and test it on another power charger I have here, not only worked with Type-C to Type-C charging cable, but also, seemed a lot more stable in signal that had some interferences with the charger I used while recording the video. Thanks for watching.

    Hi Hugo, question... I own this oscilloscope. When I press and hold the "auto" button I get a message that reads "awaiting auto correction" at this point all of the buttons freeze and I cannot get the oscilloscope to respond unless I reset the unit.. do you know how to get this to work or get out of this mode? Thanks!

    • @TechCornerTV
      @TechCornerTV  Před 18 dny

      Hi, well, when you enter in auto-correction, it is for what I understood, calibrating. You just need to wait for it to end. It took about 30 secs on mine and you shouldn't have anything connected to the probe socket. After that is working normally as expected. Thanks for watching.

    I like your reviews but not this one. In evaluating the sig gen capabilities you essentially left signal amplitude control uncovered. Sure it can put out Volts. How about 100mV, 200...etc. The amplitude is a very important control. Can I ramp up from 0V passing through Semiconductor Junction thresholds...ie 200 or 600mV. You run the range on frequency and basically don't cover amplitude manipulation ability. Also in the wave forms, did I see a DC level position? Can you control that? Max, Min, increment (looks like 100mV and that's OK. Not complaining because your videos are 95% good. But when something is obviously lacking xI gotta say so.
    You've done better. Comments 41:06 should help content to improve, that's intent.
    Keep'em coming

      @TechCornerTV  Před 2 měsíci

      Hi, no worries, please keep commenting. I'll take them always as constructive info to get better, and you're right on your comment. I did left a more precise test on the amplitude. I showed it working, but very briefly. I will try remember in the future to give more attention to it. The granularity of selection on this devide, is somehow limited, but I could covered it better. Thanks for taking the time to write this comment and for watching!
